How to Crochet an Easy Infinity Scarf: Crochet Tutorial for Beginners

- A beginner's guide to crochet a double loop infinity scarf. Step by step instructions to make your own crochet chunky infinity scarf. This video will show how to crochet a basic double loop infinity scarf! The yarn used is from Loops & Threads. It's called Charisma. Size 5/Bulky yarn with 11.50mm/P hook. You'll also want to have scissors and a yarn needle handy.
Notes to me:
110 starting chain
Use size 6 - Super Bulky yarn
Use size 12 mm crochet hook
Now, if only I could get the size 6 yarn to work as easily as my smaller yarn 🤦🏻♀️

I learned to crochet from my mom as a young girl. I hadn’t done it in years but I discovered crocheted dishcloths and decided to try to crochet my own. I now have more dishcloths than I can use, as do my friends. I have moved on to scarves. I learned a lot from this video. Her method of holding the yarn is now my favorite. Looping the yarn around on your hook to keep it straight eliminated my previous failures at trying to crochet the scarf as a continuous loop. How she finishes the scarf is the best method I have seen yet. Great video!

I’ve crocheted a number of scarves, both straight and infinity. They’ve all turned out great, but this one was the best. I learned to crochet long ago, as a child and the way we hold the yarn (in São Tomé & Principe) is totally different and my back loops were always too tight until you showed me how to do it 😄.

I had used a P hook 11.5 mm
Charisma Charisme 109 yards 3.5 oz skein. I went through one skein and a little of second skein. #J72 Cornflower / bulky 5. Beautiful Hughes of blue and grey and creme. I want to wear it with my denim jacket and jeans.

I wish you could clarify how the connect properly... mine kept getting g twisted and the small loop didn’t translate well to a larger one. I made a Möbius strip instead of a loop :P

But my question is do you have to use a size P Hook or can you use the recommended hook size the package calls for?
If you use the recommend hook, the scarf wouldn't be as soft/squishy. So it wouldn't comform as well when you wear it.

if i were to half double crochet in the back loop only, do i take both loops when i do the slip stitch or just the back?
I would do both loops there. The join might get too stretched out if you go with one loop.

Absolutely! I would increase my starting chain by quite a bit for a lighter weighted yarn. Maybe add around 30-50 to your starting chain and see how long that is when wrapped twice!

I'm not sure about UK differences, but my guess would be chunky. I use 2 balls of this yarn so the yardage would just under 200 yards. ❤️

I've always just slid the working chain onto the back of my hook instead of taking my chain off the hook to slid it on. Its easier for me so i didn't pull any of my stitches out sliding the chain on. Then to connect them, I pull a stitch from the front right thru the back stitch so u don't have to pull the chain off the back of the needle.
That's an excellent way to do it! I usually don't use this method and regret it when I'm trying to straighten out my chains. lol!

Takiyya Shaw Yes! The first image shows the finished scarf with 110 chains. It is wrapped around the neck twice. I'm not sure if it could wrap around any more. I'll have to give it a try!

I'm a beginner and I'm just learning I live in a very small and I mean small community it will this work for the infinity scarf needle I have a n 900 mm and the yarn that you suggested I don't have anything like that here I've tried Amazon on getting needles and every time I try to look for something it's always gone do you have any suggestions or will this needle work these needles I have that was passed down to me they're about 50 years old
Size N hook will work! Just avoid pulling tight on your stitches and it should work out

Length of each ball - 266 mtr approximate; Needle size - UK 8(4mm), Crochet size UK 7(4.5mm) ... Is this size okay?
This was super easy to follow. My question to you, in the video you show a scarf, how many rows is that scarf?
If I remember correctly, I think it's 9 rows to get to the thickness pictured. I always make a row and try it on to see how fluffy it is!

I don't have an 11.5mm hook. Would it be ok if I made this scarf using a 10mm hook? Would it turn out ok?
Your stitches will just be a bit tighter. It should still look the same, but the scarf would end up a little smaller than the pattern. You can add some extra stitches to the beginning chain to fix that! Good luck!

It’s a good tutorial but I wish you had mentioned the circumference because I only had 4 ply stretchy yarn (that was probably thinner also) available so it was pretty hard to maintain the tension and I don’t think my 110 loops were the same size as yours...
Also the part where you join the ends of the chain was so really hard to follow because you kept turning the chain and replacing your fingers awfully many times.
guys just a reminder for beginner. make sure buy a yarn needle that big enough haha.

Scarfs for dolls that need that something extra to their bland wardrobes. It puts hipster back into plastic and artificial for the young to be creative. OK, when the cookie cutter toy companies give you lemons, give them creative lemonade.
I found this too confusing... the sample was too small.
She works a sample but asks the audience to chain 110 then go from there.
Sample is too small to actually see the design to its fullest. Or could you show the actual finished cowl. Looks nothing like the thumb nail since soon tiny
It would have been nice if you had made one with us. Or if you did the mock one but then grabbed a completed scarf to reference. Your asking a beginner to picture something we haven't seen before. Lots of room for improvement here.

@@GingerKnots You don't need to be a professional to make a good demonstrational video. Just create a video from our side and what would help you best learn how to make something you've never seen or touched before. And the picture in the beginning of the video is not cutting it
