For what it’s worth, on my 1963-1/2 Galaxie 500, I run 275/40ZR18 tires on 18x9.5 wheels with -4mm/5.031" BSM at the rear. If I let the air out of the bags, the tires touch a small pop out at the front of the outer wheel well. The pop out can be “persuaded” away from the tire for no bottoming at full bump travel if you desire. If not, it makes for an effective parking brake when aired down all the way. Also, to get the rears on and off, I let all the air out of the opposite side bag, air up the side I’m removing to full ride-height, loosen the lug nuts, then jack up the frame just in front of the wheel before the kick-up. After removing the lug nuts, push the bottom of the wheel under the car, and the top will drop down to lie face flat on the ground. Installation is the reverse. You can accomplish it without bags but you need to use a bottle or scissor jack between the top of the axle and bottom of the frame rail on the side you’re removing.
The part where you mentioned cleaning up the paint helps with motivation, and I definitely agree with that. I bought my first classic truck to restore and it was previously a farm truck so everything was caked with mud, dirt, and in the interior it was full of those damn goathead spikes. But after getting all of that stuff cleaned up I was a helluva lot more motivated to work on it. Best part about it being a dirty farm truck is all the caked on dirt acts as a rust inhibitor, it's so clean! The floors are in good shape, the frame only has surface rust and won't take long at all to clean up and restore. Definitely psyched to get more work done to it, I already have the bench seat, gas tank, entire front clip and hood removed, next is the bed.
When my father was 18 he worked at a for dealerships and a man had a 6 month old red R code red with black interior and 4 speed he traded in due to he was scared of the car and my father at 18 bought it and drag raced it for a few years and won a lot idk just cool every time I see your red car reminds me of my dads story’s
Bet the Galaxie would look good with a teardrop hood scoop. The first one I ever saw was about 1966 and it was on a 64 Galaxie. With a little lift in the back and a little squat in the front would be so period correct for the 1960's street machine.
Love the white '64 looking forward to more of the red '64,,started watching on the red and have enjoyed all the videos keep'em coming will be great to see more of the red '64 and as always thanks for sharing and you know "Howdy from Texas "!!
You should look into putting drum brakes from a 1966 Fairlane station wagon. They are wider but fit right in. Just need to change the retaining clip to the wider one. Shelby used to do this to his race cars.
IMO, the early-mid 60s, big body cars look *great* on something like the AR VN511 Salt Flat. I am pretty much at the "I loathe Torq Thrust style wheels" stage of my life, so those would not be my choice, but as long as you like 'em, that's all that counts.
Just run the spacers lol. I have some cheap ebay ones on my c10 with a 8.8 in it I do crazy posi burnouts and launches all the time just use thread locker on them.
All I can say is Bout Time Dude! We were all waiting for the real build to start, Now keep it up. As far as the wheel's yep they look good but do not make the final cut, remember fit doesn't mean function. If you are building a strong motor for this red baby run something that will take the hits your going to put on it. keep it going Dude good channel.
You go y the most wonderful collection of cars, and a jewel of a truck , have you thought, bout wrapping the f100 ? The red Galaxies is unique ! Don't lower it more keep it in line .
Definitely no judgment if you run wheel spacer! Those wheels look very nice on the back. If it were me, I'd run them but maybe get a slightly smaller wheel spacer to get a little more gap, maybe a 1.5 inch.
Love the new wheels I am super stoked too see this car come together ive been watching your channel for awhile and absolutely love what your doing and truth be told i like the red car better the white one is cool and all but im super excited too see what happens next
14:30 was me last week I daily drive a 88 dodge w150 shorty because my 99 F1SHITTY blew up got rid of it severely rusted electrical issues ext. I bought a super clean 01 second gen dodge ram sport 4x4 and I found new love until the rear left wheel fell off. Put it in 4x4 limped it off the road let it sit for 5 months lost motivation. Hated driving my back killer 88 despite the reactions from others and how well it looks i only had 3 studs holding my 01 sport wheel on so I creeped it at the end of the driveway washed the yellow paint it has polished my American racing wheels sat there and made me smile. And this week i fixed it up and actually drove it. I was away this past weekend and all I could think about was wrench meanwhile I was already having drinks and enjoying a beautiful camp ground. The littlest shit fucking gets me going
craig i feel same way about the spacers. you cant put the beans to it with the spacers on it. just for the mean time why dont you just put thinner spacers on the hub. i have a 67 mustang with a lincoln 9” rear. the lincoln rear i have is one and a half in to short. i have 3/4” spacers on mine and i cant put the beans to mine, thats ok it keeps me out of trouble. those 3/4” spacer put my shelby ten spoke exactly where they need to be. i plan to get a 9” rear correct length for my mustang so i can put the beans to her.
Similar wheels as I'm running on my 66f100, which I bolted in the crown Vic swap for the final time. My wheels are from an 05 mustang with ford center caps
Washing my projects doesn't motivate me but watching other guys making progress surely does. My 64 Galaxie is getting full air ride. Videos should be up soon. Share the love! Keep up the learning and building!
The red galaxy has caused you a lot of problems in the past but I know it’s got a good home and can’t wait for the big block to go in it with the 4 speed
cool wheels! but I think vintage style drag wheels would look cooler in your car! with a thin one at the front and a wider one at the rear. but in any case I am happy to see the progress of your projects!
I like the wheels. Why not run the spacer? I know it’s not ideal but it’s not dangerous either. People don’t think twice about running 2 inch spacers on high power cars in Japan. Just paint them black so you don’t see them and run them until you find the perfect set. Can’t wait to see some more work on the red galaxie whenever you get to to it though.
Wow craig, those wheels are sick, way cool.i hope you can get the same style in size you need.let us know!!!would love them on my 2002 grand cherokee my bolt pattern is 5×5. 17 inch not sure of my back spacing, hell maybe theyll work, what you want for them.?anyhow you must get those wheels in right size for the red n white, even looks cool on truck.wheels make a car stand out!!snookie pa.
Hello, I bought a 64 galaxie. I was wondering if you had time to tell me what wheel and size and tire size will fit well. I was thinking of getting a torq thrust type wheel. Cool videos by the way
While I love your devotion to the Blue Oval...the only car company in the USA that didn't suck up a mess of tax money, after going bankrupt...I don't understand the priority of doing everything else to the car, except repairing the massive rust damage you pointed out previously. Rebuilding the front end and adding disk brakes is really good, but not really in sequence.
It's weird to think of your project car (mine being my '65 El Camino) being bought new by someone, and them just driving it... Not sitting on jacks, or putting a ton of work into it, but just using it as a functional automobile.
I know I’m one of those OGs. I’ve been here since you drove your truck with open headers to school and rev battled a C10. =)
For what it’s worth, on my 1963-1/2 Galaxie 500, I run 275/40ZR18 tires on 18x9.5 wheels with -4mm/5.031" BSM at the rear. Wait I count as one of the OG‘s I was here back when you were first getting the galaxy man it’s been that long
The part where you mentioned cleaning up the paint helps with motivation, and I definitely agree with that. Those wheels just go so well with the car. Looks good.

With leaf springs the rear axle can move left to right a little under hard turns so that gap might be kinda small. Its hard to tell on camera
Love the white '64 looking forward to more of the red '64,,started watching on the red and have enjoyed all the videos keep'em coming will be great to see more of the red '64 and as always thanks for sharing and you know "Howdy from Texas "!!

Not usually a fan of the torque thrust look but those look good.
10 inch wheel with a 5 inch backspace works pretty good on the 60-64 galaxies
IMO, the early-mid 60s, big body cars look *great* on something like the AR VN511 Salt Flat. I am pretty much at the "I loathe Torq Thrust style wheels" stage of my life, so those would not be my choice, but as long as you like 'em, that's all that counts.

I can't wait to see the red galaxy up and running. Those wheel and tire combo looks good on it.
Hello when I was 15 years people driving their cars back of the car jack up the front lower to the ground!!
i agree 100% about washing it and putting wheels on to find motivation. great video
Those wheels would look great on the CV chassis under the F100! Look great on the Galaxie as is.
If you jack the car up from frame not diff the rear end will drop enough to fit large wheels no problem
Looks just like it did when I saw one for the first time as a kid!
Yeah, that's what your truck definitely needs.
You go y the most wonderful collection of cars, and a jewel of a truck , have you thought, bout wrapping the f100 ? The red Galaxies is unique ! Don't lower it more keep it in line .

Hey bud busted knuckles sticker was new too. I dropped shipped it straight of ebay . Enjoy stickers and I'll enjoy videos.
I would add the dual Reservoir Power master cylinder Set up From the 69 as well.
My grandma had a 1964 galxaxie 500 390 XL car,we still have it
Like the rims.
If you stay w/ the '69 M-C I hope you can/will use a vac. Booster. 4000# is alot to stop esp w/ discs.
I don’t like spacers either but I would make an exception with those rims
OG Gang, been here since the episode you put an electric fuel pump in the F100.
14:30 was me last week I daily drive a 88 dodge w150 shorty because my 99 F1SHITTY blew up got rid of it severely rusted electrical issues ext. If you’re planning on putting wheels that are 10 inches wide on your white Galaxie, it will look more like a race car to me! Johnny, Montréal, Canada!
craig i feel same way about the spacers. you cant put the beans to it with the spacers on it. just for the mean time why dont you just put thinner spacers on the hub. i have a 67 mustang with a lincoln 9” rear. the lincoln rear i have is one and a half in to short. i have 3/4” spacers on mine and i cant put the beans to mine, thats ok it keeps me out of trouble. those 3/4” spacer put my shelby ten spoke exactly where they need to be. i plan to get a 9” rear correct length for my mustang so i can put the beans to her.
I can def identify with cleaning up giving you more motivation. Those wheels are amazing, even if they don't really fit.
That is the wheel and tire set up for that car, just run the spacers. If they are a quality spacer you will be fine.
OGs lol. I’ve been here since open headers in the school parking lot.
Best looking wheels of all ...
Looks like the cragers i ran on my falcon in the 70's
Similar wheels as I'm running on my 66f100, which I bolted in the crown Vic swap for the final time. My wheels are from an 05 mustang with ford center caps
Great projects. I was wondering if you have an extra 1964 Galaxie outer headlight bezel. RH.
How about use a 1 inch spacer instead?
Washing my projects doesn't motivate me but watching other guys making progress surely does. My 64 Galaxie is getting full air ride. Videos should be up soon. Share the love! Keep up the learning and building!
Just put my 64 galaxie in the garage! Its wimbledon white with 289. Rebuilt motor and 3 speed cruise o matic
Your Galaxie vids are the best. Thanks.
I can´t wait to see more progress on this thing. Those rims go so good with thee car and the red. This thing is gonna be awesome. Great content Craig.
Stick the motor in first then do the rest around it.Will keep the job easier
Those style of wheels really look great on red car!! 😎
So are you building both the white and red galaxie?
Can you get spacers on the back that aren't as tall?
Yes indeed love the galaxies and the truck
they can have the bird emblem with a 390 as well
Yuss... missin the red Galaxie👍
You should repaint the white one the factory color with some large flake.
Those wheels look great on the car..
Dude looks sick af looks like something off of fast and the furious🤤💪🏼
Those 5 spokes would look great on the F100 and amke more sense than those slicks you've got now.
My dad had white one just like that, reminds me of him, thanks love the videos..
Run those wheels on the Truck for now. Looks really good man!
Looks great the red Galaxie needs those wheels!
I’m a real og I’ve been here since the first start and drive if the f100
Looking good Craig really liking the offset
I like the wheels. Why not run the spacer? I know it’s not ideal but it’s not dangerous either. People don’t think twice about running 2 inch spacers on high power cars in Japan. That's what color my Fairlane was, new. Rangoon red.
Those are the right wheels.👍
Do a smaller spacer and leave the wheels on the back
Wow craig, those wheels are sick, way cool.i hope you can get the same style in size you need.let us know!!!would love them on my 2002 grand cherokee my bolt pattern is 5×5. 17 inch not sure of my back spacing, hell maybe theyll work, what you want for them.?anyhow you must get those wheels in right size for the red n white, even looks cool on truck.wheels make a car stand out!!snookie pa.
Hello, I bought a 64 galaxie. I was wondering if you had time to tell me what wheel and size and tire size will fit well. I was thinking of getting a torq thrust type wheel. Cool videos by the way
Great color and great wheels
Why don't you run an 8.8 out of a mustang or explorer with disc conversion to run the bullet wheels with no spacer?
Have You checked the width of the CV front end? You may be Limited to Wheels and Wheel width?
Hi it Chris I have a 64 xl blue one I like the wheels but there to wide thanks .
I need that bracket hanging from that brake line... Name your price...@ time stamp 16:35
Keep those wheels on it!!!
Very cool, man!
Honestly your videos get me off my ass to work in my 55 I have everything to just get it in the road I’m just lazyyy
Like the red galaxy but I'm waiting on the f100 build cv swap
Those wheels were made for that car! Look to good to not figure out a way to make it happen.
Twins how far apart are vin numbers
Friend of mine had two 1968 chevelle SS 396 4 speed convertibles vin numbers where like 123 124 thats twines close
First. Like how the red Galaxie was first but yet the white Galaxie got fixed first.
Kinda helps when the camshaft doesn't break in half
You should put your NASCAR weels on it
Love the wheels, get a smaller spacer and run them. Just my opinion
Do you regret cutting the fenders
thanks for another great show been watching you awhile looks like you doing a o k keep it up your awsome
Very, very happy 😃
Keep up the work there feller, also I was wondering how you have to do school with all this corona stuff going around?
Yeah still would roll/ fold the lip up and inwards.
Keep up the great work!
Home boy is worried about rust that gets put into a knuckle on the balljoint
Are all wheels universal fit or do ford wheels stay with ford cars? Can I put a Chevy wheel on a dodge car?
I've been waiting for this!
Cual es el costo de los productos a mexico
first off that pimple on your neck looks very painful XD and see guys i remember him bringing home the ROLLED 69 F-250!
05 mustang have the same kind of rims but they are not deep dish rims
It's weird to think of your project car (mine being my '65 El Camino) being bought new by someone, and them just driving it... Not sitting on jacks, or putting a ton of work into it, but just using it as a functional automobile.
Nice I got a 64 falcon
Wheel adapters will cause premature bearing wear it takes the load and moves it off the center of the hub. But I'm sure you know that
Looks awesome. Wheels are bitchin.
