Nothing wrong with the song. Nothing wrong with the South. Nothing wrong with the rebel flag, except stupid, misguided individuals have to let it be a symbol of racism, bigotry, pretending Dixie won the Civil War, and slavery as an institution should have continued on to this day. THAT is wrong..
bret shaw the Franklin county Rebel Pride Marching Band (aka FCHS REBEL PRIDE BAND) also play "From Dixie with Love" and it makes me feel so at home and alive when I hear and play it. You can look up FCHS Marching Band or FCHS Rebel Pride Marching band to see our half time show and to see us perform.
As a Dawg fan, I can speak for the ENTIRE SOUTH when I say that this is OUR SONG! If that offends you, as Lewis Grizzard, another great Georgia Bulldog once said "Delta is ready when you are!" From Dixie With Love FOREVER!!!!
As a yankee that moved south as a kid and was forced to play this song in band, I appreciate and remember it with the highest sentimentality. I was a trumpet player and LOVED this song and especially the drumline. Dixieland forever...
You know I went to Jack c hays high school, Kyle, Texas class of 2004. I do like the Dixie song always have always will be and I still got the real flag and I still support it thumbs up.
As a Tennessee Vols and Ole Miss Rebels fanatic I gotta say I do miss hearing Dixieland at the Miss games. Love hearing it as much as Rocky Top! Volunteer Rebel 4 Life!
My high school plays Dixie and I'm proud of it! This song brings back SO many memories! Cant wait for two more football seasons of amazing memories and Dixie!!
Now, this is music! God bless the south! I am so sad/mad/frustrated/etc. that the Ole Miss admin cut both these songs from the bands line-up. Beautiful, beautiful music
Never thought I was being racist or waved the confederate flag and hating blacks in the stadiums I've been in. Apparently, I was! I despise political correctness!
When you're in the stands and the drums come in at that 1:37 mark, just blows you away. Body moving with the bum bum bum bum....and picks up so by the time the team was running on the field everyone was out of their seats. It was a wonderful feeling and these are beautiful pieces of music that if you didn't know what it was you would have no complaints. All of the different instruments being played and being able to hear them so clearly makes me want to listen over and over just to listen to the individual pieces.
Nothing better than the way the Ole Miss band plays Dixie!!! Simply BEAUTIFUL!!! This takes me back so many years since I was a student cheering for the Rebels with my Rebel flag singing Dixie with my hand over my heart. Nothing but Rebel football pride.
In my America we stand for the Star Spangled Banner whenever we hear it and either render a salute or place our hand over our heart. We also stand when we hear Dixie.
I guess this will only stay in my memories, as a child I didn’t know then how powerful of memories those football games growing up would be later in life and I regret taking advantage of that
I'm a Dawg fan(Georgia) but this music is for ALL SOUTHERNERS! And I always shed a tear when I hear "from Dixie with love". The bravery those young Confederate Soldiers had!!!! I will ALWAYS honor you!❤
Excellent job by the OM band. Tell your kids about their heritage. Hint: maybe the federal government IS power hungry and self interested. A government called to arms against its own seems ridiculous, but here we are again.
Awesome song! Love Dixie! This was one of my favorite songs to play when I was in the high school band. We some times played it in place of the fight song exiting the field after the halftime show. Unfortunately, the band is not allowed to play it anymore.
When i was in high school our mascot was the Rebels, brings back memories hearing Dixieland again only we had the cavalry tune at the beginning (they stopped playing it in my junior year). A lost treasure.....
