This lecture is part of the Frank B. Roehr Memorial Lecture Series, which was established by Mr. Roehr's daughter, Suzanne Angelucci, to inform the public on topics associated with the power of humor and positive thinking. I'll give you the Cliff Notes version: From this moment forward, you are *NOT ALLOWED* to give up on yourself, your family members, your friends, etc. Also, it helps to tell others what you are struggling with, even if you think they can do nothing to help you.
1. Cultivate Optimism - see difficult times as temporary.
2. Shift Your Focus -
3.
I can’t wait any longer for the points .. anyone out there want to help?

resilient people are motivating people who consider life difficulties as challenges rather than problems.
Thank you for sharing this valuable information
sound
Yes connection fundamental! Well there's alot of loneliness nowadays.
Such important information. Very profound and a powerful lecture. Thank you. It is a privilege, and an honour, to be alive when this information is accessible to our society and our generation. The hard work that has gone into developing and acquiring such knowledge to then share with our population is just grand.
Thank you Dr. Darlene for the inspirational talk on Resilience . Thank you so much .
Thank you for providing this video on resilience. It’s so thought provocative and interesting

Good Stuff ... the Mindfulness - catching YR. Thought and bringing it back to the Task builds YR Mindfulness . Now I get what I've been doing with my Therapist ... CR.
Optimism is living like the bee, always looking for the sweet nectar in the most colorful and beautiful flowers, while pessimism is living like the fly, who is always looking for garbage and dirt to land on, even if the most beautiful fragrant flowers are around.
Thank you Dr. Mininni. psychology is my love..I feel like it is the core of humans.
It is so serious that.. I think states should include psychotherapy in being a requirement for habitual violators.
As a matter of fact.. it should be taught in slight as early as possible in schools instead of waiting until high school.
Amazing lecture and highly understandable American English. Thanks a lot!
thank you Dr darlene for such an inspiring and amazing lecture and book
Thank you for the wonderful lecture. Very useful information
Thank you. Brilliant speaker, speak very clearly and slowly. The subject is precisely explained.. I am optimistic, so I learn something.
The only thing I don't know how to meditate. I have tried it before, my mind is wandering. I want to learn more, tried more. Thank you so much for sharing XXXX greatly appreciated. Lovely
That was a really insightful and thought-provoking interview. I particularly appreciated the idea that Siegel mentioned about the mind being both embodied and relational; what a wonderful world it would be to exercise our compassion muscles in our minds and in our physical world.
GREAT, AWESOME AND APPRECIATIVE 👌👍👏👏👏👏
Even in a difficult time just imagine you're not alone and that the storm will be over. With this you can conquer resillience.
So simplistic. people arevwsg more complicated than that.
Being optimistic during tough times: requires a lot of practice!
nice job. Thanks for sharing!!!!! Helpful!!!!
I was going to say that this talk needs chapters, so I guess I am not resilient enough to get through it. :)
Well, gotta love you "highbrows" but I find a good amount of humor in you too.
Here you are giving a lecture of on "Post Traumatic Growth"; totally amazed that you've never heard of it before. But, here's where you young intellectuals get funny...just look back over you shoulder. In my days it was (and still is by common sense folks) called "WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER." Now there's your whole lecture in SEVEN WORDS!!!
I really hope they are ni e to the rats and mice when using them vs dad harmful experiments. How would we know:(
Very sensible and useful.if you doubt it its very easy to experimrnt on your own .takes little time.be a scientist of your own life.
41:20 Express your grief 44:23
Very in depth studies done by the speaker translated into very simple strategies.
Dr. Darlene, I really appreciate this production. I am preparing a resilience program to help the Latinx population and create digital content. Thank you!

Uplifting presentation on the human spirit. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing such interesting information!
No one seems to have noticed the big falsehood 27 mins into this talk.
"Look at things as they are, but not worse than they are!"
This is being touted as realistic optimism when actually it's simply being realistic, not optimistic. They want to try and distance themselves from the Pollyanna accusations being made against this market driven rather than science driven move in academic psychology since Seligman became influential.
16:12 Starts
what is successful AGING
What I learned in1 hr 27 mins will improve my life if I applied it. I wish I saw this earlier. Dr. Darleen is Amazing....
I worked with dually diagnosed clients', adapting to the broad range of abilities...I assigned a group walk (no talking please) look for signs of autumn on your walk, come back and share with group, Most folks enjoyed it...we shared about feelings that arise with signs of autumn. Positive feedback about group. Thank you for your nourishing presentation. Meg Young
Uh, How to thrive in life? Does that mean how to be successful? The last thing this world needs is more ambitious people. Gave up on this after a few minutes.
It's a shame this doesn't have more views - it's a lovely and productive video. Explains some of the research, gives some practical advice to back up the theory, and clarifies some sticking points where things can be confused. Great job!
Being optimistic when things are not so good is about enjoying each moment, each interaction and keeping the self belief high even when others are letting doubt in ... In the end the win is all the more sweeter .... I lived in my car for over a year ... What an amazing year it was for me ... ❤️
the slideshow reminds me of PATHOMA!!!
19:17 "20% of people are born optimistic" So, optimism is now an innate virtue? It seems to me that this trait isn't built-in, but learned.
Read about Epigenetics. The role of our ancestors in the future generations and their exposure to stress and how successfull they were at dealing with it.
Its built in

This is amazing!
Had the twenty years test been done on me I would have been in almost the worst stage of my life 😄
I have a Ph.D. in psychology so I'm familiar with the research. It's very nice for people who are already emotionally healthy, but it has no relevance to people who suffer from neurosis or personality disorders.
Emily Corwith that’s not The way it is with me I have several disorders along with depression and chronic pain and A lot of trauma and I understood this talk it made sense to me so what are you talking about Mr. PhD.
That comment is so wrong, it's dangerous.
I would expect someone with a Ph.D to be more able to relate to this. But I guess we all come from our own experiences.
Rock stars? Really.
Thank you !!! :)
nothing new, but so hard to achieve ...
Amazing talk. Great lecturer. She is so smart and so concise, so clear, taking research from so many researchers, so natural, so captivating with real amazing stories. Feel bad for the woman who thought she killed grandma by not cleaning up. Social connection only once three weeks. Gratitude. Acknowledging the very sad. Mindfulness. Power over your body. Grateful for this talk.
get to the point
When you feel depressed and remember a difficult time and you are alone how do you retern to reality!?
LAMO!
Have to support Matt N
We really hope she knew what the point of her talk was. at least she reads fluently
It seems was a political person in blue like a greek president but we dont see the colour of the flag!
her hair is distracting.
Cut out all the blah-blah and the irrelevant background and just get to the point what to do. It’s a truly awful video.
What's with the "rock stars" references. Rock music has been dead for long time lady.
