There's no need to use spring compressors or a ratchet strap on a Defender, undo the damper bottom mount and jack up on the chassis, then push the axle down (watch the flexi brake line) and remove the old spring that should have no tension on. If I were you I'd go to machine mart and buy a 3 ton trolley jack and large stands, makes life easier. 👍
please tell me you at least torqued the wheel nuts when it was back on the ground
