This is and has been my go to “no makeup” base for years. I also tried this in the stick version…the gel cream is way better. I love the healthy glow it gives.
The shade range on this has always been limited because it's a tint, not a full-blown foundation. They've actually added shades over the years so the range is still better than it was. Also, it's meant to be sheered out and layering too much of it will cause it to go greasy, in my experience. Same with using too many products underneath it. Less has always seemed to work better with the Complexion Rescue. All of that said, I've convinced myself that BareMinerals has tweaked the formula because it doesn't seem to work as well for me as it used to. 🤷🏻♀️
I agree the product can be sheer out to great lengths! I only spot conceal underneath and it gives a beautiful glowing natural coverage. I lightly powder the bits I don't want to shine to much. I also find that it looks better after it's been worn for an hour or two
@@Ripleychan I've always let it "set up" for a good 10 or so minutes before going in to touch-up and apply blush, highlighter, etc. No idea why I started doing that but it's been my application process since forever with this. She definitely wears better with time. 👍🏼
They didn't change the formula, lol. It's your skin that has changed! It's OK though...it happens A lot as you get older. Products that you used to love, just don't look good on your skin anymore. I've had similar experiences as I've gotten older, and unfortunately had to say goodbye to holy grail Products that I'd loved since I first began wearing makeup in the 90s. Hope you've found a new product that works for you though, it sucks when that happens!
Omg the storm 🤣 So funny. I'm STILL loving the WnW tinted hydrator. However, we have similar skin and I've been loving the Danessa Myricks balm powder ever since I reviewed it. I can wear any foundation now or skip it since there are tinted shades and no more crazy oils! Also doesn't dry out my dehydration and blurs my skin. Thank goodness someone finally invented something for us oily folks that actually works. You gotta try it Cassie!
This is my favorite foundation. I prefer light coverage stuff as I tend to focus most of my attention on skin care and hate foundation in general. I hate the feeling of something all over my face and pretty much everything breaks me out. 😑 This is very light feeling and it's one in a thousand that not only doesn't irritate my very sensitive, finicky skin, but it actually has helped improve my skin a bit. I love this formula!! My only issue is the shade range. I'm not even the palest person on earth but even the lightest shade is a tad too dark for me so I have to try and lighten it up with powder after. Just an FYI, however: You really don't need a huge shade range for light coverage foundations & tints. What they offer is actually pretty acceptable overall, but they could definitely benefit from at least 1 shade lighter and maybe one more shade in the deep section. But honestly most everyone else could make the other shades work except for really pale people (and, no, I don't want to mess with the formula by adding in a lightener). So, while this doesn't need to be a 40 shade range product at all, if they just added in 1-2 shades more on the fair and deep side, it would be perfection! As for application, I personally prefer to use it by just dotting on my face with a finger, gently rubbing it in the areas with larger pores to kinda "fill" them in, and then using a Beauty Blender to smooth everything out. That works the best for me personally. Never cared for brush application myself.
Looks really nice. Good colour match. I've been using Bare Minerals powder foundation, blushes, bronzer, eyeshadows and lipglosses for many years and I'm a big fan. I'll definitely try this tinted moisturiser when the Clarins BB cream I'm using runs out.
I purchased 3 single shadows from them yrs ago. A few months back I had to toss out only one. That says a lot about the quality imo. When I say yrs I'm talking more like close to 15. I know we shouldn't keep our makeup for that long but after testing and giving them the smell test I figured why should I, lol...
I mean, for someone as fair as me, who will look like an orange with the lightest shade, the shade range is bad. It’s unfortunate they don’t have paler shades available for everyone.
This one did well but I'm sticking with my W&W tinted hydrator. Works just as well and you can't beat the price. This is also coming from someone who never wore a liquid foundation... 🙂
I find that if I use Complexion Rescue a few…to several days in a row that my skin looks just overall good. Something to consider. Thanks for the review!!
Hi Cassie, it's great to see you smile so much! 😊 Yes this product has been around for quite some time, I've never tried it though. It does look pretty on you, Cassie!
I tried this a long time ago, I hated it. It felt greasy, looked shiny, and didn't blend well. Maybe it won't be too bad if I try it again, maybe adding a powder is better. I don't like shiny and dewy looks on me, so maybe that's why I hated it, so this is very personal. But maybe, I'll try again. Sometimes you hate something and then like it.
Will you test Chanel beauty les beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch? It’s light/medium coverage for very light makeup look and I wonder how would like perform on oily skin for natural/no make up look
There was something so funky about this product on my skin, perhaps just didn't interact well w/ my skin care products but it wouldn't blend, was patchy and parts of my face almost repelled the product it was real wild.
Quite frankly I understand why there are limited shades for certain brands etc. Because there is a class and pay grade divide in society between different ethnic groups. Adding more shades won’t change that inequality.
I had this in my Sephora cart and I happened to get it in my boxy, and I love it, but I was expecting to love it, but the lasting power has exceeded all my expectations.
This review was perfect timing for me!! I have been researching tinted moisturizers for oily skin and was torn between Saie, BM and the Laura mercier one. This review was very helpful! I’m going with the saie!
I think you'll love it. It's the only foundation I use cause it's light coverage (what I prefer), and after trying probably over 100 other foundations, it's the only one that not only DOESN'T break me out, but seems to improve my skin over time. My only issue is they really need to add 1-2 more shades to the fair side. I'm not even the palest person in the world and the lightest shade is still too dark for me. Other than that, the rest of the shade range is decent as lighter coverage foundations and tints can work on many different skin tones.
Gone are those days when they use to play Phil Colin's "I wanna Know" and they played that pretty much since the late '80s up till maybe 10years ago. They played that for many years on the radio. Now it's probably considered GTO. Lol
So I have excessively oily skin and I live in Texas. This came in my boxy too and I had the same feeling at the end of the day with the “dry” look. It isn’t uncommon for this to happen to me with plenty of foundations though. This one has SO little coverage. I actually prefer the colourpop one over this one by a long shot.
Was the thing you tried before from the Ordinary? Their squeeze tubes are in a similar beige gold packaging, reminded me of the natural moisturizing factor
Great review as always. I love these. But question, do you powder down/set the face in any way when testing? Pretty sure you don't but just clarifying, especially for newer viewers. And wow! That storm! Stay safe 💜💜
@@Mama_Bear2017 Yes, I'm aware. Long time subscriber here. Was asking 4 the newer people/people in general, as when doing a foundation/primer review, it's great to know if setting powders or sprays are used 😉😊
The packaging is very similar to the Smashbox Halo tinted moisturizer, maybe you tried that one? Anyway... I hated the Complexion Rescue because my pored looked huge (and they're not even large to start with!) but you make me want to try it again😅
Wait, it said it was a mineral based sunscreen, but one of the ingredient highlights was 'oxybenzone'? I can use chemical or combo sunscreens, but not with that particular chemical sunscreen. I'm surprised to even see it in the ingredient list! Also, I'm not sure that vegan implies cruelty free. They may not use animal ingredients in the formula, but that doesn't mean it's not tested on animals.
Thank you for not including the shade range as a con, but still mentioning the limitations. This shows growth in you and that you’re listening to your viewers.
Yes! I don't even have acne prone skin but this product messed up my skin for months. I usually have very clear, good skin. This gave me deep pimples all over and they scarred my skin. I'm scared to use Bare Minerals face products ever again.
Just because a product is vegan does NOT mean it’s cruelty-free. The two terms aren’t related in cosmetics at all. A vegan product is just made without animal or insect products. It can still be tested on animals. You need to see the “cruelty free” label, the leaping bunny certification, etc. to ensure it’s not tested on animals.

Its a tinted moisturizer. It doenst need to have a tonne of shades. Its a moisturizer not a foundation.

Pleaseeee stop saying every single shade range is bad for for every product. It’s not viable for every line in every brand to have 70 shades.
