Felix worked with a JYP Labs producer called Shim Eun-Jee (he wrote the lyrics, they composed it together, and she arranged it and played the piano). When it came out, she posted a note on her Instagram about their collaboration and was full of praise for him.
If I remember correctly, she was asked by someone at Division 1 if she was interested in working with a member of one of their boy groups (she usually works more for girl groups) and she had no idea who Felix was.
She also said that she was very impressed by his voice and how easily he could follow her directions for the harmonies, and that we haven't heard Felix' full potential, yet.
There is no more behind the scenes than this (as far as I'm aware) other than Felix talking about the lyrics on various occasions, so it is hard to tell how much influence she had in bringing out all these qualities of his voice so beautifully. But I think she really supported him well in the part that she played and it would be cool if they worked together again, if he ever wanted to explore this style of songs more.

His harmonising with himself is so unexpected. I remember playing it back my first time just to be sure I heard what I heard! I believe he wrote this himself.

Our man covered 3 octaves in this song! He also wrote it and helped produce this song. He's so versatile! Only Felix could harmonize with himself in this way. It's just crazy!

This song is one of my favorites of stray kids. He wrote the lyrics and talks about them a little. My favorite part is also the harmonization's of his voice and like you love his deeper tones. I have heard many many vocalist with deep voices but Felix's vocals are so much more that you do feel it in your soul when he sings. I think you will also like the video where Felix and Bang Chan do a karaoke cover song Zion. They scored a 100 on the song. His vocals are so amazing in this song and so different. Thank you for correcting those trying to spread misinformation about the credits for this song. Felix is my bias BUT i hate fans who try to steal credit from others instead of giving credit to both Felix and the composer SEJ.
I believe in giving credit where credit is due & I don't think we have to erase others contribution to appreciate what Felix does on this song.
FELIX is so versatile
Felix really does seem to have at 3 different guys in his throat. 👀🤣 The first time I heard this song it definitely surprised me as well. I started paying attention in their other songs to see if/when Felix gets to show off his range. I know from other clips Ive seen that Felix isnt the most confident about his mid-range voice. But in songs like Any and Leave for example, he uses both low and mid range.
Its funny how much this same kind of thing also applies to Changbin. If you only saw God's Menu and then listened to Because (Felix and Changbin), it would blow your mind. Changbin has a super sweet vocal tone. It's like he's giving you a hug. And just like Felix's deep voice, Changbin's aggresive rap is like machine gun punches to the face.

Felix is literally a solo choir. A one man band. If that makes sense lol. He has so much more to give and I'm wholeheartedly here for it ❤.
Felix wrote the lyrics while sitting in the park in one day. Sim Eun Ji composed it with Felix and Sim Eun Ji arranged it.
Parks have been the springboards for some of the greatest songs ever! The trees need some royalty payments! lol
@@AmariLeone Well with a sweetheart like Felix who's known for very generously donating to charity...I'm sure that park will most definitely get a little something 😉. In the very least that park and those trees already gained the privilege of his beautiful voice singing to them while trying to write his beautiful lyrics 💕. I'm not a botanist but don't they say you should speak or sing to your plants lol? Those are some lucky trees/plants who witnessed this incredible song in its infancy.

I first heard this song while wearing headphones, while driving my motor bike. I had just downloaded the album as soon as it was out and couldn’t wait to get home, so I played it while driving home.
I thought it was Felix and another group of people collaborating. I had no idea it was just him.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I stopped to look at the actual picture of the song and saw only him and read the cover. 😮

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but apart from SKZ being fans of Billie Eilish, Felix has covered songs by Finneas during the MANIAC Tour. So I think he got inspo from that too

Felix is SO amazing with his vocal range! Love him! Just for fun, you should check out an artist named Dimash, his vocal range is off the charts, literally his highest note goes beyond any other human voice!
On my very first listen to this song, I could have sworn there were 3 different people singing it. I was shocked and moved.
you should def react to felix and changbin's live performance of their duet song "because", felix's voice in this song is how i became a skz fan (heard a snippet of his outro on it lol). It's such a good song they both sound great and felix is singing with his deep voice in this one except for one part where he harmonizes with changbin using his higher register.

Actually, Felix and another JYP artist\producer, Sim Eunjee, wrote the song :)
Felix's singing is so beautiful, he is an ANGEL (Like Hyunjin calls him all the time!), and his voice here matches his personality.
STAY knows how much his different his deep and full voice doesn't match his warm, fun, and funny personality. He's like a Sunshine (It's one of his nicknames actually)
That's a great nickname for him
Beside Taste and Muddy water , you should try Wow by the Danceracha aka Hyunjin, Leeknow and of course Felix.
This Song is on "SKZ-Replay" which was released directly after Maxident (which had Taste on it) in 2022. Replay was a HUGE (25 song) Album the first half of which were written for the album - Including Deep End - The second half is a collection of tracks that were previously only on YT.

I'm going to break off my comment in two because it's LONG. I definitely recomend the album this song is a part of, SKZ-REPLAY (you'll find it on their RUclips channel if you want the official videos). You get 8 individual songs, and it's super interesting to see what musical color each of them chose to present themselves. There are more songs on that album, of course, starting with FAM (it has an MV, it's on the "SKZ-REPLAY" playlist... have you heard anything from that one?) and #LoveStay (also has an MV, it's on the album playlist) but my point today is about those 8 songs.
Since you started with Felix, you could do the maknae line first: Han's "Run", Seungmin's "Stars and Raindrops" and I.N's "Hug Me". And then the hyung line: Bang Chan's "Connected", Lee Know's "Limbo", Changbin's "Doodle" and Hyunjin's "Love Untold". Or do however you want, choose your own adventure!
They also recently did something like this on their lastest tour, where 6 of them performed new individual songs, while Lee Know and I.N performed their SKZ-Replay's song live for the first time. I recommend videos of that as well, specially to watch Lee Know's face when fans did a fanchant after he jokingly said they should on a live after one of the first performances and literally the next day, people did 😭❤️
Felix's song there is VERY different from Deep End, btw. In that case they don't follow the age order, and Felix is actually the first with "Rev It Up" (before his stage they performed the Kingdom version of Wolfgang and Miroh and the ending of that connects with his song). Then Han's "Don't Say" (I'm obsessed with that song), Seungmin's "Perfume", I.N's "Hug Me", Lee Know's "Limbo", Bang Chan's "Baby", Hyunjin's "Mic and Brush" (he very clearly focuses on the dance while performing, but be sure both the lyrics, the singing from the track are his, he's even credited as one of the composers on the wiki page) and Changbin's "My Name" (which if you love the Bintro of Thunderous, you're going to love as well).
12:08 to answer you, although I inferred it on my first comment, the individual songs on SKZ-REPLAY album (and the ones from the solo stages on the latest tour too) are written by the person singing*. I know Felix talked about the lyrics somewhere, but I don't remember exactly where.
*"Stars and Raindrops" is Seungmin and Hong Ji Sang (whom I don't know, but wiki names him, so I pass on the info to you).
*About "FAM", the lyrics are credited to 3RACHA and for "Love Stay", lyrics credits goes to Hyunjin, Felix and I.N.

A similar song is Gone Away by Han, Seungmin, and I.N. It has a little more production than this song (more instrumentation) but still very amazing vocally, lyrically, and the video is cinematically moving. not a bop. not a banger. but embodies emotion.
