Read the Thumbnail wrong at first and was like "What? Party effects? Yeah, let's go! " .... I need the weekend.

Ooof, iLok. I don't buy plugins that use that.
Honestly, I don't buy a lot of VSTs. Cherry Audio, TAL, U-he, VCV Rack, Valhalla, AudioThing, maybe a couple more. There's a lot of good free stuff and with VCV Rack and PlugData (PureData that can run as a CLAP plugin) I can build synths and FX. I mean, I have a free SQ80, a free Virus B/C, Prophet, OB-X and SEM, Korg PS-3300 (and a collection of other old Korgs), a couple of Farfisas, a Hammond, a Rhodes. I built a CS80 in PlugData. Spent a month on that last one. Studying the manual, listening to people playing the CS80. I've paid for a few classics as well -- the TAL Jupiter 8, the Cherry Audio CS80 (for research on my version) and Arp 2600.
I have an (obviously) smaller collection than you, but I have the classic synths I want, new cool stuff like Helm and Vital and guitars and violins, etc. and a ton of sound fonts, Decent Sampler (which is really just a pretty sound font), lots of FX. I reserve the right to ignore companies who use intrusive licensing schemes or subscriptions. Heck, the whole Bitwig cash grab attempt last year is one of the reasons I'm moving to Reaper. I understand, you have less of a choice, you have a professional need to acquire all the hot stuff that people expect you to have. I don't.
I'll tell you what I miss though -- the Delay Lama. I made a song with that 20 years ago, Future Primitive Zarathustra with the Delay Lama as lead vocalist. Cover of Also Spract Zarathustra, obv.
Oh, and btw, great series. A lot of this I've got on my own, but you're doing a great 101 and I'm picking up good tips.

You should do a video on installing and using VSTs on a portable version of Reaper. Some of the installs put files on the PC and not on the USB. It's not an issue with the drag and drop dlls, but some of the others are problematic. Cheers.
