    Getting the person in charge of collision to watch a speed run is just cruel.

    • @resident9248
      @resident9248 4 года назад +234

      @ You're just being crass for the sake of it. Even near the end it was mentioned that there wasn't anything super game breaking done here.
      There was a small handful of collisions that weren't present when they looked like they should have been there. That's about it. No matter the game players usually find leftover bugs anyways. So it's not really a suprise and if anything adds to the depth of the players runs and becomes more impressive.

    Something for devs to consider:
    The fact that they’re completing the game so quickly doesn’t actually diminish the amount of work you put in the game. Yes, you expect them to take longer, and, in the context of that clip it seems like they breezed past everything and sorta invalidated your work... however, within that clip you don’t get to see how many hundreds of hours of play time the runner put in, practicing, routing, perfecting their skill with the game, if anything, speedrunners likely spend more time on the games they run than the average casual playthrough.

    • @anthrosaurian
      @anthrosaurian 4 года назад +37

      Oh heck yea... playing the same level over and over to memorize every surface, every zone, every npc, every sprite, etc.. then replaying them repeatedly to maximize efficiency in their own run, then watching other players to watch for new ways to improve their runs....

    • @Purpletrident
      @Purpletrident 4 года назад +36

      Yeah, it's understated how much speedrunners respect games. They have the most appreciation than most players.

    • @astro2191
      @astro2191 4 года назад +26

      I agree and I think the devs do too - it's like one of them said, they weren't actively breaking the game to do this; all this stuff was legit - no glitches or exploits animation or otherwise, these two speedrunners were just pushing the mechanics of the game to its absolute limits to get these times.
      The devs of this game should be infinitely proud of what they created - this game is faithful to the originals down to the core, but they also managed to *vastly* improve upon the originals at the same time. I mean tbf THPS1 is one of those old school games that actually stood the test of time REALLY well (compared to some that didn't *cough* Goldeneye *cough*) but this remaster is just better in about everyway it could be to me.

      I feel like skating culture is alot more welcoming than nerd culture tends to be. If there was a game series where the fans around it would be most welcoming of all people, it would probably be the Tony Hawk series due to it's long run and the culture around it. Even non skaters got into the clothing and music and styles because of these games so not really suprised that the fans who were brought in to remake it would have so many women on the team.

      @@arthand7672 skate culture is the most accepting. My fiance is thai. I've been to Thailand quite a few times.
      Such a culture shock.... until you find the skaters. You can have a full conversation about skating with these people, who barely speak english. Its awesome.
      The main thing is back in the day, when thps 1 came out, I think they did have A few females on the Neversoft team. But games and skating were very male dominated than.
      Now that females are getting involved in the culture, its expands the market 2 times it's original audience.
      More support just means better things for the future, leading to more support, leading to even better things.
      Hopefully, they'll just start turning cities into skateparks. My hope for 2030.

    Watching this and the people who produced It, has made me fully realize why these games aren’t really that popular with the true core skate community. It’s in no way made by people who skateboard. They are literally just filling a role on a project. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve don’t nothing wrong, they did their parts correctly. But without having true skateboarders and people who love skateboarding and keep up with skateboarding will the game come across as genuine. You really see a difference between this and the numerous others out there.I’m in no way saying this game is bad, just not a skateboarding community driven skateboarding game. It’s an arcade with genuine skateboarders. (Which I’m all for, hoping they get that bag)
