He did fine, Dave's just stuck in his ways and it shows from the 14th album of the same crap as always he just churned out. Taylor was the wrong choice of Will, Taylor is personalityless, Will had some character.
@@youtubeman78937 I think it's all personal preference. I tend to agree with the people who believe that Will's character would not accept Dave diminishing his role. And with Will's recent tin foil derp state ramblings, I wonder if he would have been a good long term fit for the band.
@@thesweatleaf it's just Dave being a bland formula rocker and someone with too much personality, not conforming to his formula. The Foo Fighters are as bland and mainstream as it gets, so someone who sees through crap like that such as Goldsmith wouldn't work out, which is why he didn't. What were his recent 'derp state ramblings' BTW? He sounds based af, I like him more and more the more I hear about him.
@@youtubeman78937 I guess, if you like like Will's current derp state phase then good on you. I know the Foos dropped their conspiracy hoaxes around 2000, when they kicked Alive and Well to the curb (rightfully). I don't know that Will's personality is too domineering, since Taylor and Pat both have vibrant personalities. The problem is probably with Will being too sensitive, and again, if you like him more for that then good on you.
@@thesweatleaf yeah, you can't expect to keep getting corporate music industry backing if you're going to go around calling bs on the various hoaxes the ruling class perpetrates against society, I can see why they dropped that. Shame though, they're so dull and uninteresting now that they just go along to get along. @@roni6135 No, only Doll, See You (Acoustic), Up in Arms (Slow Version) and The Colour and the Shape are available from that session, as well as the slow parts of My Poor Brain. This isn't bad and Will's anger about how it went down is understandable. But in the end, what happened happened, and I just watched a recent podcast he did where it was clear even he has mostly come to terms with it, said he'd even be open to speaking to dave again, and has a lot of respect for him. Sounded to me like he had a much bigger issue with Gil Norton, the producer anyway. So yeah y'all can ignorantly talk all the crap you want, he's no Taylor or Dave of course but he's still a great drummer as evident in SDRE. It just wasn't going to work out.
This sounds fine. I think what Dave didn't like was the fact he isn't overly aggressive r a hard hitter. The guy can obviously play fine though just different from what he wanted
lol Will's drumming here is like 90-95% exactly the same on TCATS (like, no shit, he wrote all the drum parts to everything except Everlong). If it sounds rough, it's because it's a demo and the band was still writing the songs. This recording wasn't intended to be heard anyone other than record company execs to secure funding for the actual recording of the album and to shop around for engineers and producers to work on the album.
This is what Monkey Wrench would’ve sounded like on the first album
Will did better than I would have. Would like to hear a proper mix of this.

that "one last thing before i quit..." section where he doesn't go for air is awesome!
Anniversary of this album 💿 plus explicit and also clean version of monkey wrench and also demos from this album 💿 too.
There's an explicit version????
@@Mialamorena1 interesting 🧐
@@Songwritersbehindthecurtain i mean OTHER than the fact that he says SHIT in the song. Dave Grohl is a beautifully wonderfully natural born cussbox.

I wanna hear the Bear Creek version of this song.

always cool to hear demos of hits
Awesome! Thanks ☺️
First two albums are definitely my favourites 🙌
I wonder if some could ever remaster these demos?

Wow ! But where can we download the 9 tracks of this studio session???
He's speeding up pretty significantly in the chorus. I would be pissed as a songwriter too
@CHAD it's true though. The timing's all over the place.
William was like: *METRONOME, I WANT OUT*
@@Paul-dw2cl LOL
True, I noticed that, too!
Dave did the exact same thing on Lithium. Vig made him play to a click track.
The drums sound awful, glad Dave re-recorded them and got Taylor in the band (rip)
Nah they don't sound "awful", you're just talking shit. But yes, in the end Taylor was a good replacement.

Drums are not good compared to the Grohl version unfortunately
No wonder Dave re-recorded the drum tracks. This is such a middle of the road drumming. Nothing special at all.
