Got the 11-22 now since two days, and working with the kit lens all the time first thing i noticed was the better image quality the 11-22 has. It seems to have better colors and contrast.
I love the look of wide lenses both for photos and vlogging. Even at a 15mm focal length, I find the M50 kit lens (15-45mm) doesn’t give me a wide enough field of view for run and gun style vlogging or in tight spaces like a car. The extra wide view of the 11-22mm lens provides more visual context which is also ideal if you shoot landscapes. Both are great lenses, but the 11-22mm is my personal preference.
I want to get a 11-22 mm lens for that camera and I’m trying to find where to get it for less than that full price. Might do fb market but even there it’s about 250. Waiting on a good deal.
IMO the wider lens 11-22mm is definitely worth it if you're trying to vlog. It's important to capture your surrounding environment and especially indoors.
Good review, but as others have mentioned, a few sample pictures from both lenses would have been useful. I guess if your sole purpose is vlogging, then the 15-45mm is fine. But for me, I am into landscape photography and feel that the 11-22mm is a great lens for my needs.
The 11-22 is also good for vlogging, I do food reviews and I always struggle to capture myself and the good whilst sitting at the table , I ended getting a go pro for that purpose but looks like I’ll be getting the 11-22
I'm 2yrs late, but I just purchased a Canon M50 mark ii for my RUclips channel, and most videos make you think the kit lens isn't good enough, but I appreciate your tutorial, and I'm gonna hold off on $399 for another lens which isn't head and shoulders over the kit lens!🙏🏾✊🏾💚
Another great review and I have enjoyed so far your M5 verses M50 reviews. As you say it is what you are going to use it for. Selfies and Vloging I guess is not that handy using the uitrawide 11mm (17mm full frame) but if you are into landscape photography having the full frame equivalent of 17mm verses 24mm on the kit lens makes that worth while to me. Thank you and keep the great posts coming.
If you just want wide angle, you could use a cheap wide angle attachment on the kit lens. Probably won't look as good and will end up more bulky, but achieves the wide angle look desired for vlogging.
@@JosephKim Ultimaxx 0.43x Wide Angle Lens attachment was what I got in a kit that came with my camera, along with an adapter that allows it to be attached to the kit lens threading.
I love the quality of this video. But I'm wonderring which of those lens produce much sharp or detail image quality? is it the kit lens or the 11-22mm?
Great video my friend.I have a RUclips channel and use a Canon M50 and was considering switching to a 11-22m lens but I think I might just stick with the kit lens for now.A big Thank you.😀👍
The thing about the cost of the lense being half as much as the camera threw me off, your investment in glass shouldnt depend on how much it cost compared to the body. I have glass that far exceeds the cost of my camera bodies. The quality of glass matters more than the body.
You are absolutely right. And quality lenses are often around that price or even much more. But the other kit lens comes with the body, and still is quality. Where as I have to pay much more to get wider lens. This quite matters when you have about 2 lenses on your hands. But will not matter much if you have 5 lenses and invested in the ecosystem.
I own the 11 22 and definitely is superior to the kit lens plus on 4 k video it gives you the equivalent of a 16 to 35 in a full frame specially if you own the m6 ii
WHOLEHEARTED It’s definitely better than my 50 mm but of course it would be. I seldom walk and vlog. Sadly I have nothing else to compare it to. Do you use a handheld tripod or monopod?
watched this video around 10 times to decide.. thanks buddy let me keep what I have (11-22mm).. To be honest 15-44 is 350 USD which I can buy a new action camera
I’m not sure I would buy a lens so that I ‘looked more professional’. Surely its about how good the lens makes your images look, not you? I would agree that there is a perception out there from non camera people or camera snobs about how a camera should look, but neither of those groups I would guess, could produce an image as good as a trained photographer.
joseph, forget about your ego as no-one gives a jot what you look like. People only take notice of results. Wow them and us with your photography, I for one would be interested to see the results you have using this lens.
@@JosephKim you are counting in FF mm. It just feels like that regular kit lens is probably more practical choice. That 11-22 costs good chunk of money and probably isn't necessary for most of us.
A lens hood makes you look "Professional" 🤣 maybe you should look at the image quality rather than the size and weight, If you are going to make gear reviews maybe you should find out what you are talking about first
Can the EF-M 11-22 fit onto M200 Canon? I’m using it for my vlog.
Yeah. Although I have not tried M200, it has the same mount.

I'm glad to hear that!
Hi, what if both lens are free come as kit lens but can take only one of it , which one will you choose ? 11mm or 15mm ? TQ 🙏🏻
A good question! I would take 11mm. It is more fun to play with wide angles :)
@@JosephKim okay!!! then I will go for it 11mm!!! Haha tq for reply ! Appreciated!
is 15 mm of the "11-22" equal to the 15 mm from "15-45" lens? Similar? or big diference?
It should be very similar.
@@JosephKim thanx! so if I decide to buy 11-22, I dont need to change from one to another, but use one to have 11 - 15

I totally understand 11-22mm is giving you more context and better for tight spaces. It probably looks more stabilized too as it is wide-angle!

It is quite pricy from my findings too. 10-18mm efs lens is also a good alternative.
IMO the wider lens 11-22mm is definitely worth it if you're trying to vlog. It's important to capture your surrounding environment and especially indoors.

No

What are you using to make this video
15-45mm
i get your point about is it worth the cost, but if u plan to stay on the E-FM mount in the future its a good investemnt. :) Good review btw
Thank you!
awesome review man! besides the wider lens, yes you are right you don't really get a lot of bang for the price.
Haha, yep! :)
what UV filter do you use
It was a cheapest one I can find on Amazon :D
I completely agree! I’ve been feeling the kit lens for vlogging. Why spend the 350.

The more I use the 15-45mm and compare the images the more I realize how versatile functional sharp and a great lens it is.
