Dakota TDI Swap Update, What I Do For Fuel System Setup and Factory Gauge Wiring On My Swaps

  • Lots of questions on fuel system setups for TDI swaps as well as how to setup gauges so I just wanted to specifically go over that stuff as well as other progress on the swap. The Dakota is kind of a Frankenstein even before the TDI swap, a 2001 4 Door Dakota, Dodge 1 ton axles with 1500 springs and Jeep Gladiator control arms and a Jeep Cherokee steering box. Then a Dodge 1500 NP231 T-Case to a Jeep Cherokee AW4 Auto and Finally A 2002 VW TDI ALH engine. So many custom parts on top of that are really making this my most complicated swap yet, maybe ever!

    this channel is such a wealth of knowledge!! I know for sure when I go to swap a TDI in the future I'll be returning to do as much research as I can. Thanks for posting all these videos

    This is fantastic, looking at doing a similar swap into a Durango. Definitely worth watching many times over for the info. Thanks for sharing.

    I just saw Doomsday is working on a swap for Chargers. I have not been emailed back yet. But that adapter. Will open up the Mopar world to swaps. I have a project ready to go.
    Thank you for all the info.

      Ya unfortunately I already waited a year on TD conversions to decide not to make the 46re adapter, I had to just go with what works currently haha

    Do you do custom wiring for the cjaa 2.0 tdi's? I have a extra motor Im thinking about putting it in a jeep Cherokee.

      I can definitely wire it, I can't mess with the computer tuning and I don't have an engine to test it on, but I can check functions of all the sensors of you send it all with. I haven't done one yet to have exact pricing, but you can PM me on Facebook. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100014261163897&mibextid=ZbWKwL

    How does the electronic actuator work on your tdi? I never seen that setup before so I am curious how it works with ecu.

      Basically with the tuning setup right you splice into the n75 vacuum actuator and they both run together without even knowing it. Then you just don't hook up the vacuum line and let the electronic actuator do the work

    so this tee in the middle sits between fuel filter and fuel tank?

    • @TDISwaps
      @TDISwaps  Год назад

      You can put it between the fuel filter and the engine, it will just be constantly cycling quite a bit of fuel through the filter, potential plugging that up sooner. But anywhere in the system will work

    Do you use the dodge knock sensor?

    • @TDISwaps
      @TDISwaps  Год назад +1

      The VW engine doesn't need any input from the Dodge electronics, I'm simply using only the sensors required to make the dash gauges work

      Awesome, yes, so guessing@@TDISwaps , you use the VW ecu to add AC? Or use the factory AC of swap vehicle? Depending on the AC unit you are using. Your videos are great!

      @@ncharpas long as the AC compressor is simple like the alh and just 12v + to kick the clutch on then it ends up being just like this dodge so I can wire the Dodge compressor plug right to the VW compressor. And then the VW engines self adjust idle already so it doesn't bog down when you kick the AC on
