One guy playing a lap slide like it is a guitar, the other guy is playing a guitar like a lap slide. Just a killer version of this tune.
Jeff was so awesome!! As a guitar player, you have to admire his style. I tried to play like that, and I just couldn't do it. Rest in Peace Jeff!! We miss you!!
Saw him open for ZZ Top and he absolutely blew the roof off of the stadium. Great player & a great guy. R.I.P. Jeff; your music lives on!
me too! at the SF Cow Palace
Saw that tour in my home town Albuquerque NM. Jeff left everything on the stage that night and made ZZ Top work extra hard
What a talented and gifted musician, gone way to soon!! RIP Jeff, your legend lives on!!!
Jeff was incredible!
What a great Performance here, I'm so glad to saw him twice live in Hamburg, he's the best Blues Rocker ever, R. I. P.! 🤩🤗🙏👌☝🤘👊
❤️ brother John 🙏 Jeff 💓 thanks
Commovente...gran talento...riposa in pace grande stella immortale. 🤔❤️
Saw him once in a small venue in England.. breathtaking performance
I saw him around 2003 at the bar he owned here in Canada where he played free shows every Saturday afternoon. He had switched to playing jazz trumpet by then though.
@@darwinsaye see him in Windsor twice and London once!!!!
De Montfort Hall. October 1990, a night many minds were blown. Speechless after a long closing encore of Hendrix’s voodoo chile. To this day still the best single artist I had the privilege to see
@@snuffy166 lucky duck!!!!!
Love the blues,especially Jeff Healey🎶♥️🎼
I was lucky enough to see him 1989 at Rock City nottingham England blew myself and everyone else away.PA packed up after 10 mins he couldnt apologise enough, just started the whole set again. Guitar messiah and a nice bloke, cried when he passed away RIP
I was there as well, one of my favourite gigs ever. The man is missed.
Can’t even wrap my brain around attempting to play how Jeff plays. Just a legend
R.I.P. my bro. My heart is crying.
As a canadian, and a guitar player, I should have checked him out a LONG time ago!! that was insane!! huge respect for the guy
The way he plays guitar on the stand and picks it up regular style without missing a note Incredible, no wonder SRV had so much respect for this guy
I first saw Jeff live in 1986; I had only just started playing electric shortly before then, and I literally couldn't even look at my guitar for the next couple of weeks, that's how utterly and completely blown away I was! Mind you, I did eventually start practicing and playing again, only with new and higher goals. I figured if that's how good you needed to be, that's what I should aim for, and it paid off; I spent most of the next two decades as a working front man myself, and man, what a ride that was!
A few months after I first saw Jeff Healey live, I heard some idiot in a college pub say, "He's not really that good, people just feel sorry for him 'cause he's blind." I asked him if he played guitar, and he said no, so I said, "Then you have no idea what it takes to play at any level, least of all the one he's playing at. Go see him live, then try telling me it's 'just 'cause people feel sorry for him'."🤣 He did, and changed his tune completely!😁
I never knew him until I saw "Road House"
Brother, when you're playing...it's only your blues....RESPECT.
Hi Keith. I'm sorry but Jeff Healey passed away in March of 2008 after a 3 year battle with cancer. This and all official sites (jeffhealey.com etc,) are run by the Estate of Jeff Healey - myself and Jeff's wife Cristie. Thanks for joining us here! ~Rog
Timeless artists never leave us.
J'ai eu la chance d'assister à un concert au Transbordeur à Lyon en 1989 apres avoir decouvert Jeff Healey dans Megamix, l'emission du regretté alain Maneval.
I'am sure you've seen the light above Jeff. R.I.P.
Kudos! Hats off to anyone who can pull off a Beatles cover as brilliantly as this!
Great guitarist. I forgot what a great vocalist he was and a great voice he had
I just gave this a standing ovation here in my living room
Great comment lol
Loved Jeff. What a unique player- can't get over his technique!! What tone too. Definitely one of the greats.
Damn, he was so great.
Why am I just now discovering this?? This blows the roof off. Wow! BTW one of the better Beatles covers I've seen in a while.
I love Jeff, fantastic blues, he's amazing, thank you ❤️❤️🔥🔥
Found out about Jeff Healey and his band playing in the Double Deus Bar in Patrick Swayzes Roadhouse movie. I've been hooked ever since.
Likewise. His blistering cover of Dylan's When the Night Comes Falling From the Sky is a favourite of mine. Beats any of Dylan's own versions, although the ones he did with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers backing him were damn good.
blues from the heart.
Well, I'm real glad we have Jeff's Blues too..RIP 🎸❤✌
I was never able to see him but boy, can that man play the guitar! Thanks for the fantastic footage. R.I.P. Jeff.
Increíble, menudo espectáculo,, great fantastic , BRAVOOO!!!!
God bless you Jeff, an inspiration for humanity.
I watched him open for Little Feet in the late 80s what a great show. I became an instant fan
I saw Jeff Healey at a Blues fest in Portland, OR...fantastic musician, very warm person with the audience. R.I.P.
Jeff Healey was awesome. I saw him in ROADHOUSE (1989) with Patrick Swayze as Dalton the “cooler”. Came across this footage, and there’s Jeff not only playing his guitar on his lap, there he was, prancing all over the stage in complete confidence. Hard to believe he was blind. And there was Pat Rush playing his lap steel guitar like holding a guitar normally. When I found out that Jeff Healey had passed away in 2008, my response was “Aw, shit”. He still had a lot of music in him, and nowadays Heaven is rocking out and the angels are getting their boogie on.
He was one of the greatest, I miss him 'till today, never had the chance to see hin live.
Love that guy
it's a shame we can't keep all the great talented musicians around forever but I'll bet heaven is swinging every single night
What ewe talking bout, Willis?.u watching & listening now, ain't YA!. I AM. GR8FULL 4 This post.
The man a genius at level thank you brother u r the best 👌💯
God took him to soon! What a talent! he was! loved him ever since roadhouse!.
It wasn't God, it was cancer.
Damn! Absolutely incredible, hot, hard, and heavy, just what I needed today to help me escape from circling around in my head. Thanks for posting this treasure. Lol
Jeff Lennon 🎸 great.
MISS YOU, JEFF🎸HEALY!! YOUR MUSIC ROCKS ON!!
"Oh Canada" SOOOOOOOOO Much Talented Musicians who come from that Great Country
Amazing !!!
I was fortunate to do some shows with Jeff. One that was truly amazing was outdoors ...in Toronto...mid 90s...in the winter! It was FREEZING or below. The whole band had gloves cut out and layers of jackets and sweaters and we could barely move...Jeff came out and played just like this. Nobody elses fingers could operate at all. He was incredible...RIP
Wow can you say how he was as a bandleader, was he friendly ?
Phenomenal.
Best cover of this song ever. Only Jeff could do this justice. Thanks for posting.
Obviously, you never heard The Dirty Mac. (John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards on bass, Mitch Mitchell from Hendrix Experience on drums.) Played once at Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus in Dec. 1968.
@@robertcooney1938 While technically a cover it did have the original songwriter performing so you could say this is the best cover to not feature the original.
Wow! That was fantastic! What a great performer. Wish I could have seen him live.
Jeff was amazing, miss him a lot.
Like Davemis 140,
I too was lucky enough to see him and the band when he came to England.
Jeff created such an atmosphere it was sparking off the wall when he had finished with us.
So So sad he died so early in his life. I am not certain there has been anyone to rival him really.
Who ever put this up thank you, he would’ve been the same yr, same age as me only three days apart.
You are most welcome. This and all official sites (jeffhealeyofficial etc) are run by the Estate of Jeff Healey - myself and Jeff's wife Cristie. Thanks for joining us here! ~Rog
@@JeffHealeyOfficial Much appreciate it Rog
I was lucky enough to see him twice in dallas great shows both of them unbelievably great guitar player musician.
Saw him play at Sun Centre in Calgary the year after I moved here.....the minute he hit the stage and hit the first note I had tears streaming down my face....I miss him like crazy
Insanely Great!
HUGE jazz aficionado with a jazz music vinyl and shellac disc collection going back decades. Had a radio program titled "My Kind of Jazz" on CBC radio in Canada. RIP.🍁🇨🇦🍁
Jeff is amazing !
This Guy was a phenomenon and a really Nice person...
Particularly valuable. Thanks Jeff !
A great version of a great John Lennon song
It was also done by The James Gang featuring Joe Walsh before he joined The Eagles.
@@barrygreenstein8383 the Beatles version is still the best version in my opinion
@@neilfriedman i think the esher demo of the song is the best, then the dirty mac, then the white album, then this
R.i.p. My dear Jeff, love you 💓
To call this talent extreme, astonishing, you pick it, is an understatement in the actual face of it. I have never seen or heard a less "handicapped" human being in my life. That technique! And what he produced with it......As a guitar player i just bow out backwards. great musician and amazing squared.
Blues is Alive + Well MARCH 2024
- 👊💯🇦🇺🤠☯️😎🦘☺️🙏
Mein Bruder und ich lieben ihn... Absoluter Hammer🔨🔨🔨🔨
One of the best Bluesmen to ever ❤ RIP Jeff
Saw him right up front on this tour small club called Bogart's in Cincinnati, OH. Couple years sober and some drunk guy was hollering and Jeff says "Yea I remember when I first started drinking!" Hilarious. Jeff Healey kicked ass! Love his song "If You Can't Feel Anything Else"
Saw him at Sweden Rock Festival (SRF). 😎
He also played a AC/DC tune.🤘🏻
I saw him doing his soundcheck at the Yale hotel in Vancouver the first time he came, he was 19 I'd say it was around April of '87. There were about 6 people in there and I was the only one in there to see the sound check. Anyway and this is not a word of a lie but it was so overwhelming that I had to step outside to catch my breath. He was one of the greats!!!
Got to see him in Texas, SRV benefit, after the show was a M.+G., I put my arm around him and he was Soaking Wet.
It would have been a year earlier in 1986. That's when and where I first saw him. One night, I was leaning up against the state at the Yale with my Strat close by. He broke a string and asked for one of those other guitars. I called him over to use mine and then he was jumping up and down like in this video. Awesome.
epic slide, Pat! ✌🧡
This inspired me to form a lap steel, blues, jazz band who all sing in the accent of Terrence and Phillip - this world isn't ready for us!
Mr. Norman Jeffrey Healey ⚡🔥🎸🎤💪👊🤘😎
awesome ....... saw that man play at bb kings memphis tn
Beautiful share, fantastic playing, amazing song.
Thanks for your awesome video.
Hi Lisa. I'm sorry, but Jeff Healey passed away in March of 2008 after a 3 year battle with cancer. This and all official sites (jeffhealey.com etc.) are run by the Estate of Jeff Healey - myself and Jeff's wife Cristie. Thanks for reaching out and for joining us here. ~Rog
That was totally bonkers!
Wow, I’ve never seen this amazing performance before! I’d love to see more videos from this era. The world was a better place with Jeff in it.
Sensacional 👍👍👍👏👏👏
I gotti ReePlace mye 2B00m Bluetooth. It an it Knott loud enuff 4 this!. Love you. J.H.!.
BRILLIANT!!
I saw him live once in Kelowna B.C. at a bar called Flashbacks.. Must've been 1993 1994.. I will NEVER forget that show!!!!!
He was better than most seeing guitarists.
He taught himself to play at 3 when he was already blind. he was destined for greatness.
Excellent
This brings back such great memories.
КРАСАВЧИК ДЖЕФ!!! ПОТРЯСАЮЩЕ!!! ВЕЧНАЯ ПАМЯТЬ!!!
Sem palavras. Grande Músico
This is 🔥
Que cover tan extraordinario.... Sensacional
I forgot just how badass Jeff was. Stunning slide work as well on this live track, thanks for posting this video.
Only got to see him once at the bottom line NYC great show. R.I.P JEFF .
I'm a student of music theory, performance, ensemble, composition, percussion, music history, solo, chamber music, marching band, keyboards, orchestra, and music literature.......and I've learned sometimes you have break the mold. Rock on.
With his amazingly different technique and searing solos, Jeff was in a league of his own. No one played like him before or since that i know of. I think Hendrix definitely would have dug him if their lives had intersected.
I think anyone who feels great guitar playing has to make a place among the legends for this man. It's such an insanely raw wild ride that anyone who sees it will remember it.
ThanQ, Very Much0 GRanD3!.
A BLAST !
Another great loss in the world blues! Wonder if there is a great jam session in heaven and must be awesome?!?!
HE WAS GREAT_!!!!!!
Simply magnificent!
Hola.
Estupenda e increible banda. Erán muy, muy buenos.
Saludos.
Amazing what God can do 😍
The Lennon was good😉😉
Another Late Great Canadian Artist. Cheers to his Legacy and Memory.
The Jeff Healy and SRV video is another great one....
I'm pretty critical about Beatles covers and this was really good. I think it works because it's a fun song and they had fun with it.
WOW
The Best
written by Lennon on a lousy day .wanna die.... thanx, Jeff.
So the guitar is held and played like a dobro and the dobro like a guitar. And damn, when Jeff gets off from his place is gonna get lit!
