John Gault philosophy plays a major part in every day life so idk why you see it so differently. If you've ever questioned life you've delved on philosophy. Religion is philosophy if you think about it but unfortunately people take it too literally

John Gault you're kinda weird haha, it's a debatable topic, despite your thick skull. Idc about arguing but it must be sad to have such a limited mindset (side note) you kinda don't have any legitimate arguments yourself here so don't go acting superior when you're the one that can't even contemplate someone else's opinion.

I would actually say the opposite, the Meseeks are more alike to religious zealots(or just very devout people). They exist for a singular purpose (or at lease believe they do) for which they are created, much like a religious zealot who believes they where created for a purpose and have meaning. They find pain in existence due to the fact that it means their purpose is not complete, and upon completing their purpose are completely fine with ceasing to exist. Alike to a religious soldier(eg Crusader) who is completely willing to die if they believe it is their purpose(eg suicide bombers).

I feel like you missed an opportunity with Mr. Peanutbutter. His message to Diane when she was about to go off on her philanthropic journey sounded suspiciously close to Cosmic Nihilism. He said “ The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.” Mr Peanutbutter has ultimately gone further beyond caring about the meaninglessness of existence, and rather than grasp for some legacy like Bojack does, he just does whatever he feels like.

Over the past 2 years I've been struggling with some hardcore depression, I've been jobless, broke, then in debt, and I'm finally getting my life back together. After all this time I realize I've just been trying to make sense of it all, accept that intrinsic value isn't something I should look for so much as creating my own subjective value. Yesterday I got my first shift at a new job, a place my parents would never want me to work, but I enjoy it, and I'm doing what I want to do. Your videos started me on the path to where to look in my quest and I've since been doing a hefty amount of reading on these topics, thank you.

Now, what he warned against was what he called passive nihilism: someone who awknoledges the baselessness of all morals, values and beliefs, as well as the tragic nature of life (and its meaninglessness), but stops there, and more or less lives day by day, waiting to die, with no goals, passions, or dreams to speak of.

That is also the reason why he doesn't want to admit it, since he is 'forced' to have those feelings, even though he knows where they come from, which obviously pisses him off.

So even if you understand that ethics are arbitrairy, you cannot escape the chemical construction of the brain. Besides, there are judicial consequences of unethical actions, which will severely impair the possibility of any satifaction one might obtain

I’ve never come to a much bigger realization when watching this video. I’m a Cosmic Nihilist, and i have so many ideas for the future but i’m just a kid stuck in this body, until someone listen to what i have to say. i believe, i could help create happiness for those who have trouble, at the cost my knowing that this doesn’t matter because it’s forever, and the end at the same time.

4 minutes and 20 seconds in and I'm already questioning my life decisions
Also, yes I am high, but also extremely drunk.

"Except Mr Peanut Butter, he seems fine"
I mean he literally said there was no meaning in life. I think Mr PB is a personification of nihilism, for him life has no meaning, but because of that, he doesn't worry about life and does thing that amuse him.

You said that Mr.Peanutbutter seem fine but this quote from season one say the opposite : "The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead."

That is just absurdism for you :) If you read "The Myht Of Sisyphos" by Camus, he claims that this is the only way to be happy. There is no meaning in life and you should accept that and stop searching.

Yeah you are right, I did not meant to say the opposite but I meant that his character has more depth than what we expect or what Bojack see in him.

I tend to think along the absurdist line of thought that there is no inherent meaning and our irreconcilable desire for meaning makes life both tragic and ultimately worth living. If nothing has intrinsic worth and it's all based on one's perception, then you have the freedom to ascribe worth to whatever you so choose. Ultimately I do think this is still a coping mechanism, but I enjoy entertaining the illusion at times for sanity's sake.

When I was younger, I was an existential nihilist... the older I got, the more I realised things only stress me out if I care about it. The less I care, the less stressed I get, and no matter how much i do, or dont do, the end results are always the same.

Feels kinda bad that every philosophical idea I had by myself has also been had by someone else hundreds of years ago, and, apparently, been turned into cartoons.

That sentiment is also a philosophical idea that has been around for centuries. You’re welcome.
