I am one of Smoky Lake's customers that recommended they make a vacuum filter for us small maple guys. A 1 1/2hp shop vac should be more than enough to make the filter work as well as using DE. I made my own and it worked real good. At the end of the season is when I recommended Smoky Lake to think about offering a quality product and they listened and came thru with a top notch American made product. They are a class act company.
@@romerobinson8279 I can't remember. It's been 3 years since I made syrup. Hope to make some this season. I will have to look at my notes and get back to you
Is there a Canadian Distributor for the smoky lake products? I am in Ontario Canada. Alot of nice products south of the border but cost-prohibitive with duty and brokerage fees
Highly unlikely. First of all, filtered syrup is not at boiling temp. Second, very little air passes through system. Therefore, very little moist air goes through either.
I'll second this. Seems like everyone is filtering clean syrup. Meanwhile, my buddy can't get more than a gallon through before his set up plugs. I'd like to see one of these that actually works when pulling 5-10 gallons straight off the evaporator.
Very nice. The Maple Dude is an asset to the maple producing community. We strongly recommend!
Thanks guys! Appreciate hearing that!

Great glad you're happy with it. If you find value in my videos consider contacting me for more smoky lake stuff.
How much de do you use per gallon?

Seems like the vacuum would suck in a lot of steam and potentially ruin the motor?
Use a shop vac that is meant for liquids.

It does create moisture and yes it accumulates in the shop vac
Once syrup is full of sugar sand does not work that fast. Filter aid will help also
You filtered syrup that had already been filtered.
Not a fair review
