I'm up in the air about getting the 16" version just because of the available vacuum upgrade. The 12" is plenty big for my little operation, but there is no vacuum upgrade for that size. Are you happy with this unit as is without vacuum? I've been using the cone filter and then warming back up to bottle and it's just a pain in the ass. I like this product 👌
I’m happy with it, but sometimes I wouldn’t mind if it filtered a little faster. I don’t make enough syrup to justify the 16 inch version, I feel like a high percentage of what I make would be left in the bottom of a bigger pan.
This is great, thanks for the review! Do you think this would work straight out of the evaporator? Or is it best to filter off the evaporator, do a finish boil in a separate pot, and then filter again into the steam bottler?
I’ve moved to drawing it off of the evaporator directly a little over density then adding permeate water to correct the density. Much more efficient this way!
Looking at getting a smoky lake bottler as well, or the cdl. I did notice as you did that the bottom doesn’t angle into the spout where cdl does but cdl doesn’t have the water bottom. Kinda torn on which to get. Any suggestions?
I like the smoky lake, but it is hard to get all the syrup out. The CDL pan has a better design, but having a steamer to keep it hot while bottling is nice. Depends on your use and budget. I would have really liked a water jacket bottler, but that’s quite a bit more expensive.
@@treestandmanoutdoors awesome man...been on the fence, but think I'm gonna pull the trigger and get this... I feel a heavy sapping season coming this year. THANK YOU!
Thinking of pulling the plug and getting one for this season 2025!

What setting on the electric did you put it on to get it to 180F...? THANKS!
It’s a bit of a challenge fine tuning it, but somewhere around 7. Depends on how much syrup is in the pan.
@ cool man thank you! Worthy purchase overall tho eh?
@geoffoutdoors yea, much faster filtering than the old cone and way easier to bottle.
