Thanks Jesse. Always for everything. I had my fingers crossed that the pump would seal and the vacuum would work. And would ya lookie there, it did. Take care dear friends. Have a great week.
I love this! One thing you might want to consider instead of the screen is a honey filtering bag. I like them for doing my honey as I throw them in the wash machine, one less thing to clean by hand!

Thanks john. Believe it or not it works. Lol. It actually works really well. Pulls the syrup right through the filters into the finishing pan and out the tap into the bottles. Thanks for watching. Have a great day friend.
Thanks Paul. We are very pleased with how the plan came together. It will definitely make for much easier and faster filtering of the syrup. It used to take so long filtering the finished syrup. So here’s hoping it goes much faster now. Have a blessed week our friend. Take care.
I built one just like it this season and had to still change out the filter every 1.5 gallons or so. The system is still limited by the orlon filter fabric. It got me through this season (still way better than cones) but I’ll be getting a filter press before next season for sure!!
Thanks Ben. We have to change the filters as well. We pre-filter before we put it in the vacuum filter. I also added two pre- filters on top of the orlon. I can do about 3-4 gallons before changing the orlon. I do have to swap out the thinner pre-filters more often though. It is far better than cones and gravity. I agree 100%. Hi - What are the clamps called that you use to hold the pans together and where can you buy them please? Actually, a parts list with the sources would be awesome!
Bought all the supplies, drilled the pots, cut out the bottom, etc... Put it all together, poured the syrup in the top, turned on the vacuum and the filter got sucked down in the bottom of the pot. Can't get the toggle clamps to stay closed. I'm seeing you placed yours a little above the rim of the pot underneath. Did this happen to you? I don’t want to wait until next year to try it out.
I don’t know Charles. Not to much. Just enough to cover the cost of materials. Thanks for watching. It was pretty easy to build and boy does it ever work awesome. We filtered another 4 gallons of syrup yesterday and it took about a minute
I built a filter system very similar to this last year and I still got a lot of settlement after a few weeks of the bottles sitting. can anyone suggest what I may have done wrong? My only thought was since I make syrup from Box Elder trees instead of Maple, maybe this process just isn't good enough for Box Elder syrup. Any suggestions?
Not sure a out the nitre in your syrup. We still get some every now and then. We try to pre-filter a lot as well as adding DE to the syrup and stir it in. That seems to cause the nitre to filter out much better. Diatomaceous Earth,DE , causes the nitre to cling to it, enlarging the grains of sand and makes it easier for the filters to catch it. The DE doesn’t go through the filter either so it doesn’t make it into the finished filtered syrup. Hope this helps and thanks for watching
Why is everybody cutting the bottoms the way you’re doing it is perfect idea but why can’t you just drill holes at the bottom of it instead of cutting it and put your filter inside ?????
Great thoughts and question. I watched some make these and totally cut the bottom out. I thought it would be better to leave that inside rim. The heavy filter fits between the two pots to help seal it to build the vacuum. I place my screen filter as well as my pre-filters inside of the top pot and they lay on the rim I left inside. It seem to work very well. I did think about drilling the bottom but it would need a lot of holes. I felt that it would impede the syrup flow and clog. Besides, stainless is hard to drill and I didn’t want to have to spend all that time drilling. Lol. I do think drilling a lot of holes could work. I’m very pleased with my design. Seems to work very well. Thanks so much for watching and the great comments. Have an awesome weekend
Like he said, you need as much unimpeded surface area for the vacuum to pull the syrup through. The more metal in the way, the slower the filter rate. The fabric has more than enough tensile strength to resist the vacuum pull without tearing. It doesn’t need the metal backing for stability.
Will do thank you for your help. I will go up tomorrow and take pictures of it and send them to you. Thanks again.Fred

Your a genius Tony and you saved money to. You can't beat that. 💛💫✌
