Creekside Maples
Канада
Добавлен 27 окт 2019
It's never easy starting over, but that's what we are doing. When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade. We have started a new journey building our cabin on a piece of land we call home. We are offgrid homesteaders. We grow our own food, mill lumber and make maple syrup. The challenges are real. We hope you enjoy our content. As you watch the videos, please leave a kind comment and a thumbs up. Please keep it clean and respectful. We will be gardening, milling, building our home, animal pens, and harvesting our food, preserving, cooking, and hunting.

Woodland Mills HM 126 Addicted to Milling Ep.16
Even though it is cold outside with snow on the ground, the projects still need to get done. We have been building our deck and the roof over it. We need some 2x6 to finish it out.

One Setback After Another I Mold Under the Floor
Просмотров 505День назад
This is some footage from last summer when we discovered mold under the floor. It was a result of all the rain and ice we had that accumulated on the floor of the house as we built through the winter. We had to do something to fix the problem.

Finally 😮😮
Yup
Also a milling addict here... yes i know i have a problem. Hahah. Subscribed
It’s a good problem to have. Addicted to man glitter. (Sawdust) lol
Wish I could smell the sawdust as you're cutting. Dad & I used to frequent saw mills quite regularly because we built a lot of things on the farm & the smell of the lumber yard was unforgettable. Hey , handy tractor. Is it yours ??
I love the smell of fresh sawdust in the air. Lol. The tractor belonged to a friend of ours. I use it now. It comes in handy.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrr 🥶
It’s cold for sure. Even worse today.
At least the blade never got hot with all that snow on the wood. 😂
It does keep it cooler for sure. 👍 Thanks for watching Jesse. Appreciate it.
Boy it looks cold up there. 😮😊
It’s winter for sure and I’m already tired with it.
YOU Betcha it’s COLD!!!!
Yay Tony's on his sawmill. Stay safe my friends
Thanks Paul. It’s a good day for sure. 👍
….. AND Joanie..,,😅
Looking good!!!!
Appreciate it! Thanks John
Nice job Tony
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Kate ❤
Howdy y’all- woohoo! What a treat to see y’all milling again. You got quite a pile of logs there. I’ve been trying to get logs for almost four months. Gonna have to bite the bullitt and cut it myself. I’m not really equipped to do that. Glad to see you have a tractor for moving the logs. What a blessing. God’s blessings to y’all
Thanks for watching, Paul. I know how tough it is to get logs. Thankfully I have had a good supply with tree removals.
Nature's glitter. great ground crew you have there Tony. slow-mo and all. nice job Joanie. is that your tractor? Jim in central Florida
Thanks Mr. Jim. The tractor belonged to a friend of ours. I get to use it now. Thanks again for everything you do to help us. It’s because of folks like you that we can do what we do.
Great video guys enjoyed watching take care have a great week
Thanks Tom. Great to hear from you. Hoping all is well with you. Take care.
Saw mill is our list for someday.
We love ours and it has been the greatest piece of equipment for us. Has definitely paid for itself
Stay warm out there my friend! Great video!
Appreciate the comment, and thanks for watching! Hope all is going well with you
Nice job milling .good to have a nice day out to mill .see yo have a few logs to work with..
Thanks Leigh. It was a little warmer the day we filmed this. Great day from milling.
Yessa looks good. When you build the rest of the porch don't forget the camera.
Thanks Tim. We will film it. Hope all is well with you folks. I know you are about to get really busy with a new year of growing
it takes a tough 💪 person to be in this cold weather milling wood 🪵 great video Tony and Joannie
@@Mrwillie95 thanks Willie. Hope all is well with you
👍great video
@@paulfrizzell31 thanks Paul. appreciate it. Take care
You need a stand to sit your bottles on instead of holding them .
@@butchcroff9842 for sure. Great idea. Thanks
Thanks for this, great video! I made one, but the syrup tends to get sucked up into the vacuum hose if I get enough pressure to pull it through the filter. Any suggestions?
@@jtwfiddle I’ve not had that happen. Can you adjust the suction on the vacuum pump?
Oh my , that’s not good.
We got it all corrected and put down a new floor. It’s all good now.
Don't believe I would trust building a home with spray treated lumber, Something telling me you gonna have a lot of future problems with the exterior of the home you building.
@@patrickreedy1176 it is the 2nd one built. The first is still standing without any signs of rot. And it’s been 10 years on that one. I can appreciate your comment and thanks for watching. But I’ve been using this method for years on buildings and barns and everything in between and have never had any issues at all. The lumber has zero contact with the ground and sheltered from external rains or snow. Thanks but I’ll go with what I know. PS. All those beams are 8 inch hardwood. Pretty sure it will last.
White vinegar kills mold on porous surfaces. Bleach dosnt. You have a major mold problem and dont know it. Water dosnt need to touch the wood to cause mold. Just high humidity can cause it. You could have painted the subfloor with really cheap paint and skipped the bubble foil until after you finished the roof.
@@BS.-.- we removed all the mold and we used mold spore killer as well. Hind sight being what it is, I could have and probably should have painted the old floor and that would have helped. We did tarp it but still got some water under the tarp. Live and learn. It’s all good now. All fixed with a new floor down and Blue Seal roll on vapor barrier on the downside. Looks good and mold is gone. Thanks
So glad you caught it before it became an un-fixable problem! Mold is def no joke! Great video, Tony and Joanie!
@@NannyTam thanks Tammy. Have a great day
That's how you get hurt
@@mikezelinski4945 dangerous work.
Good to see you guys, but not with this issue. I'm glad you caught it before it caused much damage. Take care and I hope your 2025 gets better. -Shelly 💕
@@WhiskeynSunshineOffGrid thanks Shelly. This was some footage from last summer so we got it all fixed. Hope y’all are doing great.
never a dull moment on the homestead
@@Mrwillie95 thats the truth Willie.
Caught in the nick of time ! Like you didn't have anything else to do. Should have dried out quite well.
@@robertrhodes9123 thanks Robert. It worked out quite well. We did end up having to put a new floor down but we planned on doing that anyway
I'm sorry you are having problems. Believe me our house was built in 1796 so I can identify. 🙏🙏
Thanks, it's an ongoing battle. 1796 is old for sure. 👍
Thankful you caught the problem early.
We are to. Could have been much worse.
Howdy y’all- there’s always battles to be won. And you got this in time. God’s blessings to y’all
Thank you Paul. We got it all fixed and better than before. Take care.
Explains why you're dehumidifier was pulling so much out. Praise God it's not worse!!!
For sure James. We did have to put a new floor down but we planned to anyway. Thankful we got it fixed.
Glad you caught it in time guys. Hugs
Thanks Kate. We got it all fixed.
👍great video
Thanks Paul. Appreciate it.
@CreeksideMaplesHomestead 🙂
Great catch Toni, hope you've got it all fixed up. Take care ☕️🇨🇦☕️🇨🇦
Thanks so much. We did get it all cleared up.
Bummer😢Maybe Joanie is very sensitive to this and she will be better now.You were forced into a situation not of your choosing and you did the best you could
@@christiebetts-fi7qj thanks Christie. We filmed this last summer. We have it all fixed now. We did have to put a new floor down
Awesome job guys!! PRAISE GOD no mold!! Keep fighting the good fight, that's why we do it!
@@notfornothinghomestead thanks Ginger. We forge ahead. One day at a time and trust God to order our steps.
Sorry you guys are dealing with this. Glad you’re getting to remedy it now. I wonder if this had anything to do with that cough I think you guys said Joanie has had? Just my nurse brain working.🤷♀
Thanks Jen. We actually filmed this back last summer. She didn’t have the cough then. We did get rid of the mold and put down a new floor. Take care.
Oops, didn’t realize it was in the summer.
@ no problem at all. We are trying to upload some archived content.
@@CreeksideMaplesHomestead the winter is definitely the time to get caught up on the archived footage.
It’s always never ending… things never go as planned. I’m glad you caught it early!! At least it was putting of an aroma to alert you of the problem.
@@WeTookTheLongWayHome for sure. It could have been a 100 times worse. We did end up putting down a new floor but that was the plan all along. Take care. Hope all is well there with you guys
I'm sure your floors will be cold for awhile but well worth it
Thanks Mike. We filmed this last summer and since then we have got it all remedied and looking much better. We did end up putting a new floor down in the house.
You can't control the weather. You needed to do what you had to do. For the protection of your family. This is your Trial and Tribulation I guess. But God knows how strong your faith is.
Thanks friend. We are thankful we got it all solved. It could have been so much worse than it was.Have a great day
Sorry you had to go through that mold issue, But it could have been a lot worse. Great message at the end.
Thank for watching and the comment. It could have been way worse for sure. One foot in front of the other and make progress.
So glad you caught it early. Keep safe you guys
Thanks Paul. Bless you my friend
Always something to deal with.
