    Just got my try on pair of boots in the mail and the fit was spot on and were so comfortable I called and paid for them over the phone so that I could keep them while waiting for them to build the boots I ordered as we'll. These boots are the best quality boots I have ever had and I will continue to be a customer and also recommend them to my friends!

    I'm getting ready to have some built, curious what does your company do differently than Whites or Nicks to have a shorter break in? I've had several pairs of Whites and Nicks both killer to break in. I'm going to be giving your company the next build. I was just curious on the difference to have a easier break in. Thanks

    Finally after 8 long weeks of waiting, I got my boots. I put them on and they are super loose in the toe area. Definitely not the size I tried on in the store. I read their instructions and figured I’d give them a shot anyways since they claim that a thumb width is typical for toe room. After a day in the field I’m not satisfied with their sizing. Looking back, I should not have worn them outside and should’ve returned them. I’ve worn work boots (Redwing 877’s) for the past 20 years so I know how a pair of boots should feel on my feet. Craftsmanship is awesome and I can tell that these will last a long time. Make sure you are comfortable with the fit before you purchase and or wear them outside.

    I have 5 pairs of Wesco's and 2 pairs of Nicks. JK will be next. My advice: don't go with custom fit. Buy one of their regular sizes, unless you have something very unique about your feet. I spent $800 on a custom-fit pair of Wesco's and they are the worst fitting of all my boots. And you can't return them. Buy off the rack.

      I think thats a good advice. People feel very weird about buying shoes and i have many and what i have encountered is that it doesn't matter how good the boots are. Some different style it can make blisters. Nothing that micropore type or Medical type can't fix for 2 or 3 days while certain areas of your feet or skin adjust! I have several styles of the most comercial brand of boots and to me all of them are great. But my next pair is Definitely JK!
      Im excited, just haven't decided which color or combination to go to.

    Hey Tim, any way you guys could put together a boot cleaning tutorial? Especially for heavy soiled conditions such as mud, dirt, metal chips, etc. Total newb to jk (pnw) boots and don't want to overdo or under do the cleaning as far as water and soap. Also what type of bristles do you recommend soft, medium, or stiff? Want to get it right the first time.

    • @jkbootsusa
      @jkbootsusa  2 года назад +2

      Hey man, thanks for the suggestion. For now, I would just recommend using a stiff bristle brush with maybe a little bit of water to get the mud off. Use soap very sparingly if at all. If you feel like you really need something more to take the edge off, a saddle soap is a great option as it is made for leather.

      The break in is a lot better than even the last two pairs of thorogoods I’ve been through. I’m about 16 hours in to my pair I recieved two days ago, the first 6-8 hours was pretty bad. But I’m had them on all day today, and they are already way better than my thorogoods were even after a week of 12 hours shifts. And keep in mind, the boot I received was a 3e when I was expecting a 5e, so it’s not even the 100% correct size(Tim made every good with the slight mistake) and I didn’t think it was necessary to exchange them. I bet after another week they’ll be good to go

    Do you guys build heritage/ casual boots? I have many pairs of work boots from Nick's and Wesco. I'd most definitely want to get a pair of your boots , preferably casual 6" boots in a waxed flesh leather ,if you do build those. I really can't wear my work boots to a bar you know.

      How was the break in process? How do they feel so far?

    • @mad0uche
      @mad0uche 2 года назад +1

      @@Francis-zv2nw Break in process is terrible, from the leather insole to the uppers, even the false tongue. Now the insole is molded to the shape of my foot. Nothing digs in anywhere and you can lace tight. These are superior to every padded boot, and even though they are taller than all of my boots they are cooler temperature wise, probably because no padding, no materials inside. Once the arch support breaks in and collapses they are exactly to the lenght of your foot, there is no longer too much space in the toe box.

    • @Francis-zv2nw
      @Francis-zv2nw 2 года назад

      @@mad0uche thanks for the reply. Glad to hear that it's molding to your foot! I've had mine for 2 1/2 months now and currently in season. I've gone through the same break in experience as well, also considering this is my first logger boot. Love wearing them, but my plantar and heel hurts bad at times. Performed great on steep terrain because of the build and durability. Optimistic that it'll fall into place to be very comfortable.

    • @mad0uche
      @mad0uche 2 года назад +3

      @@Francis-zv2nw Yeah I received them March 4th, and it wasn't until June where I didn't mind putting them on everyday. Now that it is 80-90 degrees everyday I tried to go back to my 6 inch red wings, and it's really difficult to go back to a traditional insole padded boot. It feels just as hot in 6 inch red wings as the 12 inch foreman boots, but the synthetic insole just feels worse than the oak tanned leather insole. I recommend you spend a good $100+ on darn tough medium cushion socks. I like the ones with the bears on them. These socks have just as much technology as the boots and they will make the boots much more comfortable, if your boot is tight you might have to buy thinner socks but they will provide less cushion. I think your heel and plantar are in pain because the arch support in your boot didn't collapse yet, eventually there will be a hole for your heel, an incline for your arch, and then holes for your toes. Lace your boots consistently by kicking the heel to the back of the boot to make sure you are breaking it in consistently, the goal is for your heel to push the leather more and more flat until it goes into the arch creating a mold.
