If Asta is the social underdog for having 0 magic and being a peasant, then Magna is the real power underdog.
Yeah, Asta's whole deal of having no magic is undermined when he just has a different kind of OP power.

@@marcellXcatalyst He is an underdog in a societal sense. One thing that I like about asta is that antimagic is technicaly not his power. He is still magicless it just so happens that his big brother is harnessed the power of UNRELENTING RAGE
Magna did what Rock Lee never could sadly. Lee needed a win like this so it's a fantastic refresher.

Here's how Soul Chain Death Match work, it not only divide the magic at the start but constantly equalized it.
> Dante has 100, Magna has effectively 0
>SCDM equalizes the mana, Dante has 50, Magna has 50
>Dante uses a spell that costs 30. Dante has 20, Magna has 50
>SCDM equalizes the mana, Dante has 35, Magna has 35
>Magna uses a spell that costs 20. Dante has 35, Magna has 15
>SCDM equalizes the mana, Dante has 25, Magna has 25
And so on and so forth. It's a relay race to the bottom until everyone has zero mana left. That's Magna's solution: Don't try to reach their level like Luck, and don't try to negate it like Asta. Instead bring them down to his level to even the odds.
And it's bloody brilliant

I'm pretty sure there's an ability in an RPG similar to what Magna did.
If that's the case it doesn't matter if the opponent is smart and conserves their magic. Their magic well eventually run out regardless, it'll just take longer. That's a brilliant power.

I pulled a KOL, and went full on “YOOO!” when that end panel of my boy Magna came up. Beastly and manly as all hell. God, I hope Tabata does this for anyone lagging behind!
The thing about this fight is that magna is every one of us.. We've all been there at some point in our lives where we just weren't enough at the time to get the job done but found a way to get better, to get stronger.. That victory yell he did at the end is all of us celebrating overcoming some form of adversity after getting knocked down again and again and again but refusing to quit.. I said this before and I'll say it again, asta may be the soul of black clover but characters like magna is the heart..
If Magna fought Zenon or Vanica instead, he would be have gotten this victory. Zenon would immediately kill him and Vanica would probably yank out the chain.
From the little we seen of Vanica fighting she would problobye beat Magne since it does seem she fights in a similar way this spell is suppusto be used give your self some egupment spell and just knuck the other one out
Vanica can cancel spells. Even sealing faild so just cuting her magic in half would probably fail too.
Even if it worked, she is a battle maniac... She she fights like that normally.
Facts.
And Zenon is too calculating to not see the pitfalls of being trapped in this spell. Maybe not immediately, but he would’ve recognized the danger at some point. Only someone completely consumed by narcissism would fall like this. Otherwise, Magna would’ve had to come up with a secondary trick to force Dante to consume his mana faster than Magna.
Even if zenon gets hit he can just use mana domination and one shot magna and vanica has curse magic which makes other spell weak so over time soul Cain will just go way due to curse magic so zenon and vanica both can easily defeat Magna even if they get hit by soul cain
Got that victory scream he did at the end...I felt that so bad
When people who have never been in a physical fight in their life start mashing metaphorical buttons to try to not just instalose. If you don't know how to throw a punch it's not going to do much lol. I could see Dante throwing a punch, Magna tanking it because it did no damage and then smashing Dante in an exchange.
Dante was a trained high ranking soldier. Hand to hand would probably be part of his training don't you think
@@maniv100 yeah but he’s always enhanced his power with magic. Think of it like someone learning the perfect way to fight but being weak as shit anyways
@@maniv100 from all we have seen from all the kingdoms so far. hand to hand and physical training is not a part of any of their general regimens. the most likely to practice it was diamond, because there was far more characters from there that were physically built.
I could see it being similar to a boxer who finally takes his gloves off, just to discover that he's never actually conditioned his hands-- and so they break the moment he tries a strike to the face.
@@maniv100 Even if anyone with magic learned hand to hand combat it's way different when you no longer had access to Magic. Even if they did learn Hand to hand they Probably would focus more on hand to hand that mixed in Magic because that scenario would be more common than on pure physical combat. And even if Dante did have physical combat training as a soldier I'm pretty sure he'd have not used it for quite some time and would be rusty as he doesn't really use only physical combat it's always enhanced with gravity magic or he just overwhelms any damage taken with healing magic. Magna on the other hand would be completely freshly trained because any time he wasn't doing the spell work he had to be training on Physical combat because the spell would be useless if he completed the spell but still lost the no magic only Physical combat part of the fight. So even with Physical training I think Dante would be at a disadvantage in a Physical Combat only fight.
Of course the primal rage scream was the highlight of the chapter, but second place?
Right after Magna points out to Dante how he screwed up, you see him process what happened. When it finally sinks in that he can't use magic anymore, for a split second he thinks he sees a glaring flaw in Magna's strategy, a way he can still get out of this... He starts to say something like "you're out of magic too though!" but gets immediately cut off by Magna's fist crashing through his face.
He was so caught up in his extremely OP magic ability that it was the only way he could see the world. In his mind, "we're both out of magic" = "the fight's over, it's a draw" and the idea of physically duking it out just... didn't even cross his mind.
I can’t wait till black clover anime comes back just to see this

I have been waiting for this!!!! I also wanna add, I don’t see why we should consider the dark triad the final villains. I see their devils being THE TRUE Final bosses. Magna should really take this win.

Magna starts the Dempsey roll the second they both run out of mana.
Now Imt waiting for someone that is even weaker and we've never even seen win a single major fight, I guess like Mumen Rider, I don't remember him winning any major fights, showing up to if not defeat a Saitama level threat, or in Black Clover terms like Dante, or at least a top tier threat someone like the psychic top 2 girl had to fight.

you know, if magna's chain spell would be easier to use, it would have been a really effective tool for training. sparring with others on equal grounds where its your tactics that let you come ahead and all that. would be great training for those people that are born with insane magic and never had to try hard cuz of that
I think he'll be able to go about using faster going forward, it took 6 months to think of and fine tune. Zorra's counter trap is OP as hell too but probably took a lot of time to figure out, look at the papers. It was OP against Dante because he had so much mana but Magna got beat to hell too and didn't really use Dante's mana it in any special way.
Fr magna was lucky he did t fight Dante if he had the drive to work out like asta

this chapter was some peak bc. great art, great action, great character moments for magna. asta and luck there to see their comrade achieve a W against a foe that gave them trouble. magna jumped up to a top 10 bc character for me.10/10 bc chapter! wsj was fire this week!
Crazy how the soul chains best opponent was Dante. The arrogant "Noble" wielding power of the highest rank devil. Someone more logical would have likely won, but Dante was burning his magic. And Magna was relatively efficient with the knuckles and dealt enough damage to burn through all Dante's power
I've been thinking about this.. It should be possible for magna to upgrade this spell.. Take the mana equalizing properties of soul chain deathmatch and apply it to those knuckle dusters.. Every time he hits an opponent he saps a little bit of their mana and adds it to his until they level out..
I saw some ppl hating on this chapter because Magna won
But I just wanna say, IMO what happened in these chapters with Magna is objectively absolutely amazing storytelling and top tier use of the power system to make things interesting, a masterful showcase of how you can make weak characters "strong" without relying on plot armor or asspulls or power of friendship, how you can make characters who simply can't keep up raw power wise still relevant overall. As well as the culmination of Magna's recent character arc and struggles and what could be the start of a great turn around for Dante as well.
You can dislike the events subjectively but to claim outlandish bs like Dante only has been beaten and was never threatening, DT are underwhelming, no stakes, etc is wrong

He actually didn't lose 50% of his magic strength, it's more since Magna's magic make it in a way that they will be on equal magic, since Magna's mana is way low, he actually gain a lot and his enemy loss a lot more. So Magna's magic is very effective because he has low mana, his opponent has a very large mana, and lastly his opponent is blinded by arrogance.
It also make it so that their manas are constantly equal, any spent mana is also made equal to the other person.

Here's the super funny thing about all this even if Dante does recover Zora is standing right behind magna with asta and luck in the room ready to go so it's not like Dante's in a good situation even if he does get his magic back this is still really bad for Dante which makes me believe that another devil or another member of the dark triad might come to help.
The thing is, with Dante knocked out, the ritual is supposed to stop or at least slow down. We will probably have the next few chapters about Yuno vs Zenon, but the High rank devils should be stopped.

Since rill and Charlotte are fighting her at present if Tabata wants to give some shine to Noelle he would have to do it at the cost of making rill and Charlotte irrelevant which is not good since rill has barely done anything in the series..
You can think of Charlotte , rill ,Noelle and gaja teaming up but that's just overkill and dosent have as much emotions as it would have if we get gaja vs vanica or Noelle vs vanica..
Let's see how tabata goes about it..
@@mayankpant1596 To be fair it's difficult to scale Vanica in terms of power considering how little we see her fight and every time there is a fight there is some kind of spell to make her weaker. As for Rill maybe his momment in this battle will do more about getting to know more about Vanica since Rill was the must inrested in knowing why would the dark triad do this and there was that weird tiny panel with Vanica loking kinda somber afther Lolo asked her why she would do this before her respinse.

Take this for a smart application of the soul chain. Magna could attach it to an ally to gain a boost in strength and fight in tandem with said chained teammate.
I dont think thats really smart lol. Because you're taking half from your ally when they could be at all full power instead.

Don't forget that Magna had to use a lot of reinforcement magic to take Dante's hit. Also the chain could be constantly making their magic split.

Black Clover does do this frequently. Tabata gave Meroelleona the W of the century in the Elf arc. Continued to show her as the beast, Noelle and Vanessa came through big in the Elf arc as well. Gauche was at his best at the beginning of the Elf arc when they were fighting Patolli and Charmy, Gray, Henry, etc have all also shown amazing displays of magic, and Zora's big moment was in the magic tournament arc. Obviously magical powerhouses like Luck, Yuno and Noelle will continue to get shine but Tabata imo has always given a fair amount of shine and even beyond that depth to his side characters. Each and ever one of them seems to have their own purpose and each is going to accomplish something astounding at some point.
I’m truly truly Happy for my boy Magna he finally got his moment and what’s better then too do it then beat the strongest host of the strongest devils and next it’s my boy Zora turn I’m so excited for both Magna and Zora the way on Lucks and Asta face I LOVE IT, it’s priceless

Don't forget Morris from the diamond kingdom seemed to be using Lucifero's power that one time we saw him, he probably also made a contract with Lucifero.
He had that horizontal line with 5 vertical lines on his forehead iirc, I think Lucifero is gonna ditch Lame-te (Dante) and join up with Morris.
That's actually quite likely now that I think about it... It'd allow Dante to stay defeated, giving Magna his deserved win while also allowing the big bad Lucifero to stay in the field to wreak havoc.
@@GoinGreninja yea exactly my point, I think the reason Tabata gave Magna this W was just coz he deserved and earned it, so he probably won't take it away from him. But from a story telling stand point it doesn't make sense for Lucifero to be defeated this early, the fact that Dante lost contact with Lucifero at the end kinda confirms that Lucifero isn't done at all, and since it seems like he has a contract with Morris he'll just switch hosts.

Lucifero being done like that would be immensely anticlimactic and considering what kind of devil he is, he isn't gonna go down without it going in his favor in some way, so he found someone else to bond up with ( Either Morris/Xenon) after seeing how easily Dante got beat by a 'peasant' and left him there.

Magna is trying to catch up to Luck so it would be reasonable to consider that part of the one time spell is that it permanently increased his total mana reservoir in some way! Does he now keep the capacity of half of Dante's mana or was he able to store a portion of it through the spell to tap into later on as needed? Knowing Zora helped design the spell it must have a secondary bonus than just victory!
I gotta hand it to jack in this latest chapter. Such a wholesome dude. Bumped him quite a bit on my popularity list

Kirishima getting gigantomachia down was a big highlight for me. He didn’t beat him in a a fight but he was the one that got the sedative in

Yeah but it didn't matter in the end cause Machia still got back up and wasted everyone there.
