This song evokes so much sadness in me that I almost can't take it. If not for it's sheer beauty, I may not ever listen again. I love Perry for his positivity. Even though she did die he went on and did not become ate up with grief. Oh how do you do it Perry? Teach me so I can escape this prison of sorrow. Perry, ma would be proud of the artist you have become. She never would have known because you were such a wee lad when she left.
Not sure if you guys gives a shit but if you're bored like me atm you can stream all the new series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my gf for the last months =)
These guys came on the LA rock scene and just blew it up! And over all these years they are still so relevant to modern music , modern rock as you mentioned. You can really tell the love they have for making music , and for sure it is hard to tell the impact JA has had !
Perry is crying on the last frases. He´s cleaning the tears as he says " she was unnhappy just as you were". It creeps me out.The drummer is absolutely stunning too.
Hi Grace, don't be 'creeps out' by him. I look at the ending as if he is trying to relate whoever. Being lonely is not a good emotion. Perry is very theatrical and the song is very passionate friendly.
+Grace Kahn This song is for his ex-gf (Viola Blue) who died of a heroin overdose. Perry’s mom committed suicide when he was 4 years old. He’s telling his girlfriend that his mother was unhappy “just like you.’’ Sad stuff.
+tr763 it's about his mother's suicide and the suicide of a friend - Xiola Blue - the one in the threesome on the cover of Ritual - the one about whom Three Days was also written - maybe he's sweating but I doubt he;s ever gonna be sick of these songs...
I'd say I'm sorry but I'm fucking totally not! Was fortunate to be there from the beginning. Favorite show ever Jane's @Rocky Point in RI! If you don't get it you lose!!!!!!!!
One of his trademarks is the echoey effects he puts on his vocal mic. Musicians know it by the term "delay". The box contains all of his effects processors and the toys he uses to get that "trippy" sound on his voice. Most singers leave those effects to the sound guys to apply in a live performance or the engineer while mixing an album, but he was unique at the time for using these effects as an instrument to add a cool extra dimension to his vocals that he could control himself live. I remember seeing them at the first Lollapalooza on a few hits of acid and I swear I could see his voice shimmering and hovering over the crowd like a cloud.

no this crowd was into it! They werent lame. I did notice that there was an abundance of males in the mid 30's and up category, and hardly any females. I saw 1 I think. ???
I was there and there and the crowd was awesome. They screamed for another encore at the end like I’ve never heard before, but apparently the band couldn’t because they didn’t have any other songs rehearsed lol
This has always been my favorite Jane’s song since I got the tape cassette back in the 90s.

I hope you feel beter if just confront your sadness and accept it as a part of you that completes the whole of you. I was like you too.
Even a poor version of this live is better than todays music out of a studio.
Brilliant still in 2024
Every member of this band is a master at their art.
This is the most authentic and meaningful JA song. Great performance and thanks for posting!
There are no superlatives in art, dummy.
It’s really hard to tell the impact that these guys have had on modern music. Their influence is so far reaching its astonishing.

Eric in his jeans and t-shirt, bass slung low, is the coolest looking one to me.

Who knows?
Playing onstage is like mass producing items for sale somewhere to be bought. It's just another day in paradise.

+dennymarieq Damn, i love this song even more now after knowing that. :(

Is there a reason why there were no shots of Eric on this video? The bass is crucial to this song. Just sayin’......
So Eric was the bass player at this time, I noticed it too I wonder why there were no shots of him
This is such an intense song. So powerful and yet tragic.
See...rock-'n'-roll didn't die...it just became everything...much respect JA much love
Drummers never get the credit they deserve. They hammer away to provide a foundation for the rest of the band to stand on.
Every time I watch this video, I love it, it rocks so good! A total jam,
Fucking amazing. Perry sounds real good!
That was awesome. Thanks for posting!
Soooo great live!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for Watching & Subscribing!
It's a delay and modulation unit for his vocals.
Really? This band changed my world!

perfect

Dang. They have been working out. They all have 6 pack abs.
what is that box Perry keeps messing with?

Dave navvaro great guitar player
2:00 -2:35!?🎶💖👌
Where's the bass player

I bet the next song was “Been Caught Stealing”
Proof the Keith Richards diet does work...
This version isn't very good actually. Watch the 1997 version from Hammerstein Ballroom the vocals are so much better and more emotional.
Watch the Milan show from 1990. Magical
Holy Christ I love this song
1 octave lower
I don't like these words: the most, the only, the best etc..
Amazing song from a legendary band. What a LAME crowd
Totally agreed, why? Shockingly ignorant.
Sometimes people are not ready, well, almost always, so many live gigs with people standing still with their minds blown away
I was there and there and the crowd was awesome. They screamed for another encore at the end like I’ve never heard before, but apparently the band couldn’t because they didn’t have any other songs rehearsed lol
Maybe they wanted to listen intently. You ever think about that? Probably not - because *you* suck.
what do you expect from aussies?
NO. NO.NO.
Good God this is terrible.
