      They're back ordered by like 2-3 weeks from lenovo at the moment and best buy didn't have a single shipping model left available in the country. My local BB had an open box that was returned for display issues (infamous lenovo black screen of death).
      Bought and was able to get it for less than $1k -- Currently sending to lenovo for repairs under warranty and feeling like I stole it.

    Mine just arrived a couple of days ago and like you said it’s the first laptop I’ve had that I have zero complaints about outside of maybe the mid speakers, especially with the 1TB SSD and 32GB RAM upgrades. Games run incredibly well, even state of the art stuff. I’ve always been fine with a locked 60 @ 1080p so I think I’m going to get lots of use out of this guy for many years to come. Great review!

      @@cppctekTonight I started running into some issues with game performance dropping when connected to a monitor, despite the monitor being set as the only display. • @Trisiton
      @Trisiton 10 месяцев назад +4

      @@jackal27 Are you connecting the display to the second USB-C port on the left? Ie the one that is closer to you? I believe that port is connected to the iGPU instead of the Nvidia card, so you are losing out performance there. If you connect the monitor to the HDMI or the the USB-C port further from you, you should connect to the Nvidia GPU directly and your performance should return to normal.
      Oh also an easy way to check whether you´re connected to the iGPU or the dGPU is to open up Nvidia Control panel and check whether you have an extended list of display-related options on the left panel. If there are only 3-4 settings on the left, then you're connected to iGPU and you're limiting your performance.

    Idk if you’ll keep doing videos this way but this is the first time i saw a video of a random dude and immediately subbed. I've watched channels on and off for months and never subbed but damn man.
    What sets you apart from other reviewers is you feel like a dude that i can trust and known for a long time, like a friend telling me with excitement about the specs in a way a normal person would understand, that's rare and this is an absolute gem!
    PS : I am a technician and i don't even need that style of a video but i loved it nonetheless, if anyone reading this is new to PC or confusing numbers, at least for now this guy is the way to go!

      @cppctek  7 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you so much ! I feel the same and I’m a long time pc tech as well. I’ve been building rigs since the early 2000s but I still try to keep it short and simple so people in the mainstream can enjoy as well as experienced techs too. I appreciate the compliments so much. Means the world. What kind of content would you like to see next? I’ve got some cpu lapping tips and advice on oc video in the pipeline. As well as the new msi claw content coming. I’ve still got soooo many other things to review and test. It’s just finding the time to edit is the bigger challenge I face now since my editing skills are not as good as I’d like. I enjoy the creative process with making mods and coming up with cool takes on stuff you won’t see anywhere else.

      @rezorex-rezo-8203 7 месяцев назад

      @@cppctek I'd personally just watch anything tech related but I'd like you to touch on some aspects almost no reviewer actually touch on. For example, I was learning towards lenovo LOQ 16 but the reason I'm now sold for slim 5 is simply the OLED. It's 24 less frames on the display but it will certainly feel a lot better on the eyes and the overall experience, you feel me?
      Benchmarks and stats are cool and all but it's really hard to find tech that just feels good, some might have crushing benchmarks but might just be uncomfortable to even touch due to cooling etc.
      Would love to see more content with your current approach but touching a bit on what the actual everyday experience is, this is what a normal person would understand and even enthusiasts will appreciate.

Constant throttling from that i7. Last year, i tried out this 14" Legion. Great laptop. But I landed on the Legion Slim 7 (AMD7840HS/4060) And WOW, the difference. Performance is close, but better on the new machine, but the temps and battery life are MILESSSS better. My old Legion would barely get 2-3hrs just idling. I got this laptop about a week ago I have only two minor problems with it which is the battery life and also not being able to find laptop sleeves and accessories for it. Other than that it's basically the most well rounded laptop with a compact size, good weight/portability, really nice screen, and balanced specs.
    Battery issues is solved since I can use a C135 gan usb c charger that lenovo sells in china. I'm really impressed how I can still game on quiet and balanced mode while plugged in to usb c which means that I don't have to bring the 170w power brick around when I'm travelling. I'm still having issues optimizing the battery life or something since I think that most reviewers are getting at least 5-7 hours while I'm getting only about 3-4 hours on a full charge.
    32gb ram for me is a must for this laptop since I'm always using about 10-12gb on my laptop with chrome, discord and a few apps in my taskbar. Honestly 16gb of ram is really limiting and if you buy more ram windows will definitely find a way to make use of it. The ram is also really well priced and not upgradable so I wouldn't get the 16gb version. I don't think it's worth skimping and getting the 16gb version since 32gb allows you to open as many tabs as you want and have more than enough ram for games.

      @robi6713 I would suggest the 4060/7840hs with 16gb since it’s a better bang for the buck. You can always upgrade the nvme ssd very very easily later if you need more storage and can get a 2tb nvme now for as cheap as 75-100$ usd. If you get the 16gb ram model it’s more than enough for everything I do but I will say I wish the 32gb model wasn’t so much more money. I wouldn’t say you need the extra ram but it would be nice to have for tons of heavy multitasking or for games with very large open world maps. @robi6713 the cooling on all of them is extremely good and keeps the temps well within check. It’s way more portable and easier to toss in my bag and not worry about the extra weight either. It’s a pleasure to carry around. I tested out another Lenovo the other week with a 4090 if you haven’t seen it it’s worth watching but the price is way higher lol. Regarding the hub that you describe at 11:00 i don't get it, I thought that using a video signal via usb-c you are limited to 30hz ( i see this one supports 4k60hz, but still... ) for high refesh monitors via DP or HDMI, making it a very hard bottleneck for monitor refresh rate.

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  8 месяцев назад

      Nope wrong brother. Def not limited to 30 or 60 hz. Not sure where you experienced that at but that’s 100000000000000% FALSE. Look at the rog ally dock videos I’ve shown for example where I’ve tested DOZENS of usb c docks that all can support 120hz 1080 and many can do up to 144hz on some resolutions too. There is zero limitation here on this laptop either. Try it for yourself. Buy a good quality dock that supports the resolutions you want. Not all docks are created equal though

      Eh even in a cold room the 3070 ti is going to simply create more heat and uses more power. Also the Lenovo is super bright for being an oled. Many of the brightness ratings I take with a grain of salt because the naked eye sees things differently. It’s recalibrated as well and most definitely is wildly good

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  10 месяцев назад

      I’ve updated mine and can run 120 with no issues. What’s likely the problem is your needing to set the game to have an fps cap to match your monitor and also enable vsync. I only have the nvidia gpu model currently but I do know that issues sounds exactly like you need to go and change some things around. It’s either that or when in 120hz mode it could be also an issue with the game not making enough fps to satisfy the 120hz mode. Check and see first how many fps your making in the game and see if you can limit it or adjust settings to dial it to be on par with your refresh rate.

It’s really something I wish would be replaced with some sort of magic watercooling with a fan less design one day but for now we have fans. I don’t mind these at all. My msi gp66 laptop sounds like a jet engine and the Lenovo sounds like about like an Xbox or something it’s very low pitched and not that loud. Fan noise is worse on laptops with really tiny fans like the msi or some of the razer laptops too. Small fans are way higher pitched and just hit that sound wave that bugs you.
