Most of his songs have a positive message. That’s why as a teen I did not trust anyone who said he worships the Devil. There were always Church groups outside protesting against the evils of an Ozzy concert. . It’s a much safer place for a young boy than being alone with a priest. Saw STP in the mid-2000's, shortly after Scott came back to the band. It was a stripped down concert and they were getting local high school marching bands to open for them. The concert was in Chicago and drew a lot of suburban fans, but they got an inner city marching band to open for them. The marching band went into Crazy Train and the entire crowd erupted with cheers. They were not expecting such a positive reaction and they showed it on their faces, but they didn't miss a beat. Now every time I hear Crazy Train I can't help but remember the joy and excitement on those kids' faces.
A lot of metal fans back in the day where left dumbfounded when Ozzy left Black Sabbath. Then they heard his first solo albums and everything made sense.
Ozzy is incredible! Check out the words to all of his tunes. It’s soooo not what people think it is about. He’s probably one of the most misunderstood musicians in the world. Randy Rhoades was on a different planet as a guitarist! He was such a badass! I love Ozzy!
This all happened when I was in high school, and it's hard to describe the mixed feelings of being sad about him leaving Black Sabbath, but then suddenly there's this huge hit on the radio, and as a young musician, I just loved that guitar riff so much, and of course I love his voice on it, and I generally like the overall structure of it. And so then he toured with it and I went and saw him live that same year in a small arena, and it was really theatrical and amazing. But to this day I just still love that riff, and the the vocals and attitude and effects, it's just quintessential Ozzy.
I knew a few people in High School that used to play this note for note on the guitar, I was both shocked and jealous! I was too broke to see them live in Chicago, this was around 1979.
The rhythm guitar came from a friend showing Randy Roads how to play Steve Miller's Swingtown. Randy started playing with it and speeding it up. And there was Crazy Train

Amazing that this is one of the albums to also launch the "Satanic Panic"!! As Ozzy says on this song "YOU GOTTA LISTEN TO MY WORDS"!! The actual Crazy Train is the Church at least back then. I was lucky enough to go to this live tour. $14.00 I believe! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Bob Daisley is the bassist and lyricist for most songs on Ozzy first 2 albums.. Ozzy and Sharon Screwed Bob and Lee Kerslake (drummer) over.. They eventually won in court.
Had the honour to meet Lee Kerslake in 2019 at my mates birthday gig. Got to witness him play live even as he battled Prostate Cancer. He unfortunately passed away in 2020 but during his illness he wrote to Ozzy and recieved his platinum plaques for Diary of A Madman and Blizzard of Oz. But he had another band called Uriah Heep where you can hear his Drummer fingerprints.
Ozzy's solo stuff, especially the first 2 albums (Blizzard of Oz and Diary of a Madman) are loaded with amazing songs. You should check out as many as you can.
The songs on the first 2 Ozzy albums were written by Randy Rhoads, Bob Daisley, and Ozzy. People that work with Ozzy say he is good at lyric ideas and melody, so he obviously participated in songwriting. Lee Kerslake was brought onboard before recording the albums. Don Airey played and wrote some keyboard parts in the studio. That version of the band (except with Lindsay Bridgwater on the keyboards) did a European tour between the first 2 albums. After the second album was recorded, Daisley and Kerslake were fired. Ozzy was fortunate enough to surround himself with talented musicians. The touring band was Randy, Tommy Aldridge, Rudy Sarzo, and Lindsay Bridgwater. All very good musicians. The concerts were next-level because of the talent on the stage. Before he died, Randy told Ozzy and Sharon that he would be leaving the band to pursue a masters degree in classical music. He agreed to stay longer than he wanted to help them fulfill an album obligation of live Black Sabbath songs to Don Arden. Randy was not happy about playing that concert and recording the album, and it created a rift. Ozzy and Sharon unfortunately have a reputation, especially in the earlier Ozzy solo days, of using musicians, breaking promises, not paying them, and being ....... well ...... pirates. When Ozzy started his solo career, the financials were in shambles, and he still owed Don Arden money / albums / whatever. So, ya do what you gotta do. But when the money is coming in and the business side is stable, then take care of the people that took care of you. Unfortunately, the chaos, drama, antics, and selfish business decisions have, at times, overshadowed the fact that this is some of the best music to come out of the 80s. Ozzy is an icon, as are many of the musicians that played with him. We went to an Alice In Chains concert last year. Zakk Wylde joined them on stage for the song Would. Dude got a huge response and almost everybody stood up. Why? Because he played with Ozzy.

Love Ozzy! Seen him 22 times including 4 times with Black Sabbath. Got to meet and work with him once. You really wanna have an awesome “Diary of a Madman.” Randy Rhodes kills it on guitar!
A few months ago I found an old video of some school kids playing Crazy Train live and it was awesome; the best part was a couple years later they got to play it live for Ozzy and meet him afterwards. Also please check out the live concert in Russia from, I think 1996, of Metallica playing Enter Sandman. It is tied for the 5th largest rock concerts in history.

A beautiful song by Incredibly talented & very unique performers like you have NEVER seen before,, Steam Powered Giraffe 🦒 "Honeybee" (Official Music Video A MUST!!)
More Ozzy reactions please! “No More Tears”, “Bark at the Moon”, Centre of Eternity”…
Center of Eternity! Awesome song. 🎸
Ozzy bit the head off a bat (a winged bat, not a baseball bat) back in the day in concert!!! Crazeee stuff!!!
Awesome reaction guys! Randy only did 2 albums with Oz before his death, but they are staples in the metal community. Randy will always be one of the best ever!!! Many don't remember that before Quiet Riot made it, Randy was their guitar player before joining Ozzy. Try the song Over The Mountain, or Flying High Again. 🍻🤟👏
Watched this live back in the early 80’s at the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles. The line up was Ozzy, Randy Rhoads, Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge. Ozzy is a legend. RIP Randy🙏🏻
If Rudy and Tommy were their you saw Ozzy on Diary of a Madman.. I saw Ozzy and Randy on this Tour...
I literally cried when Randy Rhoads his guitar player was killed in a plane crash in 1982.

I have heard this song a million times but never listened to the words. Really cool.

Love Ozzy! Seen him 22 times including 4 times with Black Sabbath. Got to meet and work with him once. You really wanna have an awesome “Diary of a Madman.” Randy Rhodes kills it on guitar!
The lyrics to this song are really good.
The masterful Randy Rhoades!!
About time you guys listened to Ozzy! Mr. Crowley, Over the Mountain, Flying High Again, and Diary of a Madman are must listens!
I live in Florida, went by Leesburg a few months ago, where Randy passed in the plane accident. RIP beautiful boy.❤
Stankface and headboppin' required when listening to this song. Don't listen while driving. You WILL get a speeding ticket.
The Blue Man Group doing this song is super special too.
