Had a 88gt with 302 block opened to 347 zero balance . trickflow heads put down 400 on mustang dyno spinning to 7 grand it lived 5 years with me and sold it to the kid that still drives it years later .... 👍
For those with money. Jon Kasse p38 heads on a 427 Windsor stroker motor made 749 horsepower and 590 pound/feet of torque with(unbelievably) a hydraulic cam and dominator carb.....on pump gas. Nuts. I believe it revved to 7300 rpm. Naturally aspirated too. No blower belts to worry about. Nothing to purge. I think the heads cost 2500 to 3000 bucks a pair....which is cheap for nascar quality heads Use an aftermarket block and forged internals for 1500+ horse with turbos.....on a 351 block
@@oldmusher I looked and also didn't see them on the website. Maybe they are having issues with the foundry that pours the castings for Jon. Whatever it is, I bet you can still get them from JKRE. It may take a while before they arrive though. I'd call em but, I'm not the one with money so, I wouldn't want to waste their time as I'm a big fan of kasse.
Had a 302 in my fox it was ok sounded ok then put a 351 that bad boy sounds deep and loud the power comes on way earlier in the rpm range it pushes my foxbody coupe in and out of traffic like a breeze it keeps up with corvettes
Great video! I had an 89 fox gt. With Gt40 intake from Explorer & injectors, world products Windsor jr heads, arp head studs, aluminum roller rockers, B-cam, jba long tube headers, electric fan, 3:73 gears, south side traction bars upper and lowers, msd coil, cap & rotor A9L computer, manual, drag radials skinny fronts. Drove it 30 miles to Medford Oregon drag and would usually run 12.7s in the 1/4 Tons of fun! Sold the car in 2017 still runs around town!

This videos make it so much easier to build a high performance motor on a budget . I’ve recently started my 302 build & I swear if I didn’t subscribe here I would have known squat diddley 😂😂😂
I'm currently building both....331 and 357w. My 8.2 is a Ford Sportsman B50 block. Slapping on some old highport kpi heads that are heavily ported, efi super victor and uncertain which turbo to use. Goal is 8s in the quarter. Block has already seen 142mph on 10 psi with previous combination
Did the 390W over 20 years ago and used a 94 lightning block for the build. Over the years added a supercharger, changed the exhaust to something the flows a lot better also.
1/2 inch main and head bolts is a big upgrade. The stock 351 crankshaft is pretty beefy. I don’t see them breaking often. I’m doing a 357W h beams and 2618 DSS pistons. Trick flow R intake, B41 camshaft, Vortech V3 Si trim. Hoping for a reliable 550-600whp
I built a 351 Windsor using a…040 overbore with kb136 pistons and stock crank my kb136 had a .150 dome the intake I used was a stock 351 lower with the intake ports changed to a Holley efi used a civil war box from Holcomb motor sport camshaft was efi trickflow stage 1 stock 351 Windsor oil pan stud girdle also used head studs…z/304 heads kooks long tube header…tremec tko pro 5.0 shifter and 4:10 gears naturally aspirated
I've done 3 351 Windsor/Fox body conversions. "Can't get the RPM's out of a 351??" The hell you can't. Happy to run up to 7500 rpm's over and over, assuming the cam and heads fit that requirement. Over a "STOCK" 302, a similar level of "stockness" with a 351 will bolt right in, and instantly give 50+ more horsepower and torque with no change in drivability.
The older 351 blocks, i think 74 and older? They had a slightly shorter deck at 9.480. That extra .020 comes into play with stroker kits. Always recommend squaring and decking the block on a build. In my old 408, the piston was out the hole .010 or .015. That can spell trouble for compression and ptv. Since we decked the block, mls style gaskets could be used.
Who else refers to the Oil Pan mounting surface as the "china rail", I've only heard the front intake mounting called china rail. Also, the Mexican blocks having more nickel or more strength is a myth, stronger main caps perhaps.
Very helpful video always wondered about how the bracket would work to run all your accessories and line up I was gona do a 351 I was worried about my supercharger bracket would fit or not so I skipped that idea and built a internal balance 306 with all forged parts making around 15 lbs its fun enough I guess, Maybe it will live 😬
Cheap ol' 393 with China stuff and good Diamond pistons, hogged out and worked/welded TW170 heads, Super Vic EFI intake, Megasquirt, street car with AC, 236/244 576/592 114 Cam, with a....6R80 6 speed auto. Got bunch of stuff (205 11R heads, big exhaust, etc.) to figure out. Currently stuck on K-member and headers as next move.
I haven't been watching you as much as I should be but I always find your content knowledgeable I can learn things I have a question for you I got a 302 0.60 over I got speed Pro 10.8 dome pistons that's what a 64 CC head, but I have AFR 205 renegade heads the solid roller ones I have a comp cams solid roller single pattern 613 lift 264 duration at 0.50 ,110 centerline the rods and crank are stock I have the 1.6 ratio rocker arms did the ultra Comp Cam ones I got Victor Junior intake will the Street 750 HP , MSD distributor and ignition the 6 digital , mega fuels the part number is 4550 what's the 300 maybe c4 with a 4000 stall torque converter in a trans brake 9 inch 456 gears and all Calvert suspension with Nikki Bobby Gap brackets add a 200 shot of nitrous
If u got a mustang fox 351 Windsor is best way to go it’s like more torque and a big upgrade almost like a 460 swap with out losing room 351 really fills up the engine bay
Just a FYI Neo, the Bolts on a 302 to hold down the tray are longer than a 351w bolt. Why? Because that casting on the 351w is shorter and it can and will get into cam bearing. It’s 1/8” shorter. I ground bolt and out washer to make sure
There’s also a even more rare 302 block that has beefier mail caps, think it may be a Mexican block as well, but the caps and how there matted are way beefier, almost a wide as what you’d see in like a four bolt configuration, but with only two bolts. Can’t remember who showed them in their channel, but that’s the only time ever seen one.
I have a 302, 351W and a 460 to choose from for my Fox body. Always wanted to try a 351 Clevor. The cost is just about the same to build any of these choices. The 351 will bolt up to the existing C5 behind the current 3.8 V6. I have built and run all of these engines in previous projects. They are all good for a giggle in their own way. The only questionable issue is finding shorty or mid length headers for the Clevor combo. Any suggestions?
I have a 302 dart stroke to a 360 with 15 pounds of boost in one car, and a 351 stroke to a 410 naturally aspirated with an 850 brawler Holley carburetor, they're both really great setups, but the windsor will clearly put down more power then a stock 302..
I'm hopefully going to get to building my stroker this year for my '68 mustang. I already have forged I beam 351 rods, and forged flat top 302 pistons, what 3.85 crankshaft do you like for making up to 1000hp?
Yeah, I always look at the distributor hole and see how high the China rail is. 302 is pretty much almost flat and the big Windsor is what like little over an inch or so. But yeah, pretty easy way too ID them.
Are there still production upper and lower intake manifolds? The ones I see online are the Holley Hi ram. Do you have engine clearance issues with the cobra R hood?
I like auto crossing and I was thinking about building either 351 or a 302 with a Vortech on it or would it be better to go coyote with a Whipple on what do you think would be better price, wise and power wise?
The Mexican 302 being a stronger block is a myth. The block side of the mains is the same as other 302's, but it uses wider main caps just like the 289 Hi-Po's did, Early 289/302 blocks are probably the strongest as they have the most material in them
There is so much misinformation about the small block ford and people believe it i just watched a dyno video of a 302 that made 500 hp at 7300 rpm with a cast crank
Thecraig909 they spun his 302 over 7000 rpm on the dyno with a cast crank there is so much misinformation concerning ford small blocks out there its ridiculous and people believe it too

351 is better but not worth taking a good 302 out for. But if you need a new engine or a rebuilt it’s worth getting a 351 over a 302.

i wont no

Yes the front and rear mounting surface for the intake is the "china wall". I don't what in the hell he is smoking. Needs to share with us though. LoL

Going 408 here for a full size Bronco... IMO for trucks or heavy cars use 351w

got a question if anyone can help need to know what the injector placement on a 351w for tuning my cam specs. thank you
Henco 302 blocks just have 289 hi po caps but otherwise it’s the same block.unless you find a boss block stick with your roller
whats a 69 block worth? im sitting on one
$50.00 dollars!💯

get afr heads, big cam, a 351 block and do a 408 or 410 stroker, youll make 600 plus.
Neither, lsx is only way to go.
Why bother when a LS is $300
