I love how Ncuti knows he’s on American TV and instinctively explains the concept of the show
I wouldn't be surprised if a producer or their handler told them to do that. But they know DW isn't yet a mainstream show here; it's the point of the partnership!
@@IsiahBradley I'd disagree. DW hit the mainstream in the states when Matt Smith was The Doctor, it just sadly fell into more of a niche fandom in the states when Capaldi took over (I say this as someone whose favourite Doctor is Capaldi)
@@Mr_M_ I don't think we really disagree. DW got the *closest* to the American mainstream when the show, under Smith, moved to BBC America (was it accidental that that season's premiere was in Utah? :) And remember that CW-type narrative open over the credits? :) ). NBC's "The Today Show" did a whole segment on Smith's DW when it was in England (for the Olympics?). I think it's a show that the American people have *heard of* but not seen, unlike "Star Trek," which almost every American has seen in part during their lives. BBC/Disney+ want that kind of popularity for the TARDIS crew.
Seeing them given an interview on an American show is quite surreal, feels like a taste of the universal Russel empire this new era is bringing.
When I was a kid staying up way past my bedtime on late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, what's my TV on the local public television station in Maryland ,I never could have dreamed that one day Doctor Who would be a global mainstream phenomenon, let alone there would be a black Doctor, or that Doctor Who Would effectively be a Disney show!
As a U.S. Whovian, it delights me to see this on GMA!!! Stoked for the new season!
Love how doctor who seems to be everywhere at the moment
Not just the Brits. It started all the way back on the local Public Broadcast Systems station!
Yep! My New Jersey public television station (New Jersey Network, it was called then) was so hardcore in the '80s-- primetime Saturday night! -- we got "Whovies" (first Tom Baker, then Davison, then Pertwee, IIRC) and even homemade docs on the show that the little channel traveled the Pond to produce! And famously the BBC allowed the American PBS stations to air "The Five Doctors" first! So we got to see Davison *before* Baker regenerated into him!
@@IsiahBradley No you didn't -- that happened in a story made two years earlier.
@@TheBrainOfMorbius I'm not an expert but here's what AI says: "The 90-minute Doctor Who special The Five Doctors first aired in the United States on November 23, 1983, on PBS and other PBS member stations, including WTTW in Chicago. This was the 20th anniversary of the show, and US fans were able to watch it before UK fans, who saw it two days later on BBC1 as part of the charity telethon Children in Need." In New Jersey, we were still on Baker in 1983.
@@IsiahBradleyOK - I didn't realise you guys were so far behind. In fact The Five Doctors was the first DW story to be broadcast in New Jersey so you could say the same thing about all of the Doctors that appeared in it 🙂
@@TheBrainOfMorbiusYeah, it was our first everybody-but-Tom story. The only people I knew in "The Five Doctors" were Tom, Romona, Sarah Jane and K9.
Again, NJN was so thorough we even got to see the proto SJA--"K9 and Company."
Of all the days not to be at the gym where there is a TV set to GMA .. I would have lost my mind seeing that pop up. Being such a long time fan of the show, seeing it enter a new new era, and getting bigger each time, my excitement seeing it promoted on local broadcast TV is through the roof. Almost like it was 1996 again. I hope people tune in an enjoy it.
Are you referring to the movie? It's fun for fans to trash it now but *I loved it so.* And it got high ratings and positive reviews in the U.K. Fox gave it a good try. It also did the first live action X-Men movie ever, "Generation X." I lost it watching that TARDIS and that intro and the first-ever Danger Room!
Having been just about the only one in my small town who heard of Doctor Who when I was a kid, it is amazing to see the stars now appearing on GMA. Can't wait to see more of Ncuti and Millie in action soon!
I am American and have been watching Dr. Who since 2005 when Christopher Eccleston was the Doctor, and have been watching every episode since. Am so looking forward to watching Ncuti Gatwa and Millue Gilson as the new actors.
Greetings from the UK. Been a huge fan of Dr Who since 2005 when it was revived. Can’t believe Dr Who has received so much attention worldwide. Can’t wait to see the premiere of the new season on BBCIplayer here in the UK 🇬🇧
I cant wait to watch this
That story about the Oscars...I happened to see that and he was on a break from filming the second season of Doctor Who, so we might see a Doctor lite episode!
I love the large hair bun Millie has in this press tour so much. It really suits her.
After 30 some years on American TV(PBS). Doctor Who is being talked on U.S. prime time tv!!!
It was ignored until now.
But strangely it won't air on primetime. I don't get why Disney, who owns many cable channels, didn't decide to air Doctor Who both on platform and on cable.
My son and I both rate Tom Baker (1974 - 81) and David Tennant (2006 - 10 & 2023) as our favourites. Mary Tamm is my favourite companion, whilst my lad liked Billie Piper's portrayal. 🇬🇧
God I can’t wait to see it!
WE ARE SO BACK!!!!!
Nice to see he loves the fans 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love how George is acting like his audience knows the show! LOL!!!! I get that this is a Disney+ ad (it's even labeled such! LOL!), but I remember when "The Today Show" introduced mainstream Americans to DW when that rival morning show visited England. Matt Smith was The Doctor then and it might have been the same time DW moved to BBC America.
Meredith Vieira had a small part at the end of Series 6, interviewing Charles Dickens!
@@kevinhusch1297 WOW! Didn't know that! TY!
@@IsiahBradley It was The Wedding of River Song.
@@tardisuser756w14 Right. I looked it up. The DW Web people are as thorough as Trekkers, etc.
@@IsiahBradley did we just become friends?!?🤣
Millie looks good.

Such an awks interview 😂 But super excited for the new season! ✨
Only 3 weeks later..
Ratings disaster 😂
She's already left the show before it's even screened. What happens if she proves to be a big hit?
She hasn't left the show
Good Morning America!💙🤍❤🦅🗽💯
MISSY??? How dare she...
nobody cares.
Whys doctor who a man now? Its a woman isnt it?
Funny to see doctor nutty wearing something normal for once. #RIPDoctorWho
Like Colon baker, Sylvester McCoy and Matt Smith’s doctors all wore sane outfits
It's almost as if the Doctor is supposed to be eccentric and wear strange clothes...
Gatwa really needs to stop doing interviews… like seriously he does more damage every time he opens his damn mouth. Ncuti Gatwa and RTD have successfully alienated about at least 90% of the fanbase. The show is dead R.I.P. Doctor Who
The fuck are you talking about cunt
Lol, what are you even yapping about?? Keep running off your mouth I guess😂
Eh? What did he say wrong here?
All Ncuti has done is give interviews talking about himself, his opinions & hatred for all the OG fans. He is telling us we’re bigots and misogynists, and to stay away and touch grass . That's sure to boost ratings. His comment on identity politics and his race baiting comment on white mediocrity can you just Imagine if David Tennant said the same thing with the races reversed. it's all woke-propaganda he just a diversity hire and this is probably a wrap for Doctor Who. It's over before it's even started for Disney's Doctor. This is the First black male doctor and they put him in a dress. Gotta love woke racism.
@@TheUnknown313 lol what are you yapping about??? Keep running off your mouth I guess 🤣
He’s more open with his feelings aka he’s the weakest incarnation
He’s had a cameo and full episode, are you a time lord and have seen his entire run??
Apparently having emotions makes you weak.
@@mrdr0161Ironic because the very First Doctor literally tells the Cybermen that emotions aren't a weakness
Doctor gay
Ikr my favourite scene is when the 9th Doctor and Jack kiss 😊
Ikr my favourite scene is in the 1996 movie when the Master proclaims "I need the Doctor's body." while he's half naked 😊
BTS army assemble here 🎉
no
Even the Americans will dump this rubbish.
Go cry about it
So why is it rubbish?
I have been watching it from the early 1970s, from what I saw of the holiday special this looks good, even the part where Disney 'interfered' and threw in the engaged policeman bit.
Ncuti sold me on him being the Doctor when he started pouting like 2 did.
You have a right to not like it but what is trash about it.
Note, WOKE is not an answer if you cannot define WOKE for me.
