No matter what you Ariana fans say, Zoe absolutely deserved this win. It was a shitty film with a bad script, mediocre music, horrible director, and a disaster of a lead actress yet Zoe still managed to give an incredible performance. This is Ariana's first nomination and we have to accept the fact that she's just not as good as the veterans she was nominated with.
She seems like a lovely woman but Saldana should not be sweeping the season. Simply put, Rita is not that interesting of a character; she functions as an audience surrogate. There is no arc for the character.

I really dislike when they hire non singers for lead musical roles when they are SO MANY incredible people. Even if I didn’t line Ariana Grande, objectively she to me has the best performance! The comedic timing through the entire thing and of course the voice. Also, the heartfelt undertone and the bond the two leads create is beautiful to watch! What else do you want from a musical comedy?!? Once Zoe won the golden globe tho, I knew she would sweep…Still love her so much tho, this just isn’t the performance.
Ariana did this 🥺. Her singing was really good and her acting was satisfactory. Zoe was leaps and bounds above all the other performances. The choreography still gives me chills.
