I hate how they changed Emmett's character from a loving caring person to an loser who's career is over and who hurt bay whenever he want to
Illuminated Gurl this is old but idc I just watched on Netflix. I honestly did not like how they turned all the kids into losers. They did not have much going for them despite the resources they had to succeed.
They wanted to do that so they can invest in Bay and Travis relationship more.

I really thought I'd feel worse for Emmet seeing this scene. But instead I feel Justice for Bay. He broke her heart, and he deserves to miss her and feel like crap for what he did to her.

I'm pretty sure it was when she was trying to move on with the guy from the Galapagos Islands that he made her that timeline thing. And his response to her telling him she was going out with Noah? He plants a kiss on her and asks if she's really ready to move on. This definitely isn't the first time he's pulled something like this.

When he broke up with Bay in season four, he was dead to me. I shipped them so hard and hated her with anyone else until that episode. I was glad she ended up with Travis in the end.
As much as I love the fact that Emmett regrets letting Bay go, it makes no sense for him say they don't belong together, to all of sudden change your mind and think she's gonna drop EVERYTHING for him! But still, I can't help but to hope she drops everything for him!!! XD

People love to judge these kids but that's the thing they were just kids. They got in situations they didn't know how to handle. That's part of growing. It's part of life in general. They both made their share of mistakes. Emmett lost himself out in LA...we all saw it happening. It happens to a lot of people the first time they leave home or strike out on their own. At heart Emmett is a good person and he loves Bay. He's always loved her. Travis is a great guy. He might even be the better guy, but neither of those is enough to make him the right guy. Her heart leapt when he said he shouldn't have let her go. People can find their way back. Trust can be rebuilt. And there is clearly still love there.
Thank you, this is absolutely my opinion, too. I have never understood how people decide who to ship just based on "who treats the girl better". Treating her well is very important for sure, but you can't leave out chemistry and breathtaking moments. At least, not in a TV show. Yes, of course, Emmett has made mistakes (which he admits and apologizes for in this scene), but it was never because he didn't love Bay enough or because he was an asshole. It was because he was lost and apperarently still is. If in the end Bay decides to stay with Travis it will obviously be because he's a good guy and it's safe to be with him and well, that's good for her, but that is not epic because she has never been crazy about him. But if she finds it possible to forgive Emmett, stand by him while he deals with his mess and learn to trust him again - I think that's what love is. And I believe that Emmett will not take her for granted anymore.
To me it's not about being epic, breathtaking moments or chemistry. All of those are things you can have with more than one person. It's always easier to start over with someone new and a clean slate than to face the damage done between yourself and someone you've already been with, but that slate won't always be clean. Travis is a great guy but he isn't perfect no one is. Eventually he will say or do things that hurt Bay too because he's only human. Just like she will do the same with him and just like she has done with Emmett. The important thing is whether or not you can learn from those mistakes. The truth is that Emmett wasn't entirely wrong last season. Yes, he handled the thing with Tank very poorly but that was kind of the whole point of the storyline to blurr the lines so that no one was completely right or wrong. He was right when he said it was too much pressure for her to hang her entire identity after high school on him. He was right when he said neither of them would be happy leaning on each other for the wrong reasons. Emmett still has some growing up to do. He needs to find himself again just like Bay had to. But if after they have both grown up and figured out who they are, they choose each other out of want and not need, I will be happy with that because I love these characters (most of the time) and all I really want is for them to be the best versions and of themselves and be happy.

I used to think the same way but as I got older and started realizing how these relationships on tv affect society's perception of what a relationship should be my concern shifted more to what the story teaches people to believe about love. A lot of people think that epicness is about volatile passion but a couple doesn't have to be so unhealthy in order to be epic. So I enjoy epic pairings by my own standard of epic.

I find your analysis to be skewed, as if you were watching but not really paying attention. I mean no disrespect but none of what you wrote applies besides him cheating on Bay because he was mad (Symone). He didn't date Skye because she was opening up career doors for him. He dated her because she was there at a time when Bay couldn't be and he was in another world outside his norm and he needed someone. He was changing and growing lost as most teenagers do especially during college. He didn't break up with Bay to put his career first he broke up with her for multitude of reasons: the distance, he felt she had chosen Daphne over him and their life together, her interests changed, his interests changed, he felt disconnected from her, & Bay was going through things of her own and the Tank situation. Ultimately they grew apart because they needed to grow up. This is very typical of high school sweethearts that usually find their way back to each other and end up happily married. It's not perfect as no relationship is without its faults but I wouldn't call it unhealthy. Sorry this is long but I wanted to give another perspective. Enjoy your day.

What the writers did to Emmett's character is shameful. Bay and Travis do NOT have the chemistry. Travis does not have the look of love in his eyes the way Emmett does when he is acting. Just look at the way Emmett looks at Bay when Daphne is hugging Emmett. Sorrowful eyes. His acting with his eyes and facial expressions is bar none, compared to the other actors.

I just want to point out that they are young and in the stage (age) of error. This is the time of self discovery and realizations. Mistakes are made, but redemption can come when you realize your errors. Just hope you don't realize it too late. I wouldn't call their relationship unhealthy exactly. I have seen many unhealthy relationships and this in no way reflects that. No matter what they go through at the end of the day the other always tried to make sure the other is happy. There is hope for them yet. I am a superfan of Bay. That's been my girl since day 1 and I have analyzed all of her relationships as if she was a real person (fangirl?). Ty was a good guy but we didn't really know much about him because he was there then gone then there again and then gone again. He lied to Bay and disappeared, twice. When did he ever really show that he loved her? I think he loved the idea of having a Bay. Travis has his share of issues as well. He's hot headed. He had to overcome his share of issues during his duration on the show too, with the help of John. And he may be the better guy which is questionable (there's always someone better) doesn't mean he's going to be the right guy for Bay. Emmett is the only one on the show that has SHOWN his love for Bay in a multitude of ways multiple times. He loves her so much that when he does do wrong he is convicted to confess and try to fix it. Doesn't mean he's the right guy either. I guess what I'm saying is stop with all the shipping & just enjoy the final season. Hell, Bay may just choose herself at the end of the day because she's so awesome all on her own. That is all.

Has anyone else noticed how kinda lazy they're getting with signing? There are so many scenes where someone is signing and their hands aren't in the shot. Emmetts been mouthing more than signing and everyone's just mumbling their signs. I don't know if this is on purpose, but I've noticed it over the last twoish seasons

Ehhhh Don't really care about them together anymore. It's not really healthy to continue down a dark path, yes the two love each other, however the relationship has proven to not be working like two times already. They need to move on, and the only reason Emmet is being apologetic is because his life is sucking and he wants someone to cling to. It's practically a guilt trip of sorts. Part of life is being with new people, and I would love to see Bay with Travis forever instead of with Emmet and have some more drama crop up between them.

Emmett and Bay were cute for the first part but i sooo waiting for Emmitt and Diffindy to get together!. you know i loved emmett and bay in the past and ive always loved emmett because he was a complex character but after season 4 he has changed so much that i dont like him anymore. i hope bay ends alone honestly because she doesnt need a man. dont get me wrong i like travis but bay doesnt need a man she can be her own person. i hate how the writers desyroyed emmetts character he was so sweet in season 1.

I have watched this show to know 3 things.
1. Switched At Birth handled character arcs wrong and they juggled too many stories which led to the show being cancelled.
2. The show focused on the wrong stories albeit a lot of them. When dealing with a show about teenagers you need to keep the audience at the edge of their seats by giving a phenomenal story/s.
3. Someone should renew the series. Don't reboot but create a kind of 'Just like that' like what Sex and the coty guys did. Bring back the older cast and improve on your previous mistakes

I'm a huge Bemmet fan but...they just can't be together anymore.
The problem between them is as basic as trust. Ever since season one when he cheated on her. He didn't trust her, she didn't trust him. That was the issue when Skye came into the picture. Then when the Tank thing happened...they don't trust one another.
The problem for Emmett is that he doesn't understand what it means to be alone. He moved to LA alone, he didn't have the usual support group he had after Bay, Daphne and Travis went to China. His only support was from his mom and Skye. Some people can function perfectly fine on their own, some just need one person. But it's obvious Emmett needs more than just that. As a kid he had both his parents and Daphne, he also had all his friends at Carlton.
Right now Emmett is clinging, when he started out with Bay it was easy, something he see's as a fall back right now. Bay cannot allow that to happen again. Otherwise, it will tear both of them apart.
So random question but why can't Travis move in with Bay and Daphne? Didn't all three of them live together in China? Is there only one bedroom in that apartment? It would only be until Daphne can move into a room at the college.
Side Rant: Bay really hasn't been thinking when it means to be a tattoo artist in America. (SPOILER) Happy that her boss explained the issue to her that fast. It's a serious thing to tattoo someone when you don't have a license, especially in a shop. Another thing is skipped the whole apprenticeship arc of being a tattoo artist. This is important because this is where you learn everything. While it looks like Bay knows what she's doing she might not know everything. She might not be putting the ink deep enough, or she might be putting the needle in too deep. I hope that over this season Bay learns some more things when it comes to tattooing, to show that while this is what she wants she still has to work at it. Okay rant over.
