I actually loved this ending! I was a die-hard bemmett fan but I loved them showing that your first love can be really important and meaningful and still not last for ever.
The writers really ruined Emmett's character in seasons 4 and 5 just to create unnecessary drama. When he cheated on Bay with Simone you could truly tell he was sorry and they ended up coming back together later, naturally. But whenever he moved away they really screwed up his character and made him hurt Bay again which just didn't seem right for his character. And then sticking her with Travis randomly? They had absolutely no chemistry for the entire series. I think they just wanted to stick Bay with someone and he was the most feasible option after ruining Emmett's character and their relationship.
I honestly don't see that. Bay took the blame for daphne out of nowhere and emmett didn't find out until after she was put under house arrest. They did get into an argument, but all couples do at some point down the line so this wasn't exactly stupid. What WAS stupid was bay drinking so much and ending up in bed with tank. Yes both were drunk, but from the look of things tank was sober enough to take advantage of bay while she was completely wasted. Though there's no solid evidence that bay said yes or no, by law it was considered rape and emmett tried to convince bay that tank should've been in jail for this, but she wouldn't stop defending him (had it been any other guy, she would've agreed to putting them in jail). Honestly, this was the point of the road where the two different paths lead to a bad scenario. 1. bay said no meaning it was rape and tank ends up in prison for that OR 2. bay said yes which makes it consensual meaning that bay cheated on Emmett Also the main reason why emmett and bay broke was because the long distance was becoming too much of a struggle and both were still young and evolving which implies that if the show kept going, the relationship between Travis and bay would not last very long as emmett only traveled to the other side of the United States while Travis was moving to the other side of the world.
Lauren Davis I still, to this day, think there must’ve been something going on behind the scenes. Some kind of drama with Sean. Because they didn’t just destroy his character, in the final season they made him non existent! This guy who has worked his ass off on the show since the Very First Episode, was completely placed on the back burner. And they ended the show without daphne and emmett even being friends. They didn’t have any scenes together. Idk. It just still feels really personal to me. Like it was all done intentionally

I really respect the way their relationship was concluded on the show. To me, this scene was a message to the audience that two people don't have to be together. That they can acknowledge their relationship, how they both learned and grew from their experiences together, how they can still care about a person... But not be in love with them, or be in a relationship with them. It's bittersweet, and they had a great time together, but they both know it's behind them and they've moved on. They may still love each other, but they know they're not right for each other, at least at this point in their lives. And that's okay. I think it's powerful that they are above to acknowledge their past and their present needs (not wants), and still have a mutually good relationship. The flashback seen wasn't viewed entirely positively either. There was heartbreak there, and I think that's important to acknowledge as well as all the good times.
This is exactly how I feel too. Many of us have that first soulmate that helped us grow but in some cases we don’t end up with them. I really liked that they kept Travis and her together bc it showed how bay evolved and how mature she became.

I'm definitely disappointed. I would have preferred she ended up on her own in a more open ended way honestly. They wasted too much of this season on drama for her to end up in a relationship with either of the guys in a way that would actually be satisfying in my opinion. I agree that it wouldn't have felt right to just quickly squish her and Emmett back together but at the same time she and Travis don't feel right--or even real at times--to me. Quite possibly one of my least favorite pairings. I like them both individually but not too thrilled about them as a couple.
Yeah, if they had left it more open ended it would've been more interesting. The whole final season was just too rushed. At least they didn't do a time jump of 10 or 20 years to show Bay happily married to one of them. We still don't know who she will end up with forever.

the show creator said she had no intentions of bemmett being end game which is beyond ridiculous. she said they felt bemmett was to show that 1st love but not the love that lasts a lifetime. i feel like that was a poor choice and a waste for both characters over the course of these 5 seasons.

When bay was raped, emmett was willing to put tank in jail or better yet fight him face to face. Emmett himself saw it as rape, but bay wouldn't stop defending tank and said it "wasn't that simple". Also that night she got drunk would never have happened if she hadn't taken the blame for daphne all of a sudden (Emmett didn't find out about any of that until AFTER bay was put under arrest, so is it really his fault for all of this? I seriously doubt it).

maybe it will sound silly, maybe i am the only one who feels that way, but anyway... i don't think that bravis was endgame. i don't really think the ending was about them at all. yes, they stayed together, but i've seen like a hundred tv series and i'm pretty sure that travis was just a complication in the bemmett story, not that there was a seperate story of bravis. and them staying together was a part - the last part - of bemmett story. despite everything that happened, bemmett was still the most important couple of SAB and i think that this scene with all the flashbacks proves it. it is the end of the show, it is the end of bemmett, they didn't end up together, but it was still all about them. it never stopped being that way.
I love the way you worded this. So true in my opinion. The ending was beautiful and beautiful isn't always happily ever after. It is sometimes overcoming heartbreak and growing up, realizing that letting someone go doesn't mean you don't love them, or never loved them. Quite the opposite actually. Bay and Emmett got there ending. SAB is an incredible show.
I was glad they didn't end up together. It was better this way. First loves don't always end up together. But this way when they said, "He was my first love" and Emmett says, "He was" is them mutually agreeing that what they had is over. They're done. When he says, "See you around" and rides off, it's a way for them to be totally DONE. No more "Maybe one day." It's over and they're both okay with it.
It's been over a year since I last watched switched at birth but halfway into the video I was sobbing. I can't believe this. They were so perfect together. Oh god the feels I can't frikkin handle it this hurts...
First of all the season was too short. There's only so much you can do with 10 episodes and they wasted there time on relationships we cared nothing about. Do we really care who Bay's mom sleep's with? That time could have been spent in a dramatic love triangle between Bay, Emmett, & Travis. The producers dropped the ball with this last season. It was rushed and badly thought out. Travis and Bay have no chemistry or passion like her and Emmet did. That's what made almost every viewer root for that relationship. Watching her and Travis together was like watching someone trying to forcefully fit the wrong puzzle piece in a puzzle..it just doesn't fit.
This couple belonged together. I used to love them so freaking much. And I guess I still do for crying at this scene again. I wish they hadnt done what they did with Emmetts character in season 4. I thought Bemmett was forever
In my opinion they made up for Emmet's behaviour in season 4 with the first few episodes in season 5 and his depression Storyline. He had a hard time and he tried to find his way back to himself. I really started to like him again and I forgave him. I think they made kinda a great safe of his character. I just wished they would have made more out of it (and of course I love Bemmet, but I also never saw a real connection between Bay and Travis, not like I saw it with him and Mary Beth)
I’m just hoping they have a reunion show set in the future and it turns out bay and Emmett end up together. I couldn’t believe that a shows ending would leave me so upset about a couple not being together. I know there are more important things in this world but this ending gave me bad dreams for 2 weeks.
YES!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! I AM SO GLAD TO HEAR OTHER PEOPLE ECHOING MY SENTIMENT!!!!!! Even though it's just a fictional TV show we grew to really love these characters and we were invested in their story and there were so many things that with all the ups and downs with them throughout the series that made us think that they're truly meant to be and I really wanted them to ultimately end up together and when I go back and watch their old scenes and the good times it makes me sad knowing that they ultimately don't end up together the two big changes that I would want to make to the overall story of Switched at Birth that are significant that affect the fabric of the overall story are number one having bayonet ultimately end up together no matter how many ups and downs and ones and off they have in between by the series finale I would have wanted to wanted to see them back together with the implication that this time it's going to be permanent come back into the scene and make amends with all the characters and all them finally becoming a big happy family I feel very cheated by these two decisions of the writers made and I really wish that they had done these two plot points differently

this ending scene just broke my heart...after all theyve been through, they just left off with a 'see you around' AFTER ALL OF THAT JUST A 'SEE YOU AROUND?!!?!'. Bay and Travis might not have the same passion as Bay and Emmett, but they started out as friends already had respect for eachother and they are more stable, and those are the kind of relationship that will probably last the longest, maybe not that exicting, but they are understanding and suportive of eachother, Bay and Emmett were eachothers first love but you dosn't always end up with your first love, but they have respect for eachother and has learned and grown from their relationship.

I binged watched this show just recently and loved them as a couple. However, I'm not that mad at how it ended because many things were left open enough. Sure she and Travis agreed to stay together but that wasn't a guaranteed endgame in my opinion either. I think they just left it open. I don't know.

Just found 'switched at birth' recently - I am on season 2! Very sad to know Bay and Emmett do NOT come together! I am ready to watch the whole drama! I see it this way: Both Bay and Emmett fully - honest - deep respect each other! This goes so far - that they know if they were together it would cause small problems. Each one would have to make compromises along the live to be together. As the only (logical) solution is: keep the deep friendship and respect to each other - be supportive - true unconditional love - each burden the pain himself/herself and end up NOT as a couple - but remain true friends! (what a sad story!!)

When I first saw Bay and Emmett together I was like "they are so end game" but then a few seasons later their trust in each other has diminished greatly, Emmett has turned into a Mega jerk and they cheated on each other a lot. This made me think 'first loves aren't supposed to last forever'. Them breaking up for good was the best decision for both of them because they were never nor ever going to be forever. It was nice to see in this video that they appreciated the time they had together but moved on and became mutual acquaintances from a past love.

maybe it will sound silly, maybe i am the only one who feels that way, but anyway... i don't think that bravis was endgame. i don't really think the ending was about them at all. yes, they stayed together, but i've seen like a hundred tv series and i'm pretty sure that travis was just a complication in the bemmett story, not that there was a seperate story of bravis. and them staying together was a part - the last part - of bemmett story. despite everything that happened, bemmett was still the most important couple of SAB and i think that this scene with all the flashbacks proves it. it is the end of the show, it is the end of bemmett, they didn't end up together, but it was still all about them. it never stopped being that way.

It is sometimes overcoming heartbreak and growing up, realizing that letting someone go doesn't mean you don't love them, or never loved them. Quite the opposite actually. Bay and Emmett got there ending. SAB is an incredible show.
I was glad they didn't end up together. It was better this way. First loves don't always end up together. But this way when they said, "He was my first love" and Emmett says, "He was" is them mutually agreeing that what they had is over. They're done. When he says, "See you around" and rides off, it's a way for them to be totally DONE. No more "Maybe one day." It's over and they're both okay with it.
It's been over a year since I last watched switched at birth but halfway into the video I was sobbing. I can't believe this. They were so perfect together. Oh god the feels I can't frikkin handle it this hurts...
First of all the season was too short. There's only so much you can do with 10 episodes and they wasted there time on relationships we cared nothing about. Do we really care who Bay's mom sleep's with? That time could have been spent in a dramatic love triangle between Bay, Emmett, & Travis. The producers dropped the ball with this last season. It was rushed and badly thought out. Travis and Bay have no chemistry or passion like her and Emmet did. That's what made almost every viewer root for that relationship. Watching her and Travis together was like watching someone trying to forcefully fit the wrong puzzle piece in a puzzle..it just doesn't fit.

In my opinion they made up for Emmet's behaviour in season 4 with the first few episodes in season 5 and his depression Storyline. He had a hard time and he tried to find his way back to himself. I really started to like him again and I forgave him.
I think they made kinda a great safe of his character. I just wished they would have made more out of it (and of course I love Bemmet, but I also never saw a real connection between Bay and Travis, not like I saw it with him and Mary Beth)

YES!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! I AM SO GLAD TO HEAR OTHER PEOPLE ECHOING MY SENTIMENT!!!!!! Even though it's just a fictional TV show we grew to really love these characters and we were invested in their story and there were so many things that with all the ups and downs with them throughout the series that made us think that they're truly meant to be and I really wanted them to ultimately end up together and when I go back and watch their old scenes and the good times it makes me sad knowing that they ultimately don't end up together the two big changes that I would want to make to the overall story of Switched at Birth that are significant that affect the fabric of the overall story are number one having bayonet ultimately end up together no matter how many ups and downs and ones and off they have in between by the series finale I would have wanted to wanted to see them back together with the implication that this time it's going to be permanent come back into the scene and make amends with all the characters and all them finally becoming a big happy family I feel very cheated by these two decisions of the writers made and I really wish that they had done these two plot points differently

Bay and Travis might not have the same passion as Bay and Emmett, but they started out as friends already had respect for eachother and they are more stable, and those are the kind of relationship that will probably last the longest, maybe not that exicting, but they are understanding and suportive of eachother, Bay and Emmett were eachothers first love but you dosn't always end up with your first love, but they have respect for eachother and has learned and grown from their relationship.

I binged watched this show just recently and loved them as a couple. However, I'm not that mad at how it ended because many things were left open enough. Sure she and Travis agreed to stay together but that wasn't a guaranteed endgame in my opinion either. I think they just left it open. I don't know.

As the only (logical) solution is: keep the deep friendship and respect to each other - be supportive - true unconditional love - each burden the pain himself/herself and end up NOT as a couple - but remain true friends!

When I first saw Bay and Emmett together I was like "they are so end game" but then a few seasons later their trust in each other has diminished greatly, Emmett has turned into a Mega jerk and they cheated on each other a lot. This made me think 'first loves aren't supposed to last forever'. Them breaking up for good was the best decision for both of them because they were never nor ever going to be forever. It was nice to see in this video that they appreciated the time they had together but moved on and became mutual acquaintances from a past love.
