Hi Jamie, I built this kit and it literally fell together. I had no issues painting a lot of parts separately and adding them afterwards like the tail surfaces, the lower cowling and the belly insert. Quickboost has a replacement upper cowling with and without gun barrels. You might want to check that out. Only qualm I have is with the thick Tamiya decals… But hey, that’s what aftermarket decals are for, right? 😉 You’ll love building this absolute gem! 👍🏼
Jamie, Very good to see the HGW rivets on the agenda. Lots of people have slated them, but I used them on my 1/32 109 and had great success, My build is on the Flory forum.
Based on your observation about the upcoming Eduard kits, I'm following along and just cut bits off the sprue. Can't wait to see how you go about building and painting it!
This Bf.109G-6 from Tamiya is the most shape-accurate on the market if not count Hasegawa one which are much older. But this kit is not only accurate, it is beautifully done in molding and detail.
Thanks for that Jamie, I must get on and finish my Tamiya 1/72 G-6. Modelling is art and artists paint pictures which they think are pleasing to the eye, whether they are representational or an interpretation. I don’t believe it’s really necessary to worry about whether a model “fools” the observer into thinking they are looking at a miniature version of the real thing, only whether the model “looks interesting”. If you think it needs rivets to look good then go ahead, other modellers may think it shouldn’t have rivets to be representational, good luck to them too. Cheers, Pete.

That Hasegawa spinner is woeful, and it's very bland with detail. A very dated moulding.
