I like how the doctor did not seek to embarrass her; rather, he gave, suggestively and gently, the very answers to the questions he was asking her, without giving room for her possible lack of good/correct answers to surface. That way, the student LEARNED what she needed to learn without first being "exposed" for what she didn't know
Terrific teaching doctor. Very patient and helps with looking at the big picture but makes sure the student understands specifics. Trust me teaching doctors are not all like this..
The difference between her nervousness and his calm is equal to the decades of training and practice he probably has on her. So we probably won't get that for a long time! haha
Exactly! It is really intimidating to present to attendings, since you want to prove to be competent. The reality is you are still a student at that stage. The attending understands that and as long as you are willing to learn and are humble, he will help you. Very nice to see the attending so calm this way.

Gosh I need to shake my fear of questions . I got sweaty every time he asked a question yet I had the answer on my tongue 😂😂😂😂 great presentation .. made me realize I gotta work up my confidence
I’ve known a few doctors who are callous, egotistical, and have endangered lives with ill regard for consequences. Just like with any profession, they are still only human.
As a new extern in my first week, i am so stressed out about preseneting cases during rounds. This video was helpful. Gonna present a case of acute hepatitis in 2 days. Pls wish me luck
he had a comforting presence. many of my professors have an egotistical attitude in responding to my questions and answers, but this instructor was very patient, understanding, nonjudgmental... and also picked up in areas where the student was struggling to answer....sigh. I'm a nurse practitioner student and I wish medical doctors, not doctorate nurses, taught most of the core classes, including but not limited to studies of pathophysiology, pharmacology, differential diagnoses, and primary care....sigh...
I want to be able to this but my social anxiety is preventing me from succeeding. I took a speech course hoping it would fix my fear of public speaking but nothing changed. I think I'm just naturally shaky and on high alert. Propranolol and sertraline are ineffective and I don't know what to do. I'll be seeking help from a psychiatrist soon and hopefully I can get past this hurdle. I'm not in med school yet but I won't apply until I get over this obstacle.
Hi just curious, did you get any better? I also suffer from social anxiety but wish to go to medical school, I feel like it's holding me back from succeeding
I really enjoyed the presentation. I’m just curious to know what to monitor the patient for in the next few days. I wished the video got to that point.
Three years passed sice i entered medicine school ,it is still hard for me ,i am still at 1st stage . I do not know what will happen but i knew that i love this field and i will continue on my way .maybe die but i will not die out my favorite field . Now i learn english ,so if you find any mistake alert me pls
We have exact same way of ward work done in our college just our doctors are way too strict in asking questions after questions😅.. We really have to prepare and study alot before the day of presentation.
They taught us it was bad to say "ROS unremarkable" so I am confused what is the best way to do ROS now. Every video I watch tells me something different ugh.
Hi, I am a new grad RN and love to see this kind of discussion as well as anything related to the medical field. Does anybody know similar videos but for nursing mainly?
Hi, Merry Christmas. With the Covid pandemic understaff, with a hight patient to nurse ratio. I hope this pandemic end soon cause it hurt my feeling to see my patients and familues going through this.
I’m a 48 year old male from India, with a non medical background. I stumbled across this video thanks to You tube but stayed on….now I have all the symptoms she discussed and more ….both my knees ache and I discovered a rash on my elbow , and some suspicious patches on my abdomen…I also started hiccuping …my body is completely fucked up and am now planning to check in with my nearest general hospital for a full workup. 😮😮😮
Disease vs Trait: I thought a disease is a phenotype - it is expressed in the individual - and trait is when you are a carrier for the disease but you do not express it. However, she mentioned that both parents had to have had the disease, in order to pass it down to the next generation, but that is not necessarily the case: x-linked dominant genes come to mind. Are X-linked mutations not considered diseases? Thanks, E
Solunox she’s talking about sickle cell ‘disease’ which is passed down in an autosomal recessive-like pattern. This means both parents must have had the genes to be able to have a ‘child’ to express sickle cell ‘disease’.

Agree , unfortunately some doctors expect from you know everything so why you are a program director of a board recedency if you not teach well
I know yes really good presentation 😊
Terrific teaching doctor. Very patient and helps with looking at the big picture but makes sure the student understands specifics. Trust me teaching doctors are not all like this..
I know, some are useless.
I know, because I am guilty sometimes, specially if I'm on a hurry to my clinic!
you are 100% correct...
they will interrupt you, scold you for mistakes, and will not be this patient to listen to your history...
Who's to say it's not only for ze camera

Imagine being pimped like this and having it immortalized in the internet. Bravest woman I've ever seen
I’ve been a nurse for 50 years. The student did a very good PE and presented the case well. The attending was excellent.
I’m sorry but this not even very good .I give 6 from 10 .look how many times the teacher interrupts the student
Please any advice to me trying to enter nursing as a fresh student
@Prodigious147 Master degree in Clinical Oncology 👍
@Prodigious147 and you ?
@Prodigious147 nice ..so next time ask me before any comment. Have a nice day
Wow! What an amazing teacher the head doctor is! He’s so patient and calm. I wish I’d had a teacher like him in nursing school.
Btw you would see every doctor calm and patient for video purpose i am not doubting but it is what it is.
i'm so nervous just watching the video. But i wanna have the calmness of that head doctor.

The medical student who was presenting in this video is now in her last year of residency in internal medicine.
I got chills
Good luck
I bet shes a board certified clinical medicine practitioner right now, ha?
@@doctorlayman376 She finished her internal medicine residency and is now an allergy & immunology fellow at the U of Texas.

This was good! Reminded me of my rounds during IM rotation. I'm sure her heart was racing...mine was!
I love the level of confidence she exhibited.
nice presentation.... and we would apreciate this channel if you upload more and more of these videos
What a marvelous courageous presentation with loving support and correction.
Hats off to u guys for such a nice presentation and case discussion...would love to see more such videos coming off ur chanel..👍👍
Wow. Great teacher, and very nice presentation and confidence

Hey! I want just wondering why you would prefer medical doctors and not doctorate nurses teaching the courses you mentioned. Thank you!
why not go to medical instead of NP school then?
That's so amazing; I loved the way of teaching ! Keep it up !
I love this professor
Very encouraging environment, I wish I had this kind of staff while I was training.
I really appreciate the level .she presented history of patient. Well done sister
As if med school isn't hard enough, now you have to do it on youtube so your whole family can watch. No thanks.
😂😂😂😂 true that
😂😂😂😂😂😂 I know 😂😂😂😂
They will be proud of you 😊
Tell me about it
whats your treatement plan I would say nothing turns out the patient doesn't even exist
i would rather die than have my presentations posted on youtube, she's so brave
Oxygen is not a primary intervention in SCD because of the stagnant microcirculation. IV hydration, however is useful.
Would appreciate if you upload more videos. Thanks and keep on doing the great work.

Great discussion but what was the diagnosis because the professor said that it is not a vaso-occlusive disease nor gout ...so what?
I really enjoyed the presentation. I’m just curious to know what to monitor the patient for in the next few days. I wished the video got to that point.
I wish our teachers are all like this..there are a few like this, very few
Great presentation and also a fantastic teacher
I would like to do my electives at this teaching hospital.
Great team work please don't stopping.
This type of environment can easily give me a heart attack🥺🥺
I was laughing when I read your message here. But you are right, it's a really stressful environment.
I’m glad I’m not the only one
Good presentation!
Is there any app for patient case presentation?
The Dr. Was so friendly. I wonder why do many doctors find embarrassing of students so thrilling...
That was incredible presentation.

Sickle cell is AR, Haemophilia is XLR
Just wondering if AVN and Seronegative Spondyloarthropathies should be included on the Ddx list?
In India if we sit with crossed legs infront of our professors, they'd definitely whoop our ass.
Same with us
In India rounds like this… IMPOSSIBLE
