It's like how a character in a movie kills someone in a dramatic outburst but then snaps back to reality where he's just sitting across the person he wants to kill with a fake smile 😁

The ambiguity of perspective is masterful. It’s not deterministic. It’s not an imposition. The narrative of this song implicates anyone who has not felt loved or appreciated enough by the people they give themselves completely to (probably Pisces risings like myself).

These track 5’s are getting seriously intense - I’m actually starting to fear them- not gonna lie when I first listened to this album I skipped track 5 and went back to it after the last track evermore - I don’t recommend doing that - I got a double whammy

Everyone talked about how it ends with her accepting his toleration of her but I hear it more as the song circling back to the beginning and she’s still watching him in that one moment
This song is the perfection of genius songwriting and storytelling. If anyone doesn't think so, then they do not know Taylor at all.
This song in particular (these two albums as a whole) feels like a master class to me in songwriting. The lyrics, the harmonies, the music and production. One could sit and study it for awhile. This song is so affecting to me. I feel like it speaks to different relationships in my own life.
