What do you want to see in my next ATEM Mini Pro ISO video? Please reply with your suggestion / questions you want answered. Hope you enjoyed the video!
If you wanted to create a video podcast, could you record individual feeds from a zoom call with this? If it is possible, I’m guessing you might need to use multiple computers as sources and export full frame pinned video through an hdmi output...
Question for you: I bought an HDMI splitter so I could put two monitors on the multicam screen. But I don't get any output showing up from the splitter, and I've repeatedly confirmed the splitter is powered, and both monitors will work independently if they come straight out of the ATEM. Any ideas? Is there a specific splitter I need instead?
This is a great review! Thank yoU! Here's one thing you need: Echo catchers for your walls. Put them up there. Your audio is gonna be ten times better!
This video is underrated..seriously helpful and really fills in so many blanks. I just got my ATEM Mini Pro ISO and we are still setting up our studio but this video is going to help so much..thank you, subbed!
Excellent Alex. I just just learned of this system today and it looks like it checks all the boxes. We want to do live streams of our podcasts and then do post edits extracting out shorted segments of the broadcast for reposting as separate videos on YT IG etc. Also, we want to do live multi-cam mix live trainings and then tweak the videos in post for paid distribution. This system is genius! Your help is much appreciated.
I just used the HDMI out of the ATEM mini pro to a Elgato Camlink 4K into a 2018 Macbook pro using zoom and it worked flawlessly. I was able to use the USBc port to record the session to an SSD simultaneously. You do give up the multiview ability since you have to leave the ATEM output to PGM, but I can live with that. I also used an inexpensive HDMI splitter to also send the PGM output to EYOYO monitor and it was all quite stable. I love the idea of being able to run a Zoom concert and then be able to have the DVR session afterward to put together an edited show to post. I have an ISO on order.
I'm expecting my Iso any day now. Can't wait to try all of this stuff. Thanks for laying out the groundwork - thank goodness I understand what you are talking about.
This is game changer dude !! Good thing I had time to return the PRO version im definitely getting this. I just hope they dont come out with a 4K version in 3 months lmao
Same here on all accounts. I just shipped my Pro version back off today and waiting for the ISO to come. If they come out with a 4K version in 3 months I’ll lose it lol
A 4k version would cost a LOT more than the HD versions - the chips to do it are MUCH more expensive (I used to work in 4k broadcast equipment development)
Amazing Alex! You made using the Atem ISO for the fist time very easy. I was looking for the ISO recording and how the files would look like and boom! here you are :D
Thanks Alex. Once again you have exactly the answers I need. I just unpacked my 2nd Blackmagic Cinema Camera (6K G2). My next challenge will be to swap the in-camera footage from the Pocket 4K and 6K with the ISO files and see if I can really up my game by exporting in UHD. I'm hoping you've got another video covering this, so my weekend shooting should be fun.
Hey Joe, How did your weekend shooting go? Did it work out well. In terms of swapping out ISO footage for original media, I'd recommend checking out this video: ruclips.net/video/apfEPxuYL7E/видео.html Towards the end I show the full process. Hope this helps and thanks again for the SuperThanks!
@@AlexPettitt It went quite well. I saw that video a few months ago so that was the spark that made me decide to explore the Pocket Cinema Cameras, but I didn't remember which video covered it, so thanks for the link. I posted my first 4K optimized video last week. I forgot to check my white balance in that one, and messed up the sound, but I had fun doing a follow up showing how I could've fixed it in a second one. I also made a fun discovery, that will be covered in another followup. I shot both videos with the 6K G2 set to 4K, only to discover that it was actually cropping, which made me order a wider angle lens. When I sat down to test it, I tapped the 6K button and BOOM, the original lens was already wide enough.
Looks like Black Magic listened to you (and other's too I'm sure). Last week, my wife and daughter were shooting a program at our school using one of our ATEM Mini Pro ISO switchers (while I was shooting another program). Well, I had used the PIP function on that switcher, tied it to a specific input, and saved the startup state so it would always start up with that functionality. They told me they turned the PIP off but it kept coming back when they'd choose a certain camera. I loaded the DaVinci Resolve file today expecting to have to substitute video from the ISO recordings for every time that showed up incorrectly. Much to my surprise I saw something exciting. There were two video lines on the timeline - the base one was all the camera switches that occurred. But, on top of that was a video track that showed up every time they cut to the camera that had the PIP tied to it. Well, to eliminate the accidental PIP, I just muted that track. BINGO!!!! Now, I've got a completed project without the accidental PIP. Thanks for all the great videos you've put together for this. I'm learning so much from them.
Love it! Just got the ISO and can't wait to get started with it! Also... props for the AplhaTauri tee! Loving the F1 demo, this is exactly what I'm using the ATEM for, literally the perfect video!! Thanks!
Very helpful showcase of the atem mini pro ISO! This looks like a great solution for recording video podcasts if you have someone doing a live switch. Very exciting to see how far this tech has come with blackmagic.
I believe the issue you mentioned regarding the supersource not showing up is not a bug but missing functionality. Having that data pushing through to the .drp timeline along with multicam files should be a priority for their new features.
I think the way the files are set up in the HDD after the recording is kind of messy. Each source should have their own folder. However, I do understand why they went that route, less clicks to get to the files for editing in other software. :) The good thing is that in Resolve they already have the files organized in folders upon opening the DR project file for fine tuning the edit. I personally like editing multi-cam in PP instead of DR or FCPX. To each their own. :) Thanks for another helpful video.
I’m enjoying your work. I’m a college professor of African history. I’m interested in using this tool for my zoom class lectures that draw in my research footage in Africa and the Middle East as well as RUclips and other videos and lectures of me. I’m intrigued by your discussion of the atem mini pro iso. Say more about how I and other academics may use it for lectures. Thanks again. Great channel.
Thanks for this I always appreciate your videos. I am learning I hope you could make more tutorials. I have an atem mini pro and planning to buy the iso to add to my workflow.
Great video thank you!! Can you now stream and record with separate bit rate? I’m hoping it can record at hyperdeck high while streaming at a lower bit rate.
this is really great, Alex! I have a question... with the ATEM extreme, there are 8 inputs.. I hardly use 8 cameras... Anyway to not record all of them? I want to be able to select which cameras to record!
Thanks Alex, that helps a lot. How can I create „greenscreened face“ that I can easily place on whatever additional footage? Shoud I do that life with the ITEM Mini Keyers or is there an easy way just to record the face with the greenscreen and do the keying and positioning in Davincilater on? I would like that to do tutorials and online trainings using powerpoint slides... Thanks for your great work!
@Alex Pettitt - do you mean that the saved audio files are in fact a wet mix, with any effects applied via the ATEM Mini Pro's internal Fairlight channel strip saved & normalized to 0db? I ask because others have claimed it's the dry mix, minus all effects, which is highly annoying, if true. Ideally, one would have the ability to specify wet mix, dry mix, or both. Thanks so much for your detailed, informative videos!
Thank you for the nice video. Have you noticed that there is a difference in the contrast curve. The output has more contrast, but the original raw files were the same. Why is that?
Good job on all your recordings. Have you figured a way to view an ATEM generated timeline where you can monitor all the camera like in a real multicam edit?
Wouldn't it be great if the multicam editing worked like it does in FCPX?! Instead of having to set in and out points, I'd love to be able to just put my playhead where I'd like to change the camera angle and hit the key that corresponds with that particular camera. I like Resolve, but FCPX is still faster at pretty much everything and is my favorite editing software. Please let me know if what I just described is possible in Resolve, it would make work a little easier. I just subscribed to your channel, your content is great.
I realized the same problem. You can't do real Multicam editing with the file the Atem exports. The only workaround I've been able to do is create a new Multicam using all of the ISOS and the Program feed. Then I use the Edit page to actually Multicam. If the live switching goes well, I barely need to cut off of the program feed. All of the files are the same length so its easy to sync up. This process does add another step or two. I wish Black Magic would just update the firmware to export real Multicam files. I emailed them and called. I guess it depends on how many other people want it and if it's easy to update.
Great demo, I have mine on order! So!? What IF I don’t have a BM camera with time codes? I have an iPhone, a Mac, a Note 9, and an array of Panasonic & Sony cameras? Do they still sync? What kind of issue will there be on audio latency? Lastly, any rumors on a BM iPad Pro ATEM control panel?
Hi Alex, thanks for another great video. I really like the iso recording feature. I am waiting for my pre-order copy. What LUT do you use or recommend when using BMPCC to livestream a clean video? Thanks in advance.
Actually a large percentage of youtubers, gamers, and vloggers have spent the past year switching to Davinci Resolve. Including myself. I used premier for nearly a decade, but after trying Resolve, I couldn’t justify using premier. Resolve has a much faster work flow.
Love hearing this as I thought I was in a small minority of people who had made the switch. Still use FCP every now and then, but find with Resolves I can do an edit so much faster! Thanks for the comment :)
Yes! JayAreTV and Jay Lippman have had a growing community in the past year, and they almost exclusively talk about resolve. They have thousands of new subscribers. I switched to resolve because the production company I work for uses all Blackmagic gear. Also, I wanted to learn color grading. Thank you for your videos, they have helped me learn so much about the atem software.
Hi Alex, I have been viewing your great videos on the ATEM Mini Pro and found them great. I work in a charity involved in training and want to up our capacity in these COVID times to engage through webinars etc with our clients. Just looking for some advice, would you be able to advise on what a good starter webinar studio would consist of. We would probably go for Pro ISO, streaming bridge but what else should we consider for a kit out?
What kind of files are we getting in the saved folders video resolution wise? Is it just 1080P or is there an option to record 4K or other codecs? Nice video By the way. Thanks for sharing.
Hi ! Very nice video. I have the same issue with picture in picture. Have you found a way to get the picture in picture in Davinci ? Thanks in advance for your kind answer !
Anyone tried export XML from atem mini pro generated resolve file, and open it successfully in Premiere Pro or FCPX ? That would be a big plus for using ISO since most of editors wants to use NLE they familiar with.
Hi Alex, we love your videos! we would like to know if there is a way to keep the raw file that the ATEM mini pro iso makes, on the computer that the software is on. (the file that allows me to edit it)
Is there any way to clean up my multi cam edit in Final Cut? Id much rather be able able to just hit the number buttons to switch or change my cuts like normal in Final cut.
im having the exact same problem with the PIP recording... it does not show up in the DaVinci Project. I love the ISO but that was kind of a big part of why I was buying it... so I could almost record and edit my reaction videos practically at the same time.
@@Reedith Looking at this in December and the issue is still the same. I don't think it's a mistake, but rather soemthing it just doesn't do, which is a shame. I will get on to BM and ask if it's going to come in a firmware update. I will be recording a training course and it would be a massive time-saver to have this feature.
@@carelbrugman1192 I don’t think there’s been a mew firmware update since my last post, so I imagine nothing has changed yet. Having PIP in the project file AND editable would be a great plus.
@@carelbrugman1192 it’s a workaround, but ideally we could have the ease and flexibility of having it directly in there and editable. I also like to swap out the AMP footage for camera originals and this is not easily possible if it’s just an mp4. This workflow is so nearly perfect I really hope they go this next step.
Would you have any idea why my videos aren't showing up in the sync bin after recording all individual video sources from the ATEM ISO and clicking the resolve file it generated? They show up just fine in the media pool and can play them and all that from cut and edit pages. I have the latest version of Resolve installed. Thanks for doing what you do Alex! You're such a great resource!
Ok you educate alot .. but my question for you is that ATEM PRO 10 when you are on live stream .. how can you pick your phone call ????? Very important to know please
Recording is very limited! With the drive plugged into the ATEM for recording, the Mac must now rely on the network to control the ATEM. Which it does fine. However, not being plugged directly to the Mac, software like Teams, Zoom or OBS cannot see the ATEM. I need to share a Zoom feed into the program. Can this be done with this Mini Pro ISO?
Good Stuff as always!! But here I do not get how one can put the usb c into a ssd card and at the same time have the pro iso connected to a computer (iMac in my case). Maybe I overlooked something???
Hey, thanks for info! I am in the situation where I have MacBook Pro M1 connected to an external monitor and I want to capture the external monitor + a camera on the Atem Mini Pro ISO. However, I can't seem to figure it out because the MacBook Pro M1 only allows for one external display. Do you know how to solve this problem?
You'll need a monitor with HDMI out to connect it into the ATEM. Or connect the M1 straight into the ATEM and use the ATEM's HDMI out into your monitor. Alternatively, I saw a while ago that a company (I think is Icebox, icybox?) managed to connect 2 monitors from an M1 via their usb/thunderbolt hubs.
I haven’t, and I’m in two minds as to whether it would happen, because it could edit up cannibalising BM’s Hyperdeck recorder sales. But on the other hands, I’d love to see the DaVinci timeline features brought to the professional line of ATEMs
NO PIP in Resolve File! Alex, you are correct! the ATEM does not record PIP's to the Resolve File! Just got my ISO box and tested it. I sure hope BM Fixes this bug (undocumented feature) soon. As of this post, they have not. I really didn't want to have to become an Resolve Expert. Not having the native PIP is a giant buzz kill! I was hoping just to export to FCPX. From what I can tell, it only records the cuts, no PIP multicam in the cut page. I'd be interested in how multicam and the Sync Bin show up in FCPX, do you just lose everything?
Ok, so I've messed with Resolve. I tried some of your tricks for adding PIPs back in; they worked. But after exporting XML and messing with FCPX, I finally got the last part of your video, just use the 4 ISO's in FCPX and do what you want, because they're already sync'd. Easy! The cuts from the ATEM/Resolve are nice, but not critical. Just having 4 sync'd video clips and wav files available as media in FCPX, whether they're multicam or just stacked makes life easy; you can do your own cuts and own PIP's. The brute force easy way is just using the blade on each of the 4 stacked cam clips. Blade all our cuts, then Just hit 'V' to disable whatever cam you don't want and transform whatever Cam you need as PIP, easy peasy. Of course, the more glamorous way is to make the 4 cams a multicam clip and do the cuts in multicam.
Thanks Alex, so I got my ISO, and used this post to work with the generated files to create a Final Cut video... hopefully 🤔 I did your lesson justice ruclips.net/video/b1juFOyPZ0Q/видео.html
Hey Alex, Ido you know if there is a way to auto split the CAMs onto different video tracks in Resolve? We edit in Premiere and export and EDL, then we have to manually split the tracks. It can take a while if it's a long video, and just trying to speed up work flow. plus my guys don't like editing in Resolve.
Great tutorial. Just discovered the hardware way that supersources are not recorded on the program recording. That is most disappointing and makes no sense to me.
Yeah it’s frustrating the layout isn’t recorded to the DaVinci file. If you just need an ISO recording of the SuperSource, you can send it out on of the ATEM’s HDMI outputs and then put that into a spare input. It’s hacky, but works
Hello Alex, Thank you for the great work. I just ordered an ATEM Mini Pro ISO but I have a doubt about the workflow : I plan to use it with 3 BMPCC4K units for live theater or concerts. The ability of syncing ISO files to BRAW files in DVR later made me buy this product. But, I won't be able to connect my BMPCC4K's to the Atem with regular HDMI cables because of the distances in concert or theatre rooms I will be filming in. -I want to have access to CCU control with one of the cameras that will be used as large shot. I'm planning to use fiber HDMI cable, 30 or 50 meters. Do you know if it will work ? Any recommendations, reliable brands ? -The 2 or 3 other cameras will be linked to the ATEM through HDMI/SDI converters or through HDMI/RJ45 extenders. For these, I don't care about CCU control because camera(wo)men will control them. But, I assume these cameras won't be able to send timecode etc. to the ATEM. >Do you know if I will still be able to link ISO files to cameras files even if I cannot press the "record in all cameras" button and have it work and if timecode/camera number are not transmitted through these others types of connections ? Thank you for your help and advices !
I have one of these turning up soon. Was just wondering as I can't find anything online about compatible external drives what the minimum the write speed needs to be ?
Distant Planet TV good question, I touched on it a little in the video. It depends on the quality you set in the live streaming tab. But the maximum setting is Hyperdeck High, which records at 70mb/s. Because the ISO records 5 video files + 6 audio files simultaneously, I’d advise a minimum write speed of 400mb/s for this setting. The SanDisk Drive SSD I use can be found on my kit page : kit.co/alexpettitt/atem-mini-pro-kit
Just to clear up the data rate confusion (Ok, no one has asked but I wanted the correct info known) - It's actually 70 Megabits per second. Not Megabytes. Blackmagic has it written as 70 Mb/s on their website for the bitrate, which is Megabits. Divide that by 8 to get the Megabytes (MB). Just don't want people thinking they will eat up 400 megabytes of space per second if they are recording 5 files at the highest quality; it would actually be closer to 50 MB/s. So don't worry, you will not use 1GB in 2.5 seconds! Otherwise your 256GB SSD would only give you 10 minutes of recording time. That said, I do wish the Atem Mini Pro ISO would record at 100 Mb/s which is what most of my cameras record internally! 70 is probably fine for a lot of people.
So talking with Blackmagic support I've found this to be a bit disturbing. Whenever the media is removed from the ATEM Mini xxx the drive is still mounted. Meaning the data could possibly become corrupt or even damage the drive. I haven't used the unit long enough to determine that this could be a problem but I'm sure it would be. I've only been in the computer business for 30 years but I do see this as a problem.
Thanks so much for this, I just purchased the ATEM MINI PRO ISO based on this. I have one problem though: I use a MacBook retina running BIG SUR. When I connect this to the ATEM MINI the video signal is clipped (16-235) which means when demoing things in Photoshop or even keynote, any graphic lighter than RGB 236 will be clipped, and graphics darker than 16 goes completely Black. All the camera input is fine. I've tried all the camera profiles I have available, have tried hardware calibrating the ATEM mini (not possible as you can't load a TRC curve) and making a gamma adjustment. None of these work satisfactorily. When making photoshop tutorials and demonstrating photography this sucks big-time as what I see on the screen is not the same (or even close) to what viewers see. DO you have any insight on how to make the ATEM accept a FULL RGB signal (0-255) or force the MacBook to limit the video output to 16-235?
A little update on this after some testing today. The 4x ISO files are recorded at full Hyperdeck High quality no matter what you set your streaming output to. So if you set your streaming output to "Streaming Medium" for example, then your Stream Output and Program Record will be set to that bitrate, but your 4 ISO files will still be recorded at Hyperdeck High quality! This is awesome to see :)
Hey Alex, appreciate the Video. Right now I'm trying to make some adjustments in DaVinci to a concert I cut live the other day. For some reason in Sync Bin it only shows one Camera, so I can't andjust camerankles. I Got all the ISO files, though. Can you help me? Are my settings wrong? Can I fix this, or do I Have to cut it from scratch? Cheers
Got my ISO this afternoon. Hurrah! Hadn't had time to test, so here is a question: I believe that the Program stream is recorded via USB-C at the streaming rate that is set under Live Stream, so are the iSO tracks also at this rate (e.g. 6Mbps), OR are the ISO tracks recorded at the incoming source rate and unaffected by the streaming rate?
Great question and glad your unit has arrived. I'm actually going to be running a test on this today to get confirmation, as I was original told that all 5 recordings (program out and 4 iso's) use the quality rate selected in the streaming settings (so up to 70mb/s for Hyperdeck High). But I want to double check this myself just to make sure :)
@@AlexPettitt My ISO arrived this morning (ordered yesterday!). I have the same question regarding the data rates. I use a Samsung T5 and in all my tests this morning, it seems to be fine. I'll be watching with interest to see what you find.
Tim Cooper Samsung T5 will be fine, even if BM ISO recorded everything at Hyperdeck High, that is 70mb/s per file. So X5 that + a little extra headroom for the audio recordings and Davinci file would be around 400mb/s. And I believe those T5s are 540mb/s so you’d be fine using the max quality :)
@@AlexPettitt Thanks, Alex. The switch to the ISO was the right move for me (even though I had purchased the Pro only 6 weeks ago!). The new features are just what I needed for my use case (great for recording Udemy and other educational material off-line). I just now need to sell my Pro... looks like an eBay listing this week! I have been happy with the Samsung T5, but had been considering the SanDisk Extreme Pro because of the specs. By the way, are you going to be getting the ATEM Streaming Bridge? I'm not sure I have a use case for it, so I need to see it being used and explained better than at the launch.
Tim Cooper hey Tim, really glad to hear all is working well for you 👍 As for the streaming bridge, I will be getting one to full test out once the begin shipping yes. So rest assured a full explainer and demo will be coming to the channel :)
Great videos! Thanks. Just a question if you don't mind. I have the ISO model. I put three hdmi inputs into the Extreme and one microphone input, and after about 2 minutes of recording the ISO recordings on my SSD the files were about 6GB, with the audio alone at about 1GB! The ISO option will record all 9 channels of video (8 + program) and 8 stereo channels of audio; even in my case of 3 videos and 1 audio. Fast SSD's are required for this unit and are expensive, so it would be good to only record what is needed so as to maximise recording time on a given SSD. However my question is what is your experience in opening up the ISO files in DaVinci Resolve? I have a fast computer and use Preniere Pro extensively without issues, but opening up the DaVinci Resolve ISO file resulted in not being able to even play the video back smoothly making it impossible to edit. Am I doing something wrong? Is it that Resolve is trying to process 8 video streams simultaneously (even though 5 video channels are blank) that is slowing it down?! I tried deleting the five blank channels yet the playback performance was still shockingly slow and jittery making it impossible to edit. I even tried creating optimised video in Resolve for my timeline and after about 30 minutes of processing time for the 2 minute timeline and still not halfway through, I cancelled the process. Your thoughts and suggestions, and maybe even a video on using the ISO model end-to-end with Resolve would be greatly appreciated. After all, the ISO model is hundreds of dollars more expensive than the base Extreme model, and this is the only extra feature it offers, so it is important that it works well with DaVinci Resolve. At this point it is unusable for me. Help ! :-)
I'm recording a video podcast using 2x d650s (close ups) and a d850 (wide shot) using obs via hdmi with camlink capture cards and I've got a lag on the d850 video. The audio is going through 3 cardiod mics through a behringer xenyx x1622usb mixer. The d650s have a very slight sync problem with audio which is unnoticeable and I can deal with it, the d850 is another matter, it's way off. I can delay video in obs so that all the video link up, but the audio is then out on all 3. I've tried adjusting the delay in the advance audio settings, but it doesn't work. It actually doesnt do anything at all. Anyway, I've found a shop in the uk selling the atem mini iso's new for £450 which is a bargain and I've ordered one off the cuff because its a limited time deal. Is it possible to sync all the cameras and the audio with the iso? If anyone wants an iso at this price it's from Eastwood Sound and Vision.
When editing the Davinci Multicam file, does the export re use the ISO files? Ergo, does the 5th stream (final recording) need to be Hyperdeck High if the project is going to be edited and exported, anyway? I can see why it would if you plan to use the edit file directly.
What do you want to see in my next ATEM Mini Pro ISO video? Please reply with your suggestion / questions you want answered. Hope you enjoyed the video!
Can you show how to integrate the iso and the pro?
MotherBee you mean how to use both together!l at the same time?
I'd like to see the workflow in using the cameras internal 4k video quality with the davinci resolve project file.
Hey James, this is awesome to hear! And glad the videos have been useful :) Cheers for the lovely comment!
Love it! Just got the ISO and can't wait to get started with it! Also... props for the AplhaTauri tee! Loving the F1 demo, this is exactly what I'm using the ATEM for, literally the perfect video!! Thanks!
This tutorial really helps me optimizing my workflow
Very helpful showcase of the atem mini pro ISO! This looks like a great solution for recording video podcasts if you have someone doing a live switch. Very exciting to see how far this tech has come with blackmagic.
For Podcast, I really do think this is going to speed up peoples workflow massively! I will be doing a video showing exactly this very soon!
I believe the issue you mentioned regarding the supersource not showing up is not a bug but missing functionality. Having that data pushing through to the .drp timeline along with multicam files should be a priority for their new features.
Wonderful explanation! 👏👏👏
Thank you very much
I think the way the files are set up in the HDD after the recording is kind of messy. Each source should have their own folder. However, I do understand why they went that route, less clicks to get to the files for editing in other software. :)
The good thing is that in Resolve they already have the files organized in folders upon opening the DR project file for fine tuning the edit.
I personally like editing multi-cam in PP instead of DR or FCPX. To each their own. :)
Thanks for another helpful video.
Thanks for your videos! The EDL post live editing is a must have feature for me so appreciate the explainer
Check out my most recent tips video, you’ll find that super helpful for the EDL workflow :)
Nice work Alex! Good video! I think Black Magic are doing everything right, seriously smart product the Atem Iso...
Excellent, Mr. Pettitt.
This was really helpful! I do guitar instruction videos and have a 3 camera setup-- this got me up and running really fast! Thank you!
Thank you, Alex! Mine is on order and your video was so helpful. Looking forward to the next one.
Really glad to hear this Alan! You’ll love it
Just bought one today, cant wait to use it Monday!!
Thanks for your wonderful videos, Alex. I'm just curious - How large (file size) are those individual ISO video files? Thanks!!
Thanks for this I always appreciate your videos. I am learning I hope you could make more tutorials. I have an atem mini pro and planning to buy the iso to add to my workflow.
Yes correct Alex. Am into food videos but I conduct classes on line so 4 hdmi will not be enough
Great video thank you!! Can you now stream and record with separate bit rate? I’m hoping it can record at hyperdeck high while streaming at a lower bit rate.
Unfortunately not, what you set in the streaming tab is what is used for all recordings too
Thx for this demo, clear and well done. Bravo !
this is really great, Alex! I have a question... with the ATEM extreme, there are 8 inputs.. I hardly use 8 cameras... Anyway to not record all of them? I want to be able to select which cameras to record!
How do you replace the iso footage with the UHD footage from the camera? Awesome review!
great vid subbed !! makes doing Multicam look easy
Very informative Alex, would like to see the premiere pro version of what you did in FCP
Pretty much exactly the same, but I will be sure to use Premiere in my next demo vid. Thanks for the suggestion :)
I’ll check this and get back to you, I only noticed the levels as I don’t tend to apply many effects...but I’ll give it a go and see what happens
Thank you for the nice video. Have you noticed that there is a difference in the contrast curve. The output has more contrast, but the original raw files were the same. Why is that?
oh, thanks for the sync bin explained in a few words!
I would order one, but by the time it arrives they launch a new model 🙄
So true!!
You are right 👌🏿
Same as buying cameras. But you can use your old ATEM Minis to feed in additional inputs and as extra keyers.
Still going
Good job on all your recordings. Have you figured a way to view an ATEM generated timeline where you can monitor all the camera like in a real multicam edit?
Is there any tutorials on editing supersource within the saved DR project file?
Man, an answer to the above question would be good to see. Thanks for the question.
@@prod4540 You'd think the ATEM firmware could timestamp the HDMI as it comes in... just sayin'
Yes, I agree!
Hi Alex, thanks for another great video. I really like the iso recording feature. I am waiting for my pre-order copy. What LUT do you use or recommend when using BMPCC to livestream a clean video? Thanks in advance.
Hi Alex, I’m a fairly new fan. You do a super job. I’m curious what do you use for editing with DaVinci? A Mac? PC? Specs? Thanks !!
Hi, great video, thanks. I cant find the iso files! I only have the mp4 full edit. A
What am i doing wrong?
As always another great video. Just one question. Is time code recorded with only the atem cameras or any camera input, say a canon eos?
Thank you for your videos, they have helped me learn so much about the atem software.
well made tutorial! Thanks!
Brilliant and game changer product it is.
Is there any way to record the key or Picture in Picture into the Resolve project?
What kind of files are we getting in the saved folders video resolution wise? Is it just 1080P or is there an option to record 4K or other codecs? Nice video By the way. Thanks for sharing.
Hi ! Very nice video. I have the same issue with picture in picture. Have you found a way to get the picture in picture in Davinci ? Thanks in advance for your kind answer !
Anyone tried export XML from atem mini pro generated resolve file, and open it successfully in Premiere Pro or FCPX ? That would be a big plus for using ISO since most of editors wants to use NLE they familiar with.
I edit in FCPX so this capability would also be a big plus for me. I have not figured out how to do it yet.
Exporting from DaVinci an XML file works great to import in Premiere Pro
Thanks mate ..nicely ....
I love the ISO but that was kind of a big part of why I was buying it... so I could almost record and edit my reaction videos practically at the same time.
has it been fixed yet ?
I thank you very much bro... nicely ..
MUCHAS GRACIAS... SI FUERAS MUY AMABLE EN ESPAÑOL, PARA TODOS LOS LATINOS DEL MUNDO, SALUDOS DESDE PERU.
Ethernet from atem to router, computer on WiFi on the same network.
Great video! Thank you so much!!!
You looks better with the beard~ XD
By the way, Do you know how to send Atem Mini Pro "PROGRAM" to "iPhone" individual Apps for Live Streaming?
I’m ready to sell my Pro and pre order the ISO. However have you heard any rumors about an ATEM Studio with ISO capability soon?
I haven’t, and I’m in two minds as to whether it would happen, because it could edit up cannibalising BM’s Hyperdeck recorder sales. But on the other hands, I’d love to see the DaVinci timeline features brought to the professional line of ATEMs
I love your hair!
Haha thanks!
Is there an option to automatically include audio from hdmi in the video file? Or which other way do you suggest?
Thanks Alex, so I got my ISO, and used this post to work with the generated files to create a Final Cut video... hopefully 🤔 I did your lesson justice

A question: in which resolution are the ISO files recorded? Is 4K possible?
Hello Alex,
Thank you for the great work.
I just ordered an ATEM Mini Pro ISO but I have a doubt about the workflow :
I plan to use it with 3 BMPCC4K units for live theater or concerts.
Is the ISO pro the best one to get for creating RUclips content if you don't particularly want to live stream but add multiple angles to your videos?
@@AlexPettitt Thanks for the info ... Yeah was looking at the Sandisk SSD you were using.
May I ask.. how do I connect my Atem Software Control(in the laptop) if the USB C port is using for SSD recording.?
good question
Hello Alex, can atem mini pro ISO stream and record ISOs in max quality? Thanks
now that that ATEM mini EXTREME is out... does this apply to that device the same way?
or are there differences to know?
I see you've addressed that in a comment on a different video!
So talking with Blackmagic support I've found this to be a bit disturbing.
Whenever the media is removed from the ATEM Mini xxx the drive is still mounted.
Meaning the data could possibly become corrupt or even damage the drive. I haven't
used the unit long enough to determine that this could be a problem but I'm sure it would be.
I've only been in the computer business for 30 years but I do see this as a problem.
Can you use the ISO with zoom and record all the channels on an external hard drive?...how so when the usb-c is being used for one or the other?
can you use a USB splitter so you use it for recording on SSD and as a webcam source for streaming? or is there another way of doing this? thanks
do I need blackmagic camers for a better workflow or anything will go?
I have my Mac laptop connected to the mini pro iso but want to record with that output to a SSD. How do I do both connections? Thanks!!!
Can I upload that folder to my own edit software other than using davinci?
on the quality of the 4 videos vs the quality of the original video. Can you do a live at one quality and record the 4 entries in another?
Not currently, the quality you set for streaming is also the quality that is used for recording. hope this helps :)
I guess you could use the in camera files if you want a better codec or resolution
Alex Pettitt That’s a game changer. Thanks for make great videos, I learned a lot.
Is this similar with Adobe Audition, please ?
When I open the drp file I do not see the audio in either timeline (upper or lower) on the Cut page. Can you tell me how to enable it?
Hey Alex, appreciate the Video. Right now I'm trying to make some adjustments in DaVinci to a concert I cut live the other day. For some reason in Sync Bin it only shows one Camera, so I can't andjust camerankles. I Got all the ISO files, though. Can you help me? Are my settings wrong? Can I fix this, or do I Have to cut it from scratch? Cheers
Nevermind. For some weird reason it does work now. Oh the wonders of computermagic.
Help ! :-)
When oh when will these become available?
They are available now.. mine came just 5 mins ago in the UK.. Depends where you are and which dealer you go through.
@@excipiomedia I can find no US retailer that has them in stock. If someone finds one please let me know. TIA
