Nice video Josh! What all the people who hate on the carpet and interior colors don’t understand is you’re more likely to find an ORV in a remote elk camp or boondocking on public lands than in an RV park. We bought the 26KVS. All the build quality and features heavily outweigh the interior color. If color and decor are your jam go buy some brand new junk coming out of Indiana these days. Those are “pretty”. Ours came with a Zamp solar charge controller, a 170W panel on the roof and the add-to plug next to the pass through. And you are correct about furnace fans sucking the power down at night!
These remind me of the old Kit Corporation RVs from the 1980s and early 90s, about the same time Pauly Shore was making hit comedies. Well built, heavier because of the build quality. The decor even matches, so is this the new Retro??? Ok by me. I like the quality poured into this & should prove durable for years to come as long as she gets the care she deserves!

Hey Josh, I saw one of these yesterday at an RV show and really like them. The build quality and all-weather livability, especially for off grid, seems great. They have some nice updates for 2024. Any chance you could do a review of a new 24RKS and maybe share some thoughts on it versus some other models in terms of off-road, boondocking, true 4 season, full-ish time living? Also, other than maybe installing a mesh screen or needing to vacuum them out occasionally...what is the practical downside to floor vents? The ORV guy I spoke to said the upside is the whole floor and underbelly stays warmer with floor venting.
I need to make a trip out west to cover some of this stuff. They make a great product Regarding heating systems: I have a video on that! ruclips.net/video/saU96ot_sUU/видео.html

@@JoshtheRVNerd Hey Josh, I'm down to this (2024 model) and an Alliance 252RL. I could tow either no problem, so weight isn't an issue. The ORV is more $$, but I'd want to upgrade the suspension on the Alliance and the ORV comes with 200w more of solar... so the price difference wouldn't be as much as it initially seems. The floor vents and carpet are OK, so that's not a deciding factor. I think it's coming down to build quality/type: composite walls and roof vs marine grade plywood and custom frame, as well as after-sale service. Any thoughts to help the decision?
I think they expect people using these to carry more water in the tanks vs the "average" user Plus.. hefty CCC is often an indicator of a stronger overall build
@@JoshtheRVNerd I'm not a fan of stable steps even when not boondocking. I don't care for they way they are stored inside the trailer due to dirt and water nor the amount of room they require outside when you have tight spaces.
ORV uses suicide doors on their rear lounge models because of restraints caused by the water heater and awning arm. We have the Blackstone series (larger) of this floorplan and the door is a little awkward at times with the awning out but not a deal breaker. The only solution would be to use a much shorter awning like other manufacturers.
We do not have these in Michigan as the shipping really hurts the price tag out here. But you can see where we have them here: www.bishs.com/rv-search?manufacturer=Outdoors+RV
The cost savings alone of rationalizing two fan SKUs into one would MORE than pay the cost difference of equipping all RVs exclusively with XL fans - not to mention goodwill. Few things are more off-putting than spending $60K with the knowledge of needing to spend another $250 to get what you really want.
If we have any in stock, then our website will have pricing. I leave links in the description so you can check easily If we are sold out, then our local folks can get you some figures. No sweat I am not in sales myself and lack pricing files
As far as vehicles go-in theory a “heavy half” ton well equipped could do it. Likely fine for flatlanding Mountains though 3/4 and up would be so much more comfortable towing
Hi Josh, we recently discovered the Outdoors RV brand. We’re impressed with everything except the availability of units. That problem seems to stem from high quality, low production, manufacturing processes. In your opinion, is there a brand with similar quality that may be more available especially in the central and southern eastern part of the country?
ORV is awesome. They're only made in Oregon and are a smaller outfit overall There's not much like them other than their sister-company Northwood RV Nearly everything that services the southeastern part of the country will be likely out of the traditional indiana plants. Something like a brinkley or alliance MIGHT give you some of the feels you're seeking. Ember touring edition perhaps
Last I knew neither of those were offered by ORV but I may not have the most current details on them. Our team at our ORV stores can likely get you clarity on that. Try giving Parker a call at 402-505-2400 & he can run thru a build sheet with you!
Lol, I’m extremely near sited as well! With that being said. I’m still going to want a larger tv, because with my glasses, THAT tv will probably look like a 22”…or smaller. For me personally, that’s not adequate for a living room tv.
We are beginning our search for our first RV and are very impressed with this one. We even like the browns 😊 We see that this is built for the mountains and western Canada, but we live in Florida. Would it work in a less mountainous area and warmer climate? Or is there something comparable that would work for us? We like its sturdy construction.

I suspect we're going to start seeing more 12v fridges and more factory solar on these moving forward based on some changes I am seeing in 2-way fridge supply industry-wide. Regarding powering a Washer/Dryer -- the solar doesn't factor into that directly. Solar really only charges your batteries. Solar doesn't _run_ anything typically (if anything, then it'll only be some lights perhaps) 3k inverter should run most anything but I don't have any specific data/training there.
Is closet big enough to get washer/dryer in think if can get it in I can modify for use for water and drain as for solar 3000 watt inverter works for wash very limited dryer I also use a 2,200 watt gen to supplement solar ( 3000 inverter very min time air conditioning etc. ) So can I get wash/dryer in closet ? Need 24 wide and 33 high debt not sure (set up I have now washer sticks out approx 4 inches due to wheel well which is fine rest of set up is uses out side spray cold spray port and bucket for catch for drain at present works good will finish process of plumbing soon , for now opening of compartment door behind wash/dryer works ok and gets job done thanks for your help
Someone's gonna misread that title as "Couple's RV only" and solo in it just to spite you. That really is a neat stove backsplash. I think you meant you prefer a white AC shroud, though. :) Edit: Why go back to your room to sleep? There're plenty of RVs to choose from where you are!
@Josh the RV Nerd at Bish's RV I've had great luck running a strip of wide eternabond tape along the top of the awning right where it attaches to the rig. When the awning is stowed, the tape provides protection from the sun.

I am trying to be better about making sure the bath door is shut
@@JoshtheRVNerd Respect dood!!! Thank you
@@southfla9000 Appreciate the constructive input btw. That's the kind of stuff I refer to when I say "viewers drive this channel
I never used to do ANY of that extra stuff but started including it based on comments like this
Like.. if I were going to buy an RV, then yeah.. that's something I'd like to see. Makes sense. Let's do it.
Good place to put rolled up towels beside the shower.
I looked at the Alliance at Boise RV expo they were amazing.
😊
Great review. I love the exterior colours but not so much the interior ones. I agree, not everyone wants a long rv but we still want quality. We have a Jayco Eagle, wish they made a short couples more half ton towable one. We would change ours.
I'd love to see some smaller Eagle HT models but Jayco's lineup is a little funny like that sometimes.
Small-to-medium = Jay Feather
Medium-to-Large = White Hawk
Large to EXTRA Large = Eagle HT & Eagle
Really nice trailer.
I like this one because it has 2 entry doors
If they made these with a fiberglass roof, it would be the best RV out there.
I really like that idea actually
14:44 I started thinking about this and I have a water heater and a furnace in that area. My kids are grown and I don’t drink barley pop so I should be OK.! 😅
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My favorite travel trailer as of now ... the titanium version tho ...
I can see the attraction!
When you get the chance, PLEASE review Wildwood/Salem's new Versatile Cargo trailers. I was looking at their 260TRK, but now I'm waiting on the 262VC. just enough room to put my motorcycle.
Will do my best to find one
Man Love it !! Looks like a comfy cabin !!
It does!
Thanks for showing these brands! I tow with a 3/4 ton,and have been wondering if anyone made a heavier duty, well built, large cargo capacity trailer with good tank capacity in this under 30 foot range. Yes, color schemes and carpet are dated but I’d bet these ORV and NW trailers would feel like home in no time. The functionality and quality appear to be awesome! Think I’ve found the direction I want to go when we replace our Cougar, which we love, in a couple of years. Thanks again!
Northwood and ORV (sister companies by the way) Are likely a good match for what you're seeking
Ty Josh .
You bet
Like layout, like storage, but no bath ok, by the fridge, I would put wash towel for cleaning hand, micro sees😮blurry u! Like 2 have way to lock!! Can u put stable steps on it? If can..😅
Yeah stable steps could be upfitted if desired
Thanks nerd. I still like these ORV trailers.
They’re sharp
“Officially married come morning time!” 😂. 👏👏👏. I love these little extras on top of the educational information!

More of this brand please.
Not enough on this Brand!

HEY JOSH!! I LOVE your videos and appreciate your insight. Thanks to your very thorough videos, Outdoors RV has been my fave for some time now, but what ever happened to Highland Ridge? I have always loved Open Range travel trailers. They were more prominent a few years back, but I wonder where they've gone. Can you enlighten me!!??
They kinda fizzled but I feel like they’re clawing back up
@@JoshtheRVNerd Wow, that was fast! Thanks so much!
Is there a 24 RKS to show/walk through? I like the interior color. White interior and camping just dont go together in my book.
Still bulking up my catalog of ORV I’m afraid. Haven’t quite gotten to that one yet
Great lookin Travel Trailer 😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Ty!
I didn't see a dedicated generator prep/space? I'm leaning northwest/arctic fox for the robust light off-road build and dedicated generator space.
They don’t have that on every ORV model as I recall
Hard to find in the mid west.

The area in the bedroom you were calling a cat cubby is actually for your shoes or slippers. 😎
or the cat's shoes and slippers... lol :)
Thank you for sharing
These remind me of the old Kit Corporation RVs from the 1980s and early 90s, about the same time Pauly Shore was making hit comedies. Well built, heavier because of the build quality. The decor even matches, so is this the new Retro??? Ok by me. I like the quality poured into this & should prove durable for years to come as long as she gets the care she deserves!
It's kinda crazy how big Pauly Shore was and then he just kinda.. vanished
@@JoshtheRVNerd Right?? Maybe it was an invasion of the body snatchers?
@@DavidHBurkart It's kinda cool seeing him now. He's still VERY MUCH the Pauly we remember, but older and more subdued which is cool to see
@@JoshtheRVNerd Yep, this prompted me to check out his Wiki. Seems like he transitioned very well & I am glad to see he did

@@DocJ58-OCB Hmmm... nothing coming to mind but that doesn't mean I'm right
Josh, thank you for all the information you give us. It is greatly appreciated. Is this brand available east of the Mississippi? Could I view it at your Coldwater store?
These are only made in Oregon so shipping costs makes gesturing them a problem further East. We do not have them in Michigan
I would prefer a couch. Our dogs just cuddle up with us on the sofa. Those chairs wouldn’t work. Do they offer a sofa/ couch option, instead of the two recliners??
Apologies I don’t know their options list offhand but our team at www.bishs.com/contact-us can verify
Nice TT, but surprised it has a Schwintek slide. Which would keep me from buying one. Otherwise it’s a nice TT. Nice video, all we need now is the 20BD. They made a new toy hauler, but it may be the only one they make. Thompson RV has it.
Please explain, what’s the issues with a Schwintek slide? Are there some flaws with design or longevity? Many thx
Josh…have you done Outdoors RV reviews before…this is the first one I recall seeing….we have a Glacier Peak Titanium.
Very few. I have only been able to get 3-4 total so far
That is a sweet one.
Interesting video! I like all the detail.
Glad you liked it!
They make a great product
Regarding heating systems: I have a video on that!

@@JoshtheRVNerdThanks Josh. If you get down to Oregon to visit ORV, let me know...would be happy to buy you dinner to say thanks for all the knowledge you are dropping on us.
Can hold a ton of storage weight, but not storage areas to but it. Guess that keeps it tow safe because you’ll never hit the weight.
I think they expect people using these to carry more water in the tanks vs the "average" user
Plus.. hefty CCC is often an indicator of a stronger overall build
They do so much well but definitely need to update the decor and why are they using the old style stairs?
Lot of boondockers don’t like the stable steps due to the uneven conditions they encounter
@@JoshtheRVNerd I'm not a fan of stable steps even when not boondocking. I don't care for they way they are stored inside the trailer due to dirt and water nor the amount of room they require outside when you have tight spaces.
Hey Josh hello from Demorest Georgia! Any suggestions for us super fluffy men who need a larger shower in a couples camper? Thanks!
Jay flight and tracer are often good for those
I'm sure you'll get some flack for the title: Heavy Duty Couples"?
Hi Josh,
I noticed the rear kitchen door opens the opposite way. I was always under the impression that the hinge should be on the right side.
Didn’t even realize…
ORV uses suicide doors on their rear lounge models because of restraints caused by the water heater and awning arm. We have the Blackstone series (larger) of this floorplan and the door is a little awkward at times with the awning out but not a deal breaker. The only solution would be to use a much shorter awning like other manufacturers.
Josh, can you look at it in Michigan? Where is the nearest dealership?
We do not have these in Michigan as the shipping really hurts the price tag out here. But you can see where we have them here: www.bishs.com/rv-search?manufacturer=Outdoors+RV
The cost savings alone of rationalizing two fan SKUs into one would MORE than pay the cost difference of equipping all RVs exclusively with XL fans - not to mention goodwill. Few things are more off-putting than spending $60K with the knowledge of needing to spend another $250 to get what you really want.
I prefer having them done right from the factory
Loved it. What's the price and what truck do you recommend to haul this trailer
If we have any in stock, then our website will have pricing. I leave links in the description so you can check easily
If we are sold out, then our local folks can get you some figures. No sweat
I am not in sales myself and lack pricing files
As far as vehicles go-in theory a “heavy half” ton well equipped could do it. Likely fine for flatlanding
Mountains though 3/4 and up would be so much more comfortable towing
Hi Josh, we recently discovered the Outdoors RV brand. We’re impressed with everything except the availability of units. That problem seems to stem from high quality, low production, manufacturing processes. In your opinion, is there a brand with similar quality that may be more available especially in the central and southern eastern part of the country?
ORV is awesome. They're only made in Oregon and are a smaller outfit overall
There's not much like them other than their sister-company Northwood RV
Nearly everything that services the southeastern part of the country will be likely out of the traditional indiana plants. Something like a brinkley or alliance MIGHT give you some of the feels you're seeking. Ember touring edition perhaps
That cubby under the bed between the drawers is a place to kick off your shoes.
👍🏻👍🏻
That little slot let's see.... broom, umbrella, dust mop, camp flag, walking stick, baseball bat, hunting spear, and telescope.
Quite the collection!
Light Saber
It's there an optional tankless heater? And an optional 12v frig? It's a great floor plan which needs a ¾ ton pick up
Last I knew neither of those were offered by ORV but I may not have the most current details on them. Our team at our ORV stores can likely get you clarity on that. Try giving Parker a call at 402-505-2400 & he can run thru a build sheet with you!
@@JoshtheRVNerd Thanks, Josh. Happy Thanksgiving
Hey Hoshi. Do they make a shorter trailer with the works like this one?
yeah ORV has a few smaller models as well I just don't get a chance to record much of their lineup
Lol, I’m extremely near sited as well! With that being said. I’m still going to want a larger tv, because with my glasses, THAT tv will probably look like a 22”…or smaller. For me personally, that’s not adequate for a living room tv.
When I was younger I never understood comments like these. I clipped 40 last year and my eyesight has really started taking a nosedive
Great video as usual
Thank you!
Colors are so yellow looking and and makes this think look like it's from the 80s. Some nice touches but not the camper for us tho
I would say my camera is funny about colors sometimes so take it with a gain of salt. Check one out in person sometime
Camera/ lighting effect. Rich browns and tans but no yellow hue in person. Owner here.
@@southfork67 TY for this
We are beginning our search for our first RV and are very impressed with this one. We even like the browns 😊 We see that this is built for the mountains and western Canada, but we live in Florida. Would it work in a less mountainous area and warmer climate? Or is there something comparable that would work for us? We like its sturdy construction.
These are a pretty unique critter made in the PNW. Short or having one shipped there’s nothing made in the East really like this

Josh I think you hit most of my dreams with this one except my full-time living with washer/dryer not a fan of gas electric fridge and it sounds like it may be possible 600 + watts solar and 3,000 inverter/ charger any way closer big enough washer/dryer ? Understanding on my end fabrication is space 24w and 33h rest I think I could do fabrication for w/d you darn near have my dreams ( I have a ember 201 fbq which I have done just that using out side spray port cold & Lowe's bucket temp. Set up till plumbed and and taped in to kitchen you have me almost wth 14 pds . Sugar in 4.5 pds.bag remember only worked for bank didn't own it, as always excellent presentation advise possibility closest w/d 12 v fridge I am off and about using blm camping seeing as many national parks as I can for the summer / fall and possibly Alaska pending uninsane gas prices thank you much nerd
Solar doesn't _run_ anything typically (if anything, then it'll only be some lights perhaps)
3k inverter should run most anything but I don't have any specific data/training there.

Edit: Why go back to your room to sleep? There're plenty of RVs to choose from where you are!
Quieter in my room 😉
With that awning cover, can it be used without taking it off?
The awning cover IS the base of the awning. You just roll it out like normal
@Josh the RV Nerd at Bish's RV
I've had great luck running a strip of wide eternabond tape along the top of the awning right where it attaches to the rig. When the awning is stowed, the tape provides protection from the sun.
Would prefer a fireplace under the tv
