I can't wait to tell my mom what you all have done to reclaim this battlefield. We visited as a family in about 2004, around the time of the 140th anniversary. I was about 15 then, and profoundly disappointed in how much was lost to urban sprawl. We knew of one ancestor who had been at the battle, and in my genealogical research since I've found at least two others and possibly a fourth. Naturally I've always felt a connection to the location. It's heart-warming to find this channel and a staff that cares so deeply--it's reignited my fascination with the campaign. I look forward to coming through sometime in the spring hopefully.

Everyone should become a member of American Battlefield Trust. We have been very active in saving all Civil War battlefields, especially Franklin.

I hope you keep producing these videos. Still one of the greatest potentials for battlefield preservation in the country. I think history will make a come back.

My 2nd Great Grandfather was Benjamin Branch, he was born in 1822, North Carolina and died 28 Feb 1900 in Ray County, Missouri. He was in the 44th Missouri, Company B, and was wounded at the Battle of Franklin. He was lame the rest of his life.
HE is why this project has so much meaning for me!

And then you have Murfreesboro...... Pristine battlefield that still looked like the fields and roads even of 1862.....then the early 2000s the city, county, and state allowed the bulldozers to run rampant and not only destroyed, forever alter the land until it could almost never be returned to any semblance of what it had been. Criminal, criminal how that bloodied ground was desecrated !

A "union" held together by military force is no union at all. The Republic of the Founders died in 1865.
