For everyone saying that the corals dead and bleached, I have recently went to this exact location and luckily everything has recovered. The coral was pretty colourful. Of course when you go you expect a bit better because where you see picture of coral they usually make coral seem brighter (I don’t think this makes sense at all but whatever) I just want to get the point across that Coral isn’t rainbow. Coral is usually brown (depending on species) I found when I went, the most common colours were brown, green and red. I am no coral expert but coral is usually not that vibrant. It’s like trees, trees are brown and green and can’t change colour. This makes no sense whatsoever but I just wanted to let everyone know, everything seems to have recovered. Thanks for reading this comment 1 year later lol. Edit: In this video there wasn’t much fish and coral, now there is layers and layers of coral and fish.
Whered the fish go? Reef looks dead, tons of vibrancy missing, i spent 5 years diving the gbr from innisfail to warrior reef in t.s. that looks sh.i.t.
Hi guys , loved your video . Could you tell me about the cost and the full time you spent on the tour . I see it says 4 hours on the pontoon . I will spending 3 days in cairns next February and would love to do something like this . Does this leave from cairns marina ? TIA , Tony
Thanks, great footage. Are the life vests mandatory though? I'm a competent swimmer and would like to be able to freedive a bit to be closer to the critters when we go. But I also know that's a security requirement on many organised trips...
Thanks. I’m pretty certain they were and in the deep areas it was a little challenging to go down low. I didn’t mind too much because after an hour or so, it’s nice to just float lol We also did Green Island which is just off the shore and no vests needed. But a different reef to the outer reef. Both were incredible.
@@Fouraroundtheworld thanks for the tips, we'll probably go to all possible places from your blog post, incl. the cruise from Port Douglas plus Green And Fitzroy Islands. We're both massive snorkeling nutters and begginer freedivers. We've snorkeled in all unpatrolled places around Sydney and on isolated reefs on Indian Ocean from sandbars with no supervision for hours, but I understand that it's impossible for organisers to verify it and they're probably not keen on even having people signing waivers etc... We'll have to roll with what we have :)
Wow, that all sounds amazing! We didn’t get to Fitzroy island but it’s meant to be great for snorkelling too! Far North Queensland is incredible. We are looking forward to taking the kids next time when they are stronger swimmers but it was nice to just worry about ourselves on that trip ;) have a fantastic time!

I went 2 summers ago and they were not required at that time.
Corals already died it seems
No colourfull corals anymore
No, not a lot of colour 😢
nice video, but sad that we don't see much color of the corals... seems like all are dead/bleached.
It’s sad to thing how it will look in 10 years or 20. Still incredible but not what we thought it would be like.
Dead and bleached corals and not many fish. Sad to see...
How much does it cost to go by boat?
Around $150AU I think for the day trip, which includes all the snorkeling gear, glass bottom boat ride and lunch.
I am an non swimmer. Can i still snorkel with life jacket?
The life jackets keep you on top of the water so you will definitely be able to enjoy the experience still
Dead reef
Waste of money, there's no colour in the reef, humans have destroyed this once beautiful place. Sigh
I’ve went recently and everything is back to normal. In this video the coral does look bleached!
