Really gives the song much credit if you can hint at a character's story through the lyrics. One of the best songs to come out of the DMC albums, to be sure.

because 5 took so much time after the 4th game they put a good recap in the game detailing what happened before it.
Now this is my type of music, it’s a really good theme while fighting enemies in DMC5. I also recommend checking out “Devil Trigger” Nero’s battle theme for DMC5
100% worth playing even if you haven't played the others.

The composer knew 'forsaken' is not a legit word, he just thought it sounds nice for the song.
Forsaken is a legit word, its in the english dictionary, has been since the 1800's. "forsakened" however is not a word.

It's in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, I'm not sure why people think it's not a word. The word is the past-participle of "forsake".
Even though I followed DMC5 heavy when it first came out, I only listened to this theme for the first time last month.
Amazing track.
First time on your channel, and I really like your devotion to try and break down music as well as the lyrics! And this is not just Vergil's Battle Theme (although it certainly used in game as his main theme), this is his Opus Magnum. To understand most of it you need to know his history, mostly from DMC3, but not limited to it. And yes, you can play just DMC5, it has "long-story-short" about first 4 installments, but DMC3 is one of the best games in terms of story that have ever been released to the world, you'd miss a lot if you don't play it yourself. Anyway, great reaction!
At 8:55 you are correct about the corruption part because vergil back on dmc 1 was defeated by Mundus and turned vergil into his pawn to defeat Dante and the Phoenix part is where vergil was freed from the chains of corruption from Mundus thanks to Dante which is now seen on dmc 5.
Also could be when his mother died, he's still Vergil and wants power but that quest for power is put above everything. His life being tainted by his mother's death and his endless quest for power no matter the consequences
You can play just 5, because in the menu it has an option that quickly explains the past events.
But I suggest you play at least 3, 4 and then 5.
The story's chronological order is: 3, 1, 2, 4, 5.
Btw, don't play 2.

Most people who hate the reboot didn't play it. I get it, they pissed off the player base with the hair color etc.
But the gameplay itself was INCREDIBLE.

Important detail, the game basically has an in-game style system that measures how stylish you are by killing enemies. The great thing is that the music is in line with it so it is possible that while you are learning to play you only listen to the "initial or perhaps less frantic parts". If you listen to Devil Trigger it would be cool if you later compare it with the dynamic version of it, since literal A (the ranges are D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS) is a part that is literally telling you do a little more and it reaches S. I have written this with the translator so if you see any strange expression, that's why. Good reaction ;)
I say you should definitely play at least DMC 3, 4, and 5 in that order
You can drop in 5. The only hints at older story are subtle or directly explained for context.

Forsook implies ownership of the act, as to say you are the one forsaking thing, forsakened is to imply being the one forsaken within the past tense. Which would be applicable if one was forsaken at one point, but lost the status in some way. Because English is a hot mess of rules that are ever changing and borrowed from other languages.

@@mia3033 There's the fact that Vergil talks like an old man, as the only thing he consumes is old poetry, and the song is about him.
I appreciate the reaction! I dropped into DMC 5 without playing any of the others, and it made me want to play the previous titles. Give it a shot if you're interested.

NEW WORD OF POWER LEARNED
The lyric "Constellations of Blood Pirouette" is a demonic lyric as Vergil is part demon and human so it is twisted and evil.
This song and a few of Amaranthe’s songs I surprisingly liked.
I'm not sure if someone commented this already nor if Casey Edwards ever mentioned it, but i hear clear references of two 2 other great songs in "Bury the Light". One is the two different voices singing in the more mellow part which reminds me of DMC3's "Devils never Cry" and the other thing, which is easier to spot, would be the "bury the light deep within part" right at the end, which sounds very similar to Nero's "Devil Trigger". And i guess i don't have to tell why that is :D Just ma two cents on the topic!

At 7:54 of the song it’s supposed to match a similar tone to devil trigger as that song is Nero’s theme as they stated Nero is Vergil’s son
Yes, the actual lyrics say forsaken. 'Forsakened' as far as I know isn't a word.
They show a showcase of the whole story between Dante and vergil in dmc5 for those who don’t know what happened to the rest of the games
If you want to listen to Bury the Light in-game, you'll have to buy the Vergil DLC which is recommended to play only after you finish the game once.
As for DMC5, you could go into it as a first-timer, although it would be recommended that you play the previous installations first, but they're not absolutely necessary. You just won't have the same reactions to certain revelations and such.
As for the Deluxe Edition versus the base game, you don't need the Deluxe Edition. It gives you a few more extra goodies, but I'd say it's more for the experienced players rather than new players, although it does contain some stuff like more battle themes from previous games or rank announcers.
You can play dmc5 because they have a recap of the story you can watch, but there's a lot of story to uncover if you play the previous games (except for 2 go watch a video instead), and the extended content is pretty nice too
Playing 5 with no prior experience is absolutely recommended. Easily one of the best games released in 2019.

i reccomend playing DMC4 first because DMC 5 takes place right after the events of 4 (if im wrong please can somebody correct me)

You can play dmc 5 standalone but I recommend starting with dmc 3 then playing 1, 2, 4, and then 5 for full experience

The anthology doesnt matter. You would be able to make sense of it without playing the rest. The most fun ones happen to be Devil May Cry 3 and 5. Which evidently tell the whole story. I am amazed on that this somg is played whenever you fight anything, it could be one small enemy. Definitely a great review by you to take lyrics and the sounds of each instrument.

Played 5 first, got the gist of it. Then played all of the other parts. I'd say you don't really have to play all others. You get the gist of all of them somehow in 5. Still playing all will be the best

would recommend starting on DMC3, if you want to you can do the first game but don't play DMC2. i've seen mentions here in the comments of a recap in 5 but it's very barebones
I highly recommend playing though the games but play1,3,4,5 skip 2 it’s awful and doesn’t really impact the story. (also 1 is a little difficult to navigate so I also recommend looking up a walkthrough if you get stuck) if you plan on doing play through streams, like you did for that one game, I wouldn’t mind seeing you play through the DMC series.
Try to react to Devil Trigger or Devils Never Cry
The chronological order is 3,1,2,4,5 but I recommend you skip 2 because it is barely playable
Please don't jump into 5, I would rather you go from 1, 3, 4, then 5. You can play 2 as I don't mind the game personally but it is not a good game at all. Lastly, be warn that 3 is by far the hardest out of the 5

I don’t think so. It’s the same on most of them, and the big one on here a lot of people are complaining about is “forsakened” but that is 100% what he says in the song, Edwards says he knows it’s not a real word, it just sounded cool and he didn’t care.
