No good man releases skunks back into the wild after catching them. Take them out every chance you get. As a result you will see more small game birds in your area. Plus they carry diseases such as rabies and distemper.
I work for an animal control company use jelly rolled in tin foil they love sweets. The tin foil is so they have to go all the way in and work for the jelly as well as an easy clean up of the trap
Check your county or state statistics most skunks in many states are rabid. Skunks have the capability with rabies that most animals don't they're able to survive with the disease long enough to even breed a new litter all while not showing any symptoms. For the same reason that may also be illegal to release a live skunk Be aware of the city and state people who deal with these skunks a daily basis normally have special injections to prevent them from getting the disease
This is a great point, it is legal to trap and release skunks where I live. I know many who do not release. A guy I work with who also deals with skunks a lot has a 55 gallon drum, which attaches with a 4" hose to the muffler of his car. He places the drum over the trap and lets his car run for a few minutes. It is very humane, and the skunks never spray. The farm I grew up near would trap skunks, the farmer would just drop the traps into an irrigation ditch or canal with a rope tied to it. I generally just let them out, let them get about 20 - 30 yards away, then shoot them.
I have shot live trapped skunks in the lungs with a pellet gun before. Just to let them die slowly and not spray before dying. Seems to work most of the time.
All have a heart traps are junk. I recommend you going to a trapping convention in your area and buying some different live traps. They have a lot more to offer there. Much better designs. You will be much happier with them. Please don't release skunks back into the wild after you catch them. They are useless, and need to be dispatched when catching them.
Thanks for the video. I’ve been hand trapping them.
I don't know why I'm watching this because I currently have no pest issues but enjoyed the video! Thanks
Very helpful and encouraging..
I think I have one. I haven't seen it, but my lawn has hole about 4 inches round dug up on it. I will try your way and see what I get
Amazing! Thank you so much!
Useful information. Thanks.
You are a better man than I am if you catch and release skunks. I have a .17 that I use for that.

Should you use raw or cooked chicken as bait?
I've always used cooked.

hmm...have you tried using a black cat with a white stripe painted on its back as bait?
R.I.P. PB&J
It's illegal to release skunks in most states and some require a certification to trap animals
I ate a skank once, it tasted like skunk.

Gassing animals with a modern car is in no way humane (I've done it and won't do it again).
