      I've known a lot of this because my daughter was born with just under 1/2 an immune system. Her
      Pediatrician would not refer her to an immunologist, saying that she was the wrong gender for such a thing. She had infections nearly constantly, and it was up to me to keep her alive. At the age of 12 months she finally fit into newborn sizes.
      I got her into a University at 13 months of age, after I had spent many hours combing through medical libraries, photocopying much data. She ended up with the top pediatric immunologist in the U.S. He questioned me thoroughly, and I became known as "the mom who kept her baby alive".
      So much of what Dr. John says. I know to be right. But I've also learned at lot here also. I didn't know about vitamin D. I had heard of using zinc, but it wasn't given the kind of weight that Dr. John gives it.
      Personally, I use his recommendations and it's (so far) the first winter I've been virus free - in over 60 years of living!

He had to be tested before he got on the plane to HK and will be tested two more times during his stay in the hotel. And EACH of those times, he has to have two swabs taken - one nasal and one oral. During this time, he has to measure his temperature twice daily and keep a diary to hand in before leaving. Obviously he has to stay in the hotel room, but the door also starts beeping if keft open and someone comes up to check.

Our hospital rates are starting to fall and our vaccination levels are the highest in the world (of any major country). Our strategy is working and at this rate we should will be opening up the economy next month and end all restrictions by the end of March (when we should have full vaccination of everyone over 50 and vulnerable, which accounts for 97% of deaths)

    Could it be that the new variant results in greater incidents of symptoms because people receive a higher viral load due to it being more transmissible?

    • @leifhall2289
      @leifhall2289 4 года назад +3

      That's been my thinking too Patricia, since it's more transmissible you would expect a higher viral load and we know from before that a higher viral load means more severe illness.

    • @topbizniz
      @topbizniz 4 года назад +4

      This isnt an accurate conclusion. Its difficult to explain so I will try my best.
      Breaking down your sentence into 2 parts
      1."Could it be that the new variant results in greater incidents of symptoms..." This hasnt been proven. Higher rates of transmission do not directly preclude higher rates of symptoms. You can have SARS-COV-2 and not show symptoms. Many young people wont show symptoms but would test positive if they had the virus, and took a test. It largely depends on who you are testing. More tests = more cases so this may be a false indicator.
      2."because people receive a higher viral load due to it being more transmissible?". Transmission depends on how many people can carry it and pass it on, how it is transmitted and how many can catch it. Covid is passing in 2 ways. Small airborn particles and larger droplets that land on surfaces. You are more likely to receive a larger infectious dose from droplets as they are larger. This part depends on how people come into contact with the virus.
      When you put your sentence together I dont think you can make those conclusion jumps based on whats currently known. But i think there is some overlap. Its possible that Covid is passing more from droplets v airborn particles in which case more transmission will result in a higher chance of developing symptoms due to starting with larger infectious doses. I havent seen any studies on the percentages of the transmission types and im not sure its something they can accurately prove either way. Hope that helps a little.

    • @FitChickGlows
      @FitChickGlows 4 года назад

      I’m sure it causes a much higher viral load since it’s ability for the spike protein’s of the virus to attach to our Ace2 receptors is much much higher as the spike protein’s of these new variants are built to attach much better. So there will be more viral load and thus more transmissible and thus also more virulent (worse illness).

    • @leifhall2289
      @leifhall2289 4 года назад +1

      @@topbizniz Thank you for your elaborate answer to Patricias question. I believe that most transmission is via aerosol spread. For droplets to transmit I need to touch a surface and then put my fingers in my mouth, I don't do that and we all know not to do that. We do know however that higher viral loads leads to more severe illness so that would explain why the more "sticky" spikes would be more deadly.

    • @prndownload

    • @xponen
      @xponen 4 года назад +2

      you have to look at what is a "vaccine-reaction?"... which is an immune reaction, like allergy, fever, or autoimmune disease. Now look at what it (vaccine) contain? it contain SARS-Cov-2 material... hence you narrow down the possible reaction further to Covid-19 disease. Now look at Covid-19 disease, which one is caused by immune reaction (eg: fever) and which one is by the virus infection (eg: tissue damage)...

    Being more infectious, the new variant is more likely to infect with a higher viral loading. This is more likely to be symptomatic and ultimately more deadly as high loading always has a head start on the immune system.

    • @prndownload
      @prndownload 4 года назад +1

      Not correct in my opinion. This mutation does not differ in a way which would make it more transmissible or more deadly. What it does do though is escape an immune response to a previous variant which then causes more symptoms and more death. The increase in available population to re-infect and cause symptoms causes more people to test positive and makes it appear as though it's more transmissible. For some reason they are still acting like they don't know how this virus works and misinterpreting the data.

      It's bad and it's good. It might convince the last part of the community that covid-19 is not a hoax. It's just sad that a lot more people need to die before people behave, or before the government enforces behavior.

    • @bloepje
      @bloepje 4 года назад

      @@prndownload Actually: the mutation has caused a bigger shedding of the virus. The nose swabs need a lot less cycles to detect it. So it's certainly more transmissible because the nose swab shows a bigger infestation, that also means more shedding.
      So whatever the change is, it's making a faster rampage in the body, or the cells themselves are producing more.
      And yes, I cannot see the hospital figures follow the drop in tested infected in the Netherlands.
      I do love the theory. Don't stop with that. More minds with more serious theories that needs to be tested.

      @@bloepje Does that mean that the virus entered the respiratory system, caused few symptoms, entered the bloodstream, and went through the intestinal lining to finally latch onto receptors? Or was the virus ingested and passed through the stomach before reaching the intestines? I suppose a third possibility would be contracting the virus through an open wound and transferring it through the bloodstream to the intestines. If it was the first option, it would be interesting to see what prevented the virus from causing pulmonary symptoms, only to show up in the intestines. It's a crazy virus; it seems to do what it wants.
