Hey Scotty, an idea for future video, can you give us a behind the scenes look at how you prep for a trip, your decision making as to what gear you might take and your thinking behind where you travel too i.e. is it point and shoot on the map or do you put a lot of thought into where you want to go?
Good idea. I'll have to do one of those. As for scouting locations, I put a hell of a lot of thought into it.
Yeah I second the motion mate! Obviously not showing us your actual locations, but run through your process for choosing with a dummy location.

I'm so glad I can't sleep in a hammock! Back problem. But I eat in my tent, watching you right now in my tent, the fan is running, Boom stick by my side in my tent! Been sleeping on the ground for years now, haven't slept in a dwelling in five years! PS , get the chair , I have two Helinox chairs and they are awesome!
Wow, I finally found a new one.🙂I think I've now watched all of them. I'm an old age pensioner in the UK, and I'm loving your stuff. Unlike a lot of creators on youtube you seem a genuinely nice man. So thanks for that. I never realised there was such variety in Australia. We tend to see pictures of red sand, dry deserts, etc. Thanks again, and more power to you.
Try "Simon a bloke in the woods" if you haven't already he's another genuinely nice creator from Suffolk I think (excuse my terrible geography im an Aussie)

Loving this new content with the combinations of surfing, spearing and camping. From one spearo to another, try and calm your heart rate right down before you dive and turn slow in the water. Sudden movement scares fish where as if you turn slow they’ll come in to check you out. Sick content
Sit still and let the fish do the work 👌
Thanks for the tips mate. I'm still a newbie to spearfishing, so lot's to learn. I'm definitely way too frantic underwater. Like you said, I need to slow things down. Thanks for the advice.

@@ScottysGoneWalkabout I'd also suggest some further gear upgrades - gloves to keep you warm/so you don't cut yourself grabbing bottom/crays. A weight belt could help settle you on the bottom. Diving can be risky so make sure you're adequately rested after a surf.

As usual. I just love to sit back and just watch your vlogs. I have an American husband who has never been out of America. He and alot of his friends see Australia as a dry open dessert. Through your vlogs I'm able to show him that we have a diverse range of countryside down here. He's slowly likening the idea of moving down here to be with me. The one thing he's surprised about is that you hardly come across snakes and spiders on your travels. However you do show the wild life when it does pop up. Thanks for sharing your camp outs and keep them coming. Love the vlogs.

Absolute favourite stretch of the Coast. From the Coastal nooks to the ranges out West. The spearing/fishing is much better around the headland to the North. Some other great waves in the area which you probably know. There really isn't anybody doing hike/spear/surf combined videos on the South Coast. I enjoy all your videos but particularly enjoyed this because it's something I do with my friends often. Thanks!

Dude that one was right up my ally. The glassy waves, the dolphins, the palms.
Oh and the leeches! They are everywhere, all up the north coast too, just relentless.
What a trip mate. From the opening scene I thought, hmm, we've done this walk, and sure enough.. shame about the silt from all the runoff, snorkeling has been very hit and miss for 50km either side of there for ages now with so much rain. Best super early in the morning when we'd rather be buried in that great quilt. The leeches took me right back to high school hikes, I'm not sure I'd have hung around but the net looked brilliant and the dolphins made it worth the pain eh. Might have to replicate this with the young fella but maybe next dry spell!

The strap is just a safety backup to stop it falling off.
So you're likely gonna get imprints.
I get them bad because my face is a bit chubbier but I now use a Full Face

Great vid Scotty it sure is a beautiful area I've spent a lot of time over the years on the South Coast staying with mates and camping mostly on my own ,and you are right when you say the Spotted Gum forests are magic with those soaring Gums and the Palms and Cycads awesome .

Another good video Scotty. Beautiful scenery as usual. The leeches reminded me of when I was a kid and my sister, brothers and I were walking in the Waratah National Park and when we crossed a creek a leech reached up and attached to my sister's ankle. Because it was long then shrank once it attached we all thought it was a snake going into our sister. I think I was about 8 and she was 4 or 5. All four of us kids started screaming and a heap of men came running. They assured us it was only a leech and not harmful, one got a match and burnt it so it would release.

Hey Scotty great video. Idea for you. Why don't you get an 11 foot sup and strap your gear on and do a paddle around the coastline. You could offload and use the sup for a surf. I'm up in Noosa and have an 11'2 fanatic fly. Planning on heading up the river into the Everglades Sup camping. Love your videos very inspiring!
