Hello guys.. Your video just popped up and it’s interesting as we’ve just been to Germany to collect a van, got export plates and will be importing it (hopefully😳) into Spain where we’re residents.. You guys got a good price on the export plates btw😉.. Sorry to see the issue you had right away but glad you got all sorted and hopefully all good from now😅.. Anyways, just wondering what your plans are with the van afterwards? You mentioned you’ll be legalising it as a camper/motorhome in Germany, can you do that on export plates? And then what? Can the van be changed so it stays in Germany before the end of the six months? Or does the van need to be gone out of the country after the six months.. (hope that made sense!) Thanks guys, we look forward to following your adventures😊

Hey there! Yeh we thought it was a good deal with the export plates! Well we are stepping into the unknown a little. We’ve read one persons blog from Italy who changed his van over to a motorhome on export plates. We are currently in contact with the registration office to know 100%. We have to have the van imported into another country after 6 months. I think you might be able to extend them but I’m not sure. We are planning to import to a country in Eastern Europe (all going well)

Some adventure. Cars break down, bad luck, sounds like it was ultimately not too much trouble, could have went a lot worse. Kudos to the guys helping you out, I know it's the law, but some don't even sell to foreigners, try to add disclaimers invalidating the warranty, or may try taking advantage of people not speaking German. Good luck.

Thank you for the useful information. I've been searching info like this as non EU citizen (Korean) One question. Export plate means you are going to export the van to your original country(Au)? Or Andorra as before?
Hope you have a great journey.

How, one question please...how did you make payment, did you pay by your bank outside Germany? I was wondering how payment works, as you know, you are in Germany, your bank is back home, how to trigger that payment from Germany? Cheers and good luck with van transformation...

We have a European bank account so we had no issues but when we bought our first van in Europe we did not so you just transfer the money and it takes a few days to go through. Same process regardless of your banks origin might just take longer
