I was born in 93' but i have all my mom and dads records. Dad played in a hair metal/glam metal cover band that toured in new england a little and I grew up loving this genre as much as you guys in it! They're collection they've donated to me for my first home included around 400 records total. (granted there are some that are beat and hardly playable that I'm slowly replacing) it's quite the collection! You are all so lucky to have grown up in this era! 🤘🏼
What a great band. Saw them when they first came out. Believed they opened up for def leopard on hysteria tour and I was like who is this band. Been a huge fan ever since. Saw them perform operation mindcrime cd at house of blues quiet a few years back. Wish Geoff and Chris would rejoin band and tour again.
Rage for order is a far better album, and is REAL prog compared to this metal opera. I like Mindcrime, think it's a great album, but I get tired of it being treated like QR's best example of prog. It is NOT, RFO is far more prog than MC is.
+暗黒騎士 Ankokukishi - Rage for Order is "far better???" NO WAY!!! That is your opinion, and yours alone!! I think way more people would think that Operation Mindfrime is, without a doubt, QR's best album BY FAR!! I agree you and I will have to agree to disagree!! I'll tell you what...they're BOTH great albums!!!
I agree with you 100%. I bought this when it came out, i listened to it the first time really high, i couldnt sleep that night, thought someone was gonna snuff me. Then i saw the concert live on acid, that effed up my mind even more lmao
Thank you for learning this song and posting it. You're right on the money. I'm in New York City right now and we're covering this song, so I'm sitting here playing along with you. Getting all the little nuances in thank you.
Came back here again to practice the song. I can't believe how easy it is to see your finger positions. Just awesome to be able to cover this song so closely. Now if I can just get it all memorized and play it fluidly. Could take the rest of my life if ever. Why I love guitar so much. It's so f'n hard (former drummer, was way easier for me). The first verse alone has 9 chords (a few shapes repeat). Just love the voicing of them.
yes, the chords here are really beautiful, the first era of Queensryche, 'til promised land, was awesome. if you practice often your guitar with different songs, it will become more and more easy to memorize songs, believe me. Have fun !
@@evilmerguez Thanks. Yes its getting easier every time I revisited it. I figured out a cheater chord for that 5 fret stretch that has the index on the A string first fret. I use 1st fret on B and open high E. I just can't reach that 5 fret version.
it's the point, find a way to play things on your own. I used to play like this, but i don't know if it was originaly played like this as i didn't have any tab.
@@evilmerguez I looked at the official video of this song and you can kind of see he is playing it like you. I just struggle with the stretch but maybe just practice will help. As you said, so many ways to play things on this awesome instrument. It's why I like it so much. My guitar instructor once said "try all the different ways and pick the one that sounds the best". Best advice ever.
Wow, that was awesome man! Just discovered this band yesterday and I can’t stop listening to this album. This song specifically is my favourite for Mindcrime... working on some Satriani tunes at the moment... might have to throw this one in there now! I just love that riff!
Very nice job. Could you do some RATT covers? I am left handed and my Custom Shop Charvel xill come from my luthier in one month although i have one yet. Will have a look at your video too play this Queensyche song.
If you ever cover this song with twin guitars it is vital to use the same model of guitars. This is because an Ibanez fretting is very different to say my Gibson superstrat fretting. The frets are in different positions even though bot are tuned the same. Just lying the guitars down side by side shows the Gibson fret ending on the 24th fret in a different place to the Ibanez. This means they can never be in tune with each other or as close as say two Ibanez or say two Carvels ect.
Goddamn that's a hell of a stretch and I'm using a Les Paul. i don't even know if I could do it on a 25.5. Very cool is that a Charvel? Also thanks brother, I've never been able to figure that intro out quite right but you nailed it
Wow. It only took me almost 7 years to come across this video. Excellent playing and you simply nailed it. Can you talk about the rig you were playing through on this video? The tone is right on point - sounds exactly like Queensryche tone.
Hello, i only used a Yamaha THR10X as said in the video description. RUclips's algorithm hides some stuff we could be happy to discover, you can find some others Queensryche covers on my channel, cheers
WTF, I just commented on a cpl of your w.a.s.p. vids. dude our tastes seem identical. You got me with queensryche, I just subscribed. hopefully you might do suite sister marry, I will remember and dream in infrared. I so struggle with pre empire queensryche. but you've inspired me to take another crack at it. cheers
So good, well played. Makes me wonder if this band could ever put their differences aside and kick arse once more with the original lineup. That said, will gigs even happen again? These times are so fucked right now
This band used to be real good. But after the fight with Tate and this new singer, the band kind of lost there saoul. And lately, I saw a video of Tate with his new band and clearly this guy is finish. Completely lost his great voice and all we have left is memories of wath this great band used to be. Sad.
I disagree. Todd la Torrie is good Geoff Tate lost his mind when he spit On Michael Wilton . Eddie Jackson And Scott rockenfield. I am glad Geoff Tate is gone.
@@evilmerguez Good cover, the song has a great solo, took me a long time to master it,. It would be nice to go to split-screen and show the solo and rhythm parts together, just a suggestion.
evilmerguez Yes it can be done, I think it goes something like 8889 but it doesn't sound AS nice as having the high B ringing out. I can do it, but its pretty much the absolute limit of my stretch, makes me sad but I guess I'll have to push through the pain and find a way to transition to it faster over time. Just making do with what hands I got lol
the guitar is so damn intricate in this song man that part with where Geoff sings "she never was real" that shit hurts the fingers and brain.... and pride 😂😐
Man I went to tabs to learn this song and both were wrong. Songster was a little better. Then I saw this video. Arg. Looks like this is the winner. It's hard work learning a song wrong twice. Then a third time is a charm (this video). That chord with index finger on the A string first fret is quite a stretch but that's the one for sure.
Great cover and lesson ... as close as it gets. And I see there are the usual 15 or so dummies with the down votes who wouldn't know excellent playing if it smacked them in the forehead.
The solo sounds great, but the original track is too loud. Can you upload again with the original track lower so we can hear your fantastic guitar playing?
+evilmerguez - Dude...I love your playing! You showed us how to play this song, and everything you need to do. I appreciate you posting this!! Please post more! You are, without a doubt, an excellent guitarist!
That whole cd gives me goosebumps.
It's a hell of a record. been listening to it since the early 90's, wish I coulda seen the tour my buddy did though
Every single song. That is very rare.

Me too wonder why
That album should be in a museum....its genius
A master piece Tate and Degarmo no one can top their talent. Operation Mindcrime
Awesome ,Mindcrime is one of the greatest albums, cds of all time in my opinion.I'm gonna learn this or die trying.

Beautiful Charvel/ Beautiful playing
Both guitar players for Queensryche....unbelievable....and you did a helluva job on this song.
Wow, 6 years before running across this video. Best cover I have heard of the song. Amazing job

It's the original track.
Dude can you help me out, when he is playing that open D coming from the C, is open A and D or just the D
Sorry, i can't remember how i used to play this. Can't you see what you want even when using the slower motion tool?
*KILLER*
Those chords

Amazing job...on the intro, between the power chords, do you hit an open D string?
it seems to be that..... sorry, it was a long time ago.
where did you get the backing track
It's the original song
You have any tabs for this?
Wow nice cover, I have so much trouble with that 1355 chord though.... why the hell did I have to be born with small hands :(
Thanks, i agree, this chords still hurts me (forever i think), maybe you can try to play it on the lower string (6th fret)

Airtrooper719 XBL if you keep telling yourself you have trouble with it then you always will
And the chord can be moved to the low e string so it would be 6 8 10 9
Or you can keep the top 3 notes and mkve the bass note to the 6th frret e string instead of stretching all the way from the first fret
