Thanks!!!! I got this to replace my Radio Shack handled I got back in 1994. My police is encrypted, but I can still listen to 46.100 and 46.120 fire department. I only have those two channels in bank 1 scanning, but 6 and 7 are on the top line, not blinking like "1" is.
I just found about this radio, i do prefer a separate squelch and volume nobs like all the RadioShack, Whistler, grecom, etc but seeing some videos on the bc75xlt and bc125, this scanner is the best between both scanners, it's worth trying out. Thanks for your informal video!
Are you sure? In the video, you say this has a different body style and key layout. Doing an A/B photo comparison, the key layout is the same. The speaker grill looks different, and the button colors are different. Also, the previous version advertises 300 channels, while this one boasts 500. I assume the additional 200 channels is the main difference. The keypad layout is identical (look for yourself).
Haven't owned a scanner since the late '80s and I bought a Realistic brand from radio shack. That thing worked like a champ! How do I know if my local police and EMS broadcast digitally or analog? I found the frequencies online but want to make sure I buy the right kind of scanner... Thanks in advance for all the replies and help
Nice video, very easy to understand. However, I get nothing on my husband's scanner. Absolutely nothing on search or scan. I've watched this video numerous times, changed squelch.
Ive had mine for 2 years and have never heard a thing. I live on a street with tons of police and ems but get nothing. Turn it on every once in a while with some hope but it never works.
So when the radio is in search or scan mode. To stop this mode or leave this mode just tap the HOLD button. This allows you to scroll manually through the frequencies; (Is this correct or am I mistaken)? When you're in HOLD mode, & you're manually changing the frequencies using the volume dial, is the radio still scanning or searching in the background or does it stop search or scan altogether the moment you press HOLD? My other question is What is delay for? I think it appears on the screen as DLY. What is DLY used for & what is it's optimum or default setting? Can you also explain Close Call settings. What is it? How is it used?
How do I get rid of unwanted noise when scanning I’ve got my two channels on the bank one and then every 15 seconds it goes to bank three I haven’t set up bank three at all and it’s just like static but it’s not even a full stat it’s like squelch
When you're in scanning mode, pressing on the numbers will show/hide the bank number you want to scan. 1-9 = Enable/disable Bank 1-9 0 = Enable/disable Bank 10

@mudflap 98 No, a digital scanner is required for the Viper system, You can find digital scanners here: bearcatwarehouse.com/collections/uniden-police-scanners?gf_39450=Digital+P25+Phase+II

I assume it's because I must be closer to the airport (It's about 6 miles from me). But I listen to the same frequency online (liveatc.net) and can hear everything perfectly. Scanners receive "real" radio frequencies and are therefore subject to structural interference and range limitations. Kind of like satellite radio stops in tunnels. Airplanes are, for the most part, well above structures and thus have a greater radio range. LiveATC is "processed" for use on computers, however I honestly don't know how they do it.
