- I know you can't give an unbiased review of your own paydirt. So this is more me showing off and give you a promise of what is in my bags of gold and gem paydirt. Each bag contains about 1/2 lbs of unsearched gravels from 3 of my best claims. In with those gravels I have included a pinch of gold, a piece of sterling silver, and a variety of gemstones, including Garnets. paridot, sapphire, topaz, apatite, quartz crystal and at least one diamond. Also you may find opal, agate, fluorite and a variety of other gems I may have on hand while mixing.
This paydirt bag is designed to give the panner an idea of what to look for in his or her gold pan, as each and every one of these can be found in the river while gold panning. It give good practice and experience panning and identifying gems. The paydirt bag is a challenge to recover all the different treasure included in the mix.

@@Danhurd It's always a very friendly time while watching your videos, while also teaching lots about the processes that go into mining, extracting, and refining of gold. Finding videos so helpful yet so entertaining is difficult yet it clearly is natural and fun for you too. My friend recently asked me about any tips for panning for gold (I've never been able to before so I had no tips) so I sent him to this channel and he gave me this same feedback "Very friendly and helpful". You earned his subscription with the first video he watched. As for anything I would recommend is in need of improvement, I have nothing, myself along with thousands of other people love watching your videos.

I like to use a good surfactant in my panning water such as liquid "Jet-Dry", breaks the surface tension to keep the candy from floating. A drop or two of Dawn dishsoap does the same thing but tends to foam more than Jet-Dry.
Especially if you're dealing with fine flower gold.
I can see that if a person has never looked for gold like myself , this would be a wise investment so you can at least learn a little about panning gold . Thanks for the video's .

I would start out panning 50 pounds of play sand from a Home Depot-type establishment. Pan it most of the way down with a big pan like a Garett Super Sluice. Save all those concentrates, and then finish it all the way down to the iron sands with a little finishing pan. By the time you've gone through 50 pounds, you'll be a competent panner -- and it'll cost you like, what, $8 USD?
After that I suppose one would need to acquaint oneself with classifying and such, but you will have learned to do the hard stuff -- like separating material with relatively close specific gravities, which will help one with separating fine gold from black sands .
At that point, bags of paydirt will be easy.

@@markpennington9008 - You _might_ even find a few tiny flakes of gold while you're at it, depending on where your local establishment gets its sand.
Sand is interesting to look at with your jewelers loupe also. Different minor components depending on where it's from. Some has more olivine, some more garnets, zircon, etc. And different ratios of magnetite and ilmenite and hematite.
It was a fun week, great idea for some winter content! I appreciated the shot of all the results from each at the end, nice touch!

Alrighty now. Dan this was a great series of videos. My wife and I loved them. However when you panned your paydirt you brought up a new question. How can you tell if what you found is a piece of gold covered with mercury or a piece of silver? Also what is the difference between silver and platinum? Keep up the great fun!

I got this bag as well as a bag of gemstones AND a bit later, Dan's $150 bag of gold. Am very pleased with all the items, lots of gemstones in both this bag as well as the gemstones only bag. Lots of fun to practice panning on as I'm trying to build my skills at panning. The $150 bag was amazing - good "boogers" in it that jump out when I classified it down with a finer sifter. Lots of small garnets in the bag too - I'm guessing a result of where the dirt came from (Dan?)
LISTEN to Dan about the diamond... I'm fairly sure mine got away. I did see it once, and SHOULD have taken it out then but didn't. Safety pan till you find it for sure.. GRIN..

as paydirts are novelty items I sure appreciate this paydirt; as it gives gems and relics that give more adventure to the dirt rather than mega paydirt companies such as Gold’N which has went from novelty to guaranteed money loss or a hopeless gamble if your the 1 in 1,000 that gets the lotto nugget.
I think it's pretty lit that you use an unsearched base material,then load it, that's pretty epic for paydirt.

My friends kids are really getting into geology. I was thinking of finding a small bag of such mixed materials for them to explore through. They are like 7 or 8 years old.
I may be purchasing a bag for them to share.. being they are twins.. lol.
Just as a novelty thing and help them continue to learn and identify gems, stones and crystals ..it will be exciting to see them try to find those treasures they lay in wait for them

I think I will invest in this come spring as a learning aide. I don't have a pan up here in Nunavut. But when I come back south I want to try panning and this seems like a good way to practice panning.

Great paydirt week Dan 👍, though I'm a little suprised you didn't bother to tweeze out all the natural placer river garnet from your paydirt and add that to a pile to show exactly what you mean about what can be found in your gold pan afield...that may be time consuming for all those little mineral wonders but still fun to do...and a glass vial looks great full of placer garnets. Great video and fun to watch. I still think a full gemstone and mineral I.D. kit showing what you could typically find in B.C. fron the pyrites to copper and so forth in it's raw forms would be a nice logical next step in your goodies on your website...and would love to see a video on that in the near future...And until your next video...Bye 👋.
