My son's autistic and he too is a cat daddy as I like to call it . His son is Apollo and the cats and dogs seem to have quite a positive and engaging affect for those on the spectrum . I don't think he would have progressed as much as he did without cats.
Animals are the best!! They pretty much give unconditional love, they don't judge, they accept you the way you are. I had a cat, Bonnie. She was born in my house so I had her since she came into the world. Long story short, I went through quite a few years of bad times. She was my confidante, my support, my comforter, the keeper of my deepest and darkest secrets. I don't know if I would've made it without her. I'm sure Apollo will play a very important role in your son's life. Possibly more so than most humans. Best wishes for you, your son and Apollo!

I have a 3 year old named Viva, and she comes running when I call her. She listens to me when I say things to her. So I feel blessed to have one of God's precious little princess' in my life. Viva, actually is more like a dog than a cat. My dog (RIP) was more like a cat.
Cherish every moment. I have a 18 yr old male cat and he is my world. I know that one day he will be gone so everyday I cry a little just of the thought of my boy not being there in my life. So I give him extra hugs and kisses and tell him how important he is to me everyday.

I’m just like this guy in so many ways. I was diagnosed with Aspergers back in 2012, and my pets are also my best friends. I recently got a little Tortoiseshell, named Bean, to be a playmate for my older cat, a flame point Siamese named Teddy, since he was always by himself at home while I was at work. Nothing feels greater than the love of a pet.
