did this mod a few years ago with my G25 shifter, it really is a game changer. Shifts are so much more satisfying
It really does make the shifts more satisfying!!
Still using that same G25 today! About to throw an adapter on it so I can switch to a gt style rim

About a year ago I got the truebrake mod from AXC Sim, Its a linear potentiometer that replicates a load cell so the brake actually works like a brake pedal actually does in a real car by pressure instead of travel distance. I also bought their potentiometer replacements for the clutch and gas pedal they are a much better design than the crappy Logitech rotary potentiometers that will soon start reading erratically, All together its a night and day difference and worth researching if your not happy with the factory logitech pedals
About a month ago I bought the Truebrake mod and agree about the night and day difference it makes. Did you also move the OEM brake spring to the clutch and the OEM clutch spring to the gas pedal? (tossing the OEM gas pedal spring)

Sweet mod! I gotta do this to my shifter asap. Wouldn't it be nice if Logitech actually spent the time and the few pennies to make their shifter better so we, the consumers, didn't have to. The corner cutting from these big companies is ridiculous.
I don’t think most people would like the shifter to be that notchy, most people play for fun and don’t play sims so it’s just arcade racing stuff. I think that’s the reason why it’s not the best from factory. Maybe the new pro version is better and targeted towards more demanding users.
Yeah I have this shifter and it's cheap crap.
But it's also cheap to buy
Gave it a shot and was definitely worth it.
Good video and nice mods. I have used a lego connector peg filed to 5mm. It's perfect!
pedal mod is worth it if u plan to keep the rig, i swapped out the clutch spring with a $7 variable spring and swapped gas spring with the stock clutch spring. won't give u faster lap times, but makes feathering the gas alil more real. thanks 4 this vid

I just did this mod after your vid, I use the H-Pattern tactile mod, and the inner ring with rubber bands, as well as a taller, yet lighter shift knob.
Feels twice as good to use now.
But I didnt think I needed the headbolt/spring mod, and basically wasted my time by taking it apart.
But now I've just done it, and it really compliments the H Pattern mod well.
I made a 5.4mm wide by 5mm tall cylinder on my 3d printer.
Actually a half decent shifter now

If you guys are going to do it, add just 5-6mm of preload, more than that, it is impossible to make it stay in place, you use for a few races and the ball fell from the spring, I was trying with 8mm at first, now I'm usign 6mm and it is perfect
nice video. i’ve also preloaded the shifter resistance spring, and noticed it feels a lot better. i used a 3d printed spacer i made. i’m curious if there’s any springs out there that are the same dimensions just heavier?
Very nice. After the mod, the shifter is feeling a lot better. I will still replace it sometime in the future, but for now I'll keep using it

5mm was too rough imo

For anyone going to do this put a touch of grease/Vaseline on top of the spring to hold the ball bearing in place while reassembling it.
Got a shifter for Christmas only for it to be dead on arrival, opened it up to find that one of the wires had snapped. Did the mod anyways for practice and to see how it felt lol. My replacement arrives on Monday as they were almost a month out on shipping :/
That's a bummer to have it DOA luckily your getting a replacement.!
Not going to lie mine's went out in the middle of a race within two months of owning it, I smacked the right side of the base and been fine ever since 😂

Anyone struggling to find a piece to fit inside the spring, I spent hours tryna find something with enough decent size - head to give a decent preload, In the end I made one myself by shaving a wooden dowel into the shape and size I needed lol…also for any newer batches from Logitech the cable that you unplug is glued down to the plastic housing and it’s very tricky to free the cable without damaging it, again, be patient, oh and Incase anyone is wondering. It makes a huge difference🔥🔥. #TeamMod#FckkWarrenty
I have that exact same set of set screws from harbor freight lol. Def going to do this tonight. Wonder how this would be with the 3d printed magnet/gate mod

@@woe.num.1 I did not, I was more than happy with doing this mod. I did use some thick grease made for bicycle cranks in there which helped smoothed the overall feel which I would recommend using something similar or some thick silicone. From what I have seen those printed gate mods break really easily and the way I hammer on it I am sure it would be on borrowed time. If I found one cheap enough maybe it would be worth it, if you get one let me know!

Ive done this mod with machine screw, Works great however the potentiometer on mine spring out and I stuck t in upsie down and couldnt figure out for a bt why the gears wernt reading properly😆works great tho
What size was the screw you used if you remember?
Use a m3x10 and the head has to be for hex
does anyone know what size the silver screws on the very bottom of the shifter?
Sooo… Basically it’s DIY Difficulty rating would be right about on par with assembling your first AR15 stripped Lower Receiver, Lower parts kit, and Trigger Group assembly. Lol, Ya mostly need to just know exactly where and when to look out for possible flying springs and/or spring detents. Then, it’s a piece of cake! 🤣, 👊!!

For those who wants to try this mod, do it! But make sure to add some grease near the ball bearing for smoother movement and less "clacking" sound.

Carefully that plastic can broke for easy if it broke you need to buy new one shifter only. That my plastic are already broke.😢😢

Edit: oh i see there are two more screws holding it in place, i dont have a screwdriver skinny enough to fit down the crevace. :/
