The deeper I became engaged in issues related to Darfur, the more I realized that there is no way to understand the crisis in Darfur without understanding its historical, political and geographic contexts.
Rebuilding Hope (www.RebuildingHopeSudan.org) in many ways grew out of my first documentary film and book, Darfur Diaries (www.darfurdiaries.org). The deeper I became engaged in issues related to Darfur, the more I realized that there is no way to understand the crisis in Darfur without understanding its historical, political and geographic contexts-and these contexts very much include South Sudan.
In this segment, people from Darfur and South Sudan explore the connections between the two regions of Sudan, including how people of Darfur were used by the government in Khartoum against Southerners much the way that Janjaweed militia were later used against Darfuris.
    Jen Marlowe
This report is part of Pulitzer Center-sponsored project "South Sudan: Rebuilding Hope" (bit.ly/s2HQIu).

I agree with you Sudan needs to Go back to it's African roots Sudan is not an Arab country it's an African country historically , but at the same time we have to be aware of Zionist/Israel's influence and the second Sudanese war & Darfurian War are a product of Zionist Israel and Zionist America to destabilise Sudan from having strength in the Red sea

Yeah they're colonised mentally. I always thought arabs were like our brothers. But then i went to Egypt and now living in Denmark. Boths arabs there are very racist to black people even if they're muslims. In Denmark especially I've been victim to racism from arabs but no white Dane ever said a racist word to me and I've lived there for 18 years.

Northern Sudanese are black, Many look like African Americans more then any other Africans, But Arab culture makes them think they are not connected to Africa or "Blackness", its called an Identity crisis, and I am Northern Sudanese BTW

@@emmanuelaneri6683 Your correct emmanuel, Northern Sudanese are black and look it (many like African Americans) they are the Descendants of the Kushites (Tirhaqa, Candace Queen Amanirenas etc..) but because they speak Arabic have imaginary Arab lineages & are lighter skinned then the rest of Sudan they think they are different, They suffer an Identity crisis, in their Minds being Muslim is being an Arab which is ignorant, Yes South Sudanese (& Darfurians) had rightful frustration about the overrepresentation of Northerners in Government & Neglect of the South,Darfur & Nuba mountains, but the wars in South Sudan and Darfur was cause by Zionist and Americans to divide Sudan , they funded SPLA & zionist Jews in America created Jews for Darfur a lobby Group to support war in Darfur, They act like humanitarians But israel was a close ally of apartheid South Africa which Sudan was no where near & the North supported Mandela , if you are African American (who are more awaken to Zionisms influence unlike South Sudanese) read about farrakhan who the Sudanese government reached out to, he is a Great man like Malcom X
