Hello, John you are a very good teacher. I've been a carpenter in Southern Maine for 35 or so years and still enjoyed watching your video. All your videos are nicely done. Keep up the solid work. Cheers Edman
Wow, thank you! I wanted to become a carpenter when I was a kid but some circumstances changed and I ended up in the electrical industry. Thanks for stopping by Edman.
I’m in Oregon, my sister lives just outside of Bangor. I enjoy your videos. I look forward to visiting Maine again in a year. I would consider moving, but not used to the hard winters. Beautiful state however.
Over the years, the sun had severely warped the vinyl on the sides to where the vinyl is very wavy and away from the aluminum. I am constantly hitting the nails back in, but the vinyl is permanently warped and the nails will pop again and again. Also, if caulking the aluminum over wood, be sure to use top quality caulk between the metal and the brick. Otherwise, cheap caulk will dry out, and the metal will pull away from the wall leaving the wood showing.
I found that mine have held up really well being on north side of garage, so they don't get any sun. so you just have to rotate garage, so strips are on north side LOL
Well I guess that depends on the brand. I copied and pasted this from the Home Depot website. 2.5 in. x 7 ft. White Dual-Vinyl Top and Sides Garage Door Weatherstripping

I always use the weather stripping with the bristles. I’ve had some on my garage for 40 years and it looks as good as when it was installed.
Great. It's help a lot.

We love it here but the winters can be rough. They last too long..
How's she goin'? Nice job changing those weather strips. That's a good reminder for me as my garage door weather strips are toast!! Take 'er easy!!
Thank you.. Quick little job.. Take care my friend and keep the great content coming.
Just found your channel. I love it!
That’s awesome. Thank you. Welcome aboard.
Simple projects save a lot of money and will make the garage warmer and dryer.
2:05 Maybe use a large flat block behind the crow bar to help keep the aluminum trim flat; although, it's just a little dent. 😃

I have trouble with mice eating holes in them so they can get in n out.any ideas there?
I do a lot of trapping in the few months leading up to winter. This seems to reduce mice damage.
are you near Old orchard beach my aunt and uncle had a hotel right on beach there.
Yes.. About 10 miles away.

My garage actually faces north as well and the weather strips are like new. The small garage door to my shop faces south and you saw their condition.
Jeese, old school, ever hear of a Wonder-bar or flat bar?
You made several deadly mistakes yourself? That dont make sense.
Door stop this is not weather striping..
