How To Install a Holley Super Sniper EFI

  • In this video I install a Holley Super Sniper EFI system on my #FairmontProject. The engine is a turbocharged 363 custom small block Ford. I was running a Demon 750 carburetor but I felt I took that as far as I could go.
I’m very happy that Holley came out with this system as it fit my needs perfectly. I’m speaking specifically about this units forced induction capabilities.
I’m looking forward to tuning it in the coming months. So far, drivability is much improved, but not perfect. There still seems to be some things that need to get sorted out. I may cover that in a future video if there’s interest.

A little humor for you Eric, when I was a kid in the eighties, one of my friends and I were commuting to work one morning in his old Ford 150. The throttle cable end snapped off at the pedal, similar to what happened to you. We pulled on to the shoulder of the highway and tied a shoelace to the end of the throttle cable to make it hand operated. Since it was a standard trans truck, I had to shift gears, since he didn’t happen to have three hands. 😂

Sent it back to Summit Racing and got a new one but it took sometime in getting the car to run perfect due to getting the IAC position at 0%. But I love the Holley system wished I discovered this system years ago.

I had a 72 Camaro with a 383 carburetorated and I loved that car! I regret every day selling it however I do remember having to constantly fuss with the carburetor and because it wasnt daily driven and sat for weeks sometime without being driven there were constantly issues ! I should have converted it to fuel injection! I believe your going to be allot happier with this efi system in the long run! You'll also be able to tune your engine better and hopefully get more horsepower as a result! As always a great video! Please keep em coming!!

Yeah for a car that isn't driven much, EFI is the way to go, carbs hate sitting around. Had a 83 z28 with a built 350 in it, drove it to high school every day and never had any problems with the carb, until I bought a "responsible" car to drive daily. Some asshole rear ended it like a week after I did the conversion, yeah miss that car a lot.

I want something to keep the carburated appearance, and of course, so I can keep my original filter setup. This seems well worth the effort. Would love to see how it perform for you too as time goes on. Now all I have to do is measure how tall it is and see if it will be too tall for the ramcharger on the car. Keep up the great work. Hi Eric, just watched the latest engine masters and they tested the carb hats and direction of them in relation to air distribution / leaning out cylinders for boosted cars. I think you could benefit from placing at spacer on your hat and turning it fully forward. Seems to keep the distribution more even and less chance of a lean cylinder condition. Just my thoughts. Love the videos man! Always good stuff here.

Thanks a ton for this video, I wasn't familiar with Eric the car guy until now and this video was enough to like subscribe and hit the bell...lol...I just purchased the regular version and two days later broke my back... literally, just had surgery, pins and screws and a cage.. anyways, I'm dying to finish the install...it looked pretty straight forward, I did choose to get the really nice shrinktube connectors as well, but man your never to old to learn and you gave me several aha moments so this video has me even more excited about finishing the installation...so far the only thing I have been a little disappointed about was simply the cost of the sniper air cleaner...and the cost of the bigger better control screen for the unit... replacement cost for what comes with it, whopping 3.5 in, is like 260 and for the small tablet size was 600 or so...geeze...Xmas wish list now... anyways, thanks a ton Eric! I should have this baby going by the weekend if everything goes well...I'm beyond excited about the fan control bcuz I was having some issues, I think the ground supplying sensor is bad, cuts on at 180, cuts off at 103 lol...dead battery at work a cpl times helped me to figure it out... excellent video, great information and tips...keep it up man, I'm an instant fan...and if it helps to get the living room looking more like a living room instead of parts Central I'm sure my wife will be a fan too! 🤣 I had the msd distributor already but did opt for the hyperspark distributor to make it easier...I've been thinking about a way to get live data of what the computer sees for tuning and tweeking on this obd1 setup...so to be able to see what's going on and tweek some as well on the fly is beyond exciting to me....

It would also make the accelerator pedal very hard to depress and over stress the already fragiled throttle cable that you saw in the video. Thanks for the comment.

@@ericthecarguy You need to find a better throttle cable. That old one looks bad. Not sure who makes the best ones nowadays.

The dash needs to be removed to replace it. I won't be doing that anytime soon.

Most tracks won't let you run without one. That's minimum tech, strapped down battery, throttle return spring. The day the springs get weak or the blade shafts are in a bind, you're going to have a bad day.

Good stuff, I'd simplify the tubes and wires under the hood, b/c on power tower you need it simple.
Also get a catch can other wise your rear main seal will pop after few pulls.

Honestly I haven't had any issues with the rear main, and I've had the engine out a couple of times since I put it in. The breathers on the valve cover work pretty good. I'm not running killer boost either. About 7psi.

now I need to go find the video of the fuel pump install, the sniper master kit I have as a fuel pump with it and I'm trying to get ideas for placement. Awesome video btw

My entire fuel system is custom. Sadly, I don't have video of the latest version yet. I'm still working through those edits. The cliff notes are, Moroso screen filter before the pump, then a fine, screw on oil filter style filter after the pump. Hard line from the secondary filter to the FI unit on both the delivery and return run along the left frame connector. -8 throughout. You should use -10 from the tank to the pump if you're doing big power to avoid cavitation. Fuel psi regulator goes on the return side. Good luck. Oh yea, I also put rubber washers under the mounting points for the fuel pump. Helps keep it a little quieter. Fuel pump is mounted just behind the rear bumper on the drivers side. It's activated by switching the ground side of a relay I mounted in a custom mount behind the passenger kick panel. The switch controls the ground of the relay.

I was gonna go with FiTech and use their Fuel command station which lets you use the mechanical pump

Another good reason to stagger splices, least likely for them to short to each other if it gets wet, easier to work on.

Awesome, great video Eric. I'm super excited for you. Installation looks pretty easy, I'll probably try it one day if I don't shove an LS into whatever from projecting on.....LMAO butt hurt...

Probly won't even have to smell fuel when tuning. And what is this learn thing, with the wide band 02 is there any tuning. some good advice with the check for wide open throtle. and the other details in there like wire nuts to verify .then you can be sure about your harness installation. very well produced video thanks for sharing
