At 20:50 u spoke about ammo ,In the context there at 21 min another ammo to consider especially in the south east is 12 gauge. Definitely top 3 for the most common round I bet ,the rounds are crazy besides birdshot (still would put someone/something down)and it’s lethal at crazy distances. Grandthumb even did a great video of the lethality and penetration at far distances on it. Solid choice in a crap situation 🔫👦🏻🫵🏻

@Operatoroveralls a smidge heavy, but how many people have rocked an m16a4 with 203 in the Middle East? The weight isn't killer. I set the lpvo to some intermediate magnification level (right now 3.75x to keep the throw lever taking up only the field of view already covered by the battery compartment of my dot) and run the dot for up close. If I need more magnification, I have it. If my dot dies, I have a redundancy 1x. And, the lpvo acts as a riser so it's comfy

@@Operatoroveralls I appreciate your honesty and quick responses. The crazy thing is I see more content covering thermal and night vision than I do staying dry or navigating areas that can be very wet, damp or sometimes be swampish. I’m gonna be exaggerating but imagine Everglades, places where we may go mudding, places we we generally travel by airboat, etc, I think this would be interesting

@@eefmydee1slideways most content creators are out to make videos that get a lot of engagement. Because it's a business. And most people would rather watch stuff on thermal and NVG's than rain gear.
But I'll definitely start looking into some rain gear and reading up on what I can. And hopefully roll out a video on it.

to really test wither or not a weapon systems runs reliably with no malfunctions over time, you should clean and lube it properly. That way you cannot fall back on the 'cop out excuse' of "well the malfunction is my fault" . You'll know it was the rife, the ammo, or the environmental factors,, then you'll of properly tested the weapon and know for certain. IMO.. just like all the Glock guys at the range having malfunctions and then saying "well I never clean it, on purpose".. that's the excuse they always have,, until they learn that they are running low pressure range ammo, and they have a horrible grip, and it's really those things that are causing the malfunctions .. Keep your shit clean if you want to perfect your weapons systems and your operating abilities and get things really dialed in.

When the BCG is caked up with carbon. And the whole system starts to run sluggish. Until it throws the occasional failure to seat..... It's pretty obvious the cause. But I do agree with you. And I appreciate the comment.

How about a 12.5 308? For a fighting rifle against big wild game. Two years ago I was able to get an Aero Precision upper SBR/ for my AR10 pistol from Lead and Steel. I got lucky. I don’t think Aero makes them anymore. Also that’s a cool and well functional gun and 12.5 are fun to shoot.

Also run my white light on the left. I’ve seen too many white light AD’s on pressure pads. Sure you can train to mitigate it but to me it’s like walking around with your finger in the trigger guard and one in the chamber. One muscle twitch away from AD.

If I run a pressure switch, I run it behind where my hand is. So I have to purposely shift my thumb. To avoid an AD. But you're right

I run a 14.5 Midlength, 2-10 scope (3-9x in a 30mm tube is just as effective, or better) with a top dot, and an Inforce IR/White light.
Zero the dot at 65 yards, zero the scope about 1" high at 100. Run primarily 77 gr OTMs.
Does everything you need it to well enough, isn't super heavy, can be run under NODs.
Its not the only way to run a rifle around here, but its the only way I'll run a carbine around here, because it works for me.
Also, magnification in the woods is very much under-appreciated. Having access to 2x to 10x magnification on your rifle makes you a better spotter, and the 2x/3x especially helps more than people realize out to ~50-100 in heavily wooded areas. Plus, you're keeping the true 1x with the top mounted dot.
