Bro, I'm from the automotive manufacturing industry. GNCAP doesn't ask the manufacturer permission to take a car for testing. They just go purchase the car from a random dealership and then airlift it to their testing facility in Europe. Only recently, as you said, auto OEM have started talking to them proactively those who want to project safety as a sales pitch. In fact they have realigned their product design to meet GNCAP but whether they are realigning product design from Indian real world accident data is a big question. As far as I know Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai India don't work with them proactively but are meeting all the Indian safety regulations and homologation mandated by Govt. of India. Meeting these govt regulations which started kicking in from 2018, itself is a huge quantum leap in automotive crashworthiness standards given Indian customers car affordability and road conditions. Govt takes decisions to balance cost, affordability and at same time get maximum safety features into the car.

Regarding the info about Global ncap I have a few points to share, 1. Harrier and safari were not tested in spite of each and every car from Tata motors having its own Gncap rating. Not sure about the left hand drive biased development of the omega arc platform. I would request the motowagon team to confirm it once again that whether a chassis can be developed for a particular driving-sided car making it vulnerable for crash tests if a car is developed with the same chassis but with the driver on the opposite side. The principal issue with harrier and safari which stops them from being crash tested is their 2.0 L multijet Diesel engine which was developed mainly for left hand drive cars. When Indian car manufacturers started plonking it in their cars, they did it as such without making changes to suit a right hand drive car. The engine is still functional but being developed for a left hand drive car, the engine’s oil filter assembly or the oil-sump(I’m not sure which one) comes right in front of the ABC pedals or the footwell of the car when plonked in a right hand drive car. In the event of a front offset crash(as each and every other car is tested) there is a possibility that it can protrude into the cabin and cause injuries to the driver’s foot which can affect the safety rating of the car inspite of it being strongly built and capable of a higher star rating if this particular issue is solved. No car maker would want their flagship models to have a lesser safety rating and that too when other cheaper models in their portfolio have fared extremely well. This is also the case with other Indian cars like the Jeep COMPASS and the MG HECTOR which also use the 2.0L multijet. And using safety ratings to promote the sales of their cars is nothing to blamed about. When certain car manufacturers promote features as their USP, at least Tata and Mahindra are using safety to promote their cars which is indeed useful to the buyer. 2. We all know that the Mahindra thar scored 4 stars in the gncap. It is a wonderful car and is indeed strongly built. The hippocracy here is that Mahindra had a basic AX model in the thar with side facing rear seats without seatbelts. Since gncap tests only the basic model, Mahindra strategically removed that basic model with side facing rear seats from their portfolio before sending it for crash tests since that particular model could have brought down the safety rating of the car. Only the model with front facing rear seats with seatbelts was tested. But Mahindra still continued to sell the model with side facing seats saying that it will be on sale only till the existing inventory is available. 3. The XUV 700 is the highest safety rated Indian car but was crash tested with the full option model with 7 airbags instead of the basic model with just 2 airbags. It would be really enlightening if motowagon team speaks about gncap and provide more clarity on the subject. Keep rocking!!!😊😊

I do agree that a mere safety rating doesn't render a car safe. Structural integrity is more important. Even the Kia seltos which scored 3 stars( missed 2 stars by a close margin) has an unstable body structure. I think your point would be made clear by the motowagon team once they do a video about GNCAP and safety ratings and about how a common man should approach and interpret safety ratings. In my personal opinion I don't think the motowagon team has given any information that would mislead someone watching it. Let's not jump into conclusions. I have an answer for the question of why subscribers are not more for Moto wagon. I visited car sense accessories shop last week for my new breeza (which i bought purely on the valuable advice of moto wagon asir sir) . When i was there i met one customer who came with virtus. In the discussion we found moto wagon asir sir is automobile enthusiast... Very well said about NCAP. NCAP is a myth and It got proved in XUV700. After seeing the result of an accident of XUV700, I cancelled my booking. Also Scorpio N, which was not tested till now. Like you said, companies are testing only those vehicles which can fetch high rating for them. Marketing gimmick.

Even I missed to buy BS 4 Ford TDI or Vento/rapid engine. I'm driving Grand i10 petrol for last 5 years, recently I drove my friend's Ford Aspire TDI. Pickup after 30Kmph in that TDI engine awesome. I never got that driving experience in i10 before.
